  4. For those of you who don't know me - hello, I'm Vio! I was in WG from 2009 to 2020. Back in the day I was Advisor/Head Warlord, and the leader of WG's old junior clan Descendant Guardians - but I'm probably best known as the Historian of WG. It's my job to document the 22+ year history of WG, which I mainly do over on the wiki (it's not done yet, don't look!!). About 6 years ago a bunch of WG members tried to start a mutiny and made a clan called Nothing Left (NL). This annoyed me to the point where I left WG and joined the clan Deathrow in order to kill NL. We hunted NL to the point where they had to merge with Playdead, and then we hunted Playdead until they ceased operating in RuneScape as well. So that was my job done - but I decided to stick around with DR for a bit longer because it was a pretty cool clan, and the brief leave of absence from WG accidentally turned into 5 years. But thankfully last year I started doing some more work on WG's wiki, and finally realised it was time to come home. ---------- For those of you who DO know me - Henlo friends, it Vio. We are so back. Also I brought His Lordship with me - hopefully you find him useful. ---------- Since Lordship posted an irl pic on his intro, I want to do the same - but because I don't have any good recent pictures of myself, have one of my cat instead. He just turned 1 year old, and his name is Charlie. We named him after Charli xcx because he is brat.
  5. The FrontPage Website A forgotten piece of history that sat between AvidGamers in 2004 and the Flash Website in 2006 was the FrontPage website. As the name suggests, it was made by His Lordship using Microsoft FrontPage. And there is an absolute ton of information in there that was never actually deleted. All the pages and (most of) the files stayed gathering dust on WG's server for 20ish years, but despite my early efforts, they couldn't be made presentable. FrontPage was a WYSIWYG editor that spat out a mess of spaghetti code, and the only reasonable way to preserve it would be to basically remake the entire website from scratch. So I remade the entire website from scratch. It took months, and I even had to outsource some help to Reddit in order to complete it, but I have successfully re-written the entire source code using modern HTML, restored all the Flash media and most of the images, etc. I have also taken some artistic liberties and replaced dead links with links to Wiki resources, but otherwise I've kept it authentic as possible - down to every questionable FrontPage misalignment. You can check out the completed version here: https://wildernessguardians.com/frontpage/ There are some fantastic gems of history in those pages - from a teenage Lordship berating his council members for not wanting to write 3,000-word essays on their RuneScape clan every 2 weeks, to Vio's personal favourite wording of a WG clan rule: "If you declare or accept war on the clan's behalf, you will find that you have no clan to war with." If you want a fascinating insight into WG in 2005, here it is. Note: the actually Wiki page on the FrontPage website is not yet finished, but I am sick of looking at this thing so I'll save it for another day.
  6. Medals WG has a long history of individual member awards, and the first ones were handed out nearly 20 years ago. Long before GuardianScore and even the old Hall of Fame, there were Medals. Flash creations by His Lordship that look *very* 2004, which I originally planned to add as just a footnote in a "history" section somewhere... until I found them. Well, 18 out of 20 known medals (sorry to Tequilajade and Terakaern, wherever you may be) hidden away in a folder on the website server, most of which haven't seen daylight since the S4 forum era. Well, their new home is on the Wiki. https://www.wildernessguardians.com/w/Medals Interestingly, @Flame Reece is still welcome to his February 2005 MotM award, and might possibly be the only member around who's entitled to the Veteran medal.
  7. You can call me a sentimental fool, Or say that my heart is in the past. But I know history is a powerful tool, And this clan's history is a pain in the ass. Despite being in Deathrow for the past 4 years - long after I accomplished my goals of putting NL in the ground, then putting PD in the ground for taking the ex-NL, and continuing to victimise the ex-NL/PD members for being fucking stupid fucking idiots - and with not much contact with present WG nor any real intentions of rejoining... I nonetheless find myself doing WG clan work. Mostly the same clan work I started in 2010 as Historian, which is to fully document the history of the Wilderness Guardians as best as possible. And that's mainly happening on the Wiki that Mojo and I started in 2019, but has remained largely unfinished since. A few days ago, and completely out of nowhere, I had the sudden urge to finish it. And my plan was to do just that and then drop a link in discord and be like "HEY GUYS IT ONLY TOOK 5 YEARS BUT ITS FINALLY DONE" - but then after around a week of devoting a ridiculous amount of hours into research and writing (which includes negating most of my other hobbies and also skipping a few DR trips), I realise that there's a reason I've never gotten a wiki to a reasonable standard of completion before. To put it simply: there is a lot of stuff that's happened over the past twenty-one years, and researching all of it is neither quick, nor easy, nor simple. So instead of waiting an impossibly long time to get there before I share any of my efforts, what I've decided to do is revive an old SMF forum topic from the late (not dead, just inactive) His Lordship - the Fragments of History. As I complete pages and sections, I'll share them here - because all humour and sarcasm aside, WG history is absolutely fascinating. No other clan has a story like WG does. So if you happen to be interested - watch this topic. I'll update it periodicaly as things get done on the Wiki, and hopefully you'll be able to get a slightly better understanding of why, after fourteen years, I'm still obsessed with this clan. Either that, or you might actually learn something cool. Wildguard - Established in 2003, united unto the end of time. First post: The AvidGamers History We'll start things off with a history meta - the first ever historical record, as written by His Lordship circa 2004. I say that lightly though - it's highly fictionalised in Lordy's fantasy writing style, but it does cover the events of late 2003 and early 2004 - Lordy getting PKed while collecting runes, posting on Rune Village, The Sabres, the Federation, and celebrating the 100 member mark. https://www.wildernessguardians.com/w/AvidGamers_History Contents 2.
