A Tad late to some I have been promising, I know, Sorry.

Alright, we currently have 4 people in the Council, including myself. To ensure a secure leadership, I've decided to have Council elections for two different positions.

The first position is Secondary Warlord

This person will be another warlord alongside Darkzero101, the Council feels as though another warlord will strengthen our warring side. In a summary, this is some of the features we would be looking for in this candidate:
  • Decisive
  • Calm
  • A Good experience with other clans.
  • Knows how to lead the clan into war (Fall ins, setting up Snipe/Anti-Snipe teams).
  • Knows how to deal with a war request from another clan.
  • Would not mind constructive criticism from members.
  • Must be very supportive and have qualities to boost morale when down.
  • Have a Microphone for Teamspeak and is not afraid to speak openly
The second position is a General Council

I'll quote myself from the last Council Election topic:
QUOTE (Abmanju)
The Council is striving for more moderating type Council and a Council that looks for member feedback and so on. A Council that will never ignore a pm on IRC or on Forums. Someone that will always have the time to listen to anyone with a problem or query. Someone who is ALWAYS kind in what they speak. Someone that is never racist and has self-control. This person will also be doing a lot of forum work as well as IRC work. This person's communication with the clan is vital. Timezone is also very important for this person, they have to be most of the time at which most of the clan is on. Along with all this, they have to be Event active, they have to go to Events, we need a Council out there to support the clan in every event, it'll certainly be inspiring.

So in summary we are looking for:

  • Calm
  • Someone that is good at comforting people
  • Have a quality to boost morale when down
  • Previous experience of ACP/Mod CP/IRC Commands would be hugely encouraged
  • Have a Microphone for Teamspeak and is not afraid to speak openly
  • Would be open to constructive criticism
  • Cope under pressure and stress
  • Would not mind spending 4-5 Hours doing forum work (For example, setting up a training programme and so on)
  • Would know how to settle disputes between 2 or more members
  • Would ALWAYS reply to EVERY pm or other means of communication from members

The importance of the Council Rank

Again, I'll quote myself from the last election:
QUOTE (Abmanju)
This rank, Council rank, I can't stress how much **** it put through many Council members. Ask anyone who has been Council, they'll explain. You might think "Yeah, I'm prepared for this" - Heck, So did I, but I really had no clue what I was really in store for me. You might bug a Council member to do Apps or do something at a time, and go 'Oh If I was Council, I'd do that' but you will really have no idea unless you have been Council before. This rank has broken many many people. Lifespan of Council is usually, approximately, rather, 6 months I'd say. It's hard to last long in a job you're not getting payed for. You'll be able to realise 'Why am I doing this? What is the purpose' - Then you answer that question yourself 'Because I love this clan, I love my friends here, I want to make them happy' - THAT is your payment, THAT is what motivates you in Council.

Council Rank is the ultimate test, if you don't do well at it, you will be criticised by the clan whether you like it or not, you will have to be able to withstand that criticism and act positively to it. Council Members make mistakes, Primary Leaders make mistakes, but they are ordinary human beings just like yourself, they will learn from mistakes. But many people don't understand the concept, which is exactly why the pressure mounts & mounts on a Council Member.

I'm going to quote Eugene from old forums:
QUOTE (His_Lordship)
You are about to apply for something dangerous
This clan has been through many council members.
We have never had a stable council.
If you join the council it is very likely you will quit WG soon after.

The council members are placed under EXTREME stress.
You just can't believe how much...
Though I have to admit it has become easier.
(This is because we took away total democracy meaning less drama)

Anyway, you don't know what it's like to be in the council.
Some of you think it is the ultimate glory.
This glory will fade after a few weeks and you will suffer.
Others are in it because they want to change WG.
Then they suffer as well because the stress grows too heavy.

You may look at the council and say not much is being done for WG.
But it is hard for council members to do anything.
We are labouring and we need plenty of breaks.
Sure you may say nothing is being done.
It's REALLY that bad. We just have to keep our workload small.
Otherwise WG gets too stressful.
This is one of the reasons many council members leave.
They don't realise how stressful it gets.

IF YOU WANT THIS JOB, YOU REALLY HAVE TO HAVE A DEEP URGE FOR IT.
So please, before you apply, think VERY HARD.
There is a reason council members are temporary.
When you are in the council, it isn't a lot of fun.
People start questioning what's the point of playing RS if it's not fun.
To be a long lasting member, think of Dorcha3377.
She does it because she loves us. She loves what we're all about.
You need that. You have to draw your happiness from the happiness of WG.
Nothing can prepare you for it.
You may think you know how it's like, but you don't.
You can only understand once you are in the council.

So when you apply, realize that you may be about to suffer.

Lol a quote in a quote^

---------------

Ok, if you were not put off by any of the warnings above, and if you think you have the criteria I have provided, you may apply, as long as you have:

-Higher Guardian+
-4 Months minimum in Wg (The day since your application got accepted)

Below is the Council form, I'll quote what I said on the last election:

QUOTE (Abmanju)
This form is the basic form to fill out your application. If you want to gain more votes, I suggest your application to be structured meaning colour coding & underlining key points. Also please try to clearly get your point across. Please spend a good amount of time making the application form. People who have applied for it and received the rank took a good 1-2 Hours doing the form. Before then, back in 2005 when Council Elections happened, the Council Forms were posted on a website and they were...I can't remember, It was VERY long, I'd say about 2k-4k Words or more. (Jesusislord6 & so on competed in this election)

CODE
[b]Application for Council[/b]

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

4. Why are you applying for council?

-------------

A few things you have to note:

-You cannot apply for both, you must choose ONE
-When you decide to resign from Council, you must give us a two weeks notice, and you cannot leave earlier, you must understand that if you leave earlier, you will be banned and added to the Hall of Shame
-The ending date for applications is Thursday 3rd July 2008.
-You MUST post on this topic, do NOT Pm the application, it'll be ignored.

