Back in 2008 when I was council the first time I remember being extremely frustrated with the incompetent leadership and policies of this clan. And although I enjoyed it I understood maybe some things can't be changed. Now flashback to 3-4 months ago and council elections were opening up. I laughed when certain people suggested I applied but after a while they had me convinced to run. I was determined to change things and hopefully steer WG in a new direction.

Unfortunately nothing has changed since 2008.

Back to that same routine of getting fresh, new staff members to bring WG out of a slump only to go inactive and watch it fall. Rinse and repeat.. WG since 2006. The truth is, no matter how many wars we win, no matter how many new recruits we get, no matter what videos we make... all pointless if we don't have that final push. That push is what we've been missing in this clan's entire existence. And I see now that it won't be happening. I know a lot of you are trying and happily go off to war in hopes of seeing the glory days again.. but they aren't coming.

It's amazing what a little hard work can get you. People see these wins as something new, something they've been waiting for. No. This is what EVERY clan is doing but for some damn reason WG has a mindset that we're some laid back easygoing clan. Yet when we step on the battlefield we wish we weren't.

What can I say? I tried my best. I laid out some recipes but received no ingredients. There are some amazingly hard working and dedicated members in this clan but unfortunately not enough to pull the others' weight. This clan has changed from what I remember it. No point in opening the doors if they won't go.

On a similar note I've come to realize RuneScape is boring to me. The only aspect I truly play for anymore is clan PvP. And if we can't get that kind of support here then so be it. I wouldn't trade the memories and friends I've made here for anything and definitely won't forget them, but really it's time to move on. I want to leave WG and look back someday and say I was proud to be a Guardian for 4 years. But in the present there is nothing left for me here. If you're my friend you need no shout out as I will keep in touch with you.

Sorry it had to end like this but you'll see me around.

This is a sad day... You are the best council member since I joined 2 months ago
What is happening?
May is coming to a close, and we have only had 3 new trial members. The introduction forum is idle for days at a time. On top of that, 7 members posted their goodbye topics, with a lot more inactivities posted. Now, one of the core members is leaving.
This summer is supposed to be our charge to the top, but with all these people leaving... Deary me.

Ily Randy <3 hope you will come back in the future sad.gif

Randy, you did an amazing job getting WG to where we are now.
It's a shame that our best efforts didn't come like you expected.
I'm sorry for not doing my part as well as I should and this is indeed a sad day in WG.

I hope that one day you'll come back with a fresh mindset and new ideas.
Until then my friend.

I'll catch you on the flip side.

I'm in shock kinda, maybe because I feel new to WG again.

All the great leaders seem to go down this road here. It is infinitely frustrating. Especially after the 50% topic where I thought we might start booting the slackers and refining ourselves a bit. Oh well?

Very Sad day. Huge shame. I thought WG could go somewhere with you, but i can agree with all your points (apart from the 'back in the day' points ofc as i was not around)
Never the less, the show must go on.

Good Luck in the future man.

Lol bye.

I will expand;
You talked a lot of game about WG being a dominant force over this next break and at the time we needed you most you abandon us.

QUOTE
Nothing has changed since 2008

Many things have changed, WGs activity requirement, minimum combat level and PvP direction have all changed for the better, these are just a few things. The quality of PvP member in WG is far superior than that of 2008.

QUOTE
I laid out some recipes but received no ingredients.

Many WG members were behind you, almost everyone supported you, many members would attend your impromtu wars, early morning wars, because you made the effort, we were defiantly repaid in my opinion. Member skill and dedication has increased, maybe we are a few "ingredients" short but what good are they when you and your "recipe" are gone?

It does not have to end, we elected you, you're abandoning us, thankfully you have two weeks to realise this is a mistake.

Josh, please don't be a prick.
Randy was an amazing council member.

I expected this, though it saddens me.
While you never said it, I saw your patience waning to a level where this would be the outcome.
You gave so much and I was not able to reciprocate your energies, letting you down.

I am firm in the belief that I could not help it - my inactivity is not laziness. This doesn't make me feel any better about letting you down.

I want to spend the remaining two weeks with you praising your efforts and your legacy. For what you have given I will be grateful and I also thank you for stepping down so gracefully.

This decision will clearly stop some of the anger you are feeling, and whatever makes you feel good is the right decision.

Let's hear it for Randy, the legendary council member. This is your moment of remembrance mate.

Josh... just no.

Did not see this coming at all. Even though I dont know you, you seem like a nice guy. I am sure it will be a huge loss for WG, you will be missed. I must admit I think it is a little bit bad timing to leave now.....

But hey, its your life! You have to do what you feel for, and nothing else.

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck in the real life! biggrin.gif Enjoy yourself!^^

I'm just going to quote big slabs of text, because I have a fair amount to say on the matter.

"Back to that same routine of getting fresh, new staff members to bring WG out of a slump only to go inactive and watch it fall. Rinse and repeat.. WG since 2006. The truth is, no matter how many wars we win, no matter how many new recruits we get, no matter what videos we make... all pointless if we don't have that final push. That push is what we've been missing in this clan's entire existence. And I see now that it won't be happening. I know a lot of you are trying and happily go off to war in hopes of seeing the glory days again.. but they aren't coming."

What is the 'push'? What is the objective? I have just looked back through all the trial guardian information and the stickied important announcements, and none of them detail WG's objective as such. Sure, there are rules and rights which establish a hierarchical but egalitarian clan culture, but nothing actually detailing what the purpose of WG is.

Originally WG was the anti-pk clan. The honourable clan in a society full of douchebags and pilejumpers. But as time progressed and Runescape matured as a game, WG retained its honour code but became otherwise little dissimilar from any of the other clans jockeying for position on the top-30-list thread on RSC.

And that has not really changed to this day, from my (admittedly limited) perspective. What is it you wanted from WG? Can it be defined? 40 member pulls to 1-week prep wars? Top-ten ranking?

I want to know because your words of 'push' and 'glory days' show that you have some greater objective in mind, in which PvP action is only a means to an end, but I cannot see that end.

"It's amazing what a little hard work can get you. People see these wins as something new, something they've been waiting for. No. This is what EVERY clan is doing but for some damn reason WG has a mindset that we're some laid back easygoing clan. Yet when we step on the battlefield we wish we weren't."

Perhaps this too is related to the unclear purpose of WG. Are we a pking clan? A warring clan? A skilling clan? Are we a place where people hang out and occasionally do all of the above? I'd suggest that the last option on the list is most plausible. Yet those members who prefer any of the other options will inevitably feel constricted by the mismatch between WG and their true individual preference.

"On a similar note I've come to realize RuneScape is boring to me. If you're my friend you need no shout out as I will keep in touch with you."

And of all you have said I feel this cuts to the core of it. If you are bored with the game then you should - must, for your sanity's sake - leave it. I know the feeling; ceasing to play WoW after five years' addiction, at one point so severely I chose it over food, well... I would never wish that limbo state upon anyone.

On the other hand, if you really enjoy clan PvP, then it is more a matter of finding a clan that supports your goal as strongly as you do. And this links back to the frustration you were feeling in WG. What is WG...?

I can't say I wish you would stay - knowing your reasons and saying otherwise would be selfish and cruel. Instead, I wish to thank you for making WG a better place than it would otherwise have been. Your presence and leadership will be sorely missed. Should your interest in RS reignite in future, I am certain you will find yourself amongst friends here.

You are one of the greats in the history of the clan.

Every second you have been in this clan you have given 100% for WG.

Asking more than what you want to give would be selfish.

As suss as this will sound... Fair well, Kingrandy0.
