Anyone got a pet rat irl?

I was given a year old rat from someone who couldn't take care of her. Any tips on how to get her to trust me enough to let me pet her?

I had a pet rat when I was a kid for a little bit. Would watch TV with it out of its cage and feed it potato chips. Maybe try bribing her with food.

She trusts me alot more now, but she just wants to use the opportunities out of her cage to escape. XD

My friend had a pet rat that is long gone, died of old age. That guy was sweet as heck. He'd even do little tricks. If I didn't have cats, I'd be interested in getting one myself

I used to have one called Olivier. Died at the age of 7. Was the best behaving rat ever. When i went to bed i left the cage open and he would snuggle with me till i fell asleep. He would even get back in his cage to use the toilet! I was really sad when he died. If id take one now i think ill be single. He looks very much like the black and white one Pazuta has. Also my dog and cat would see it as a running beefsteak.