Good Luck to all applications.

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I believe I can last a long time in council as I'm a person who doesn't give up easy. If there's something that needs sorting out, I would be confident I could fix it.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Not that I know of.

4. Why are you applying for council?

I'm applying to council as I've been around this clan for almost a year, and I think it's time I took my position to the next level. Ever since I joined I always had a dream to be a Warlord, a dream I'm not about to let slide past.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

Wg needs confident leaders, and I believe I am as confident as they get, if I were to get council, I would use my power to bring better warring standards to Wg, from:

- More intense practices.
- More discipline in wars (not to the point were it makes warring uncomfortable).

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I have a vast experience of leading, from old WG raids to dragon luring. There isn't a leading situation I can't handle.

- I'm confident.
- I don't take leading as a joke.

Also, my activity, whenever I'm home, I'm on my computer, it's my source of entertainment, so I'm always in the irc and looking at the forums.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

In all honesty, I don't think I have any weaknesses, maybe when I'm leading a war, I get a little flustered, but that's very occasional.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)

Fighting type (Secondary Warlord)

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

Most people write however many words, 1k,2k, 3k words etc. I really don't see the point, no one takes it into consideration, everyone knows what I'm capable of, I hope they vote for me not by my application, but how well they know I can lead.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?

Yes, I agree.

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

With all my heart yes.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I have experience and I know all about the rank.
I have witnessed the jobs of all of the council members and I have seen the difficulties that they face day by day and I think that I could be a great support to the existing council and staff members, as well as the current and future members of WG.
I can keep my cool and I have a lot of great ideas and as a person I am naturally very imaginative and I think that that quality is good in a council member.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Not at all (apart from work experience next week and then a week of holiday)

4. Why are you applying for council?

I have experience leading other clans - I rarely speak of this now but I made a clan with the help of some friends around.... 3 years ago and that prospered, had its downsides, prospered again, worked up to 70 members, good clan, extremely active, fun events, ownage members. I remember the stress and the hard work I had to put in to get that clan going and I would never trade in that experience for anything, since I enjoyed it so much.

I am a "people-person", sure I have arguments occassionally, we all do. But I listen to the members and act upon their advice, suggestions. If someone pms me a suggestion I will take it into consideration and act upon it

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

WG needs people who can pull the clan through bad times and who have the ability to support the clan in everything that it does.
I feel that I am a person who will be able to do this.

- Find a way to increase the level of training of Pro Silentium- so we can all train better and gain more levels and destroy our future CWPL targets.
- Bring back Skill Badges (NOT SKILLS ACADEMY) - I think a little bit of competition is always fun.
- Encourage more members to host events as well as Event Leaders as well as continously work with the members to create fun , never hosted before events.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I have been a skills leader since September 2007 after joining in July 2007. I have experience in leading clans before, some of you may remember my application, where I explained all about the clan Betrayed Phoenix which I founded, built and led for a year and a half.

I am also very active. Before I went off to do my exams I was attending 7/8 events a week and hosting at least one event every week without fail.
I intend to get myself hosting 2/3 events a week during the summer when I return from my holiday and therefore keep the members active and having fun!

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

I do lose my temper sometimes. As humans we all do. But I am getting a lot better at not expressing my anger to people so that they get upset. If something does upset me I generally leave the IRC and go to confide in some old friend who will listen to me.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Fighting Type OR Community/Skills Type)

Community/Skills Type (General Council)

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

This is the second time I have applied for council, the last time I narrowly lost the elections and I think perhaps that was a good thing that I didn't get council last time...
I was less experienced than I am now and I think now I am ready to devote a lot more time to WG (especially over the summer)
I have the time to work for my rank if I am elected and I assure you I will not let you down.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?

Of course I do. Yes.

Good luck to whoever else decides to stand wub.gif

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning? Yes.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council? I have experiance in leading, not just on Runescape but in real life. I was a corpral in the air cadets before I left due to some IRL issues. I have been given a warning and i'm prepared. I've a rasnge of leadership positions; I led my own clan for around 6 months before I had to close it and I was High Council in PEC(Phoenix Elite Clan). I did well in both so I would say I could do a good job in WG council.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive? No.

4. Why are you applying for council? I want change in WG, a council that is still involved in the community as wel as the leadership aspect. I've been able to do that whilst running a clan single handedly. Some would say I'm power hungry but, maybe I am a little bit, I have so much experiance and not a rank to use it in. Those are the main reasons I'm applying.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member? I can't say for certain what I can do, because I know as a leader you are preasured in what you can and can't do. But I think WG needs a stronger skill event range. As many skill events as fighting, alought fighting does mean alot to WG so any fighting event would be priority. Also, a friendlyier council, I always managed to fit my friendly spirit in with my leadership before. WG needs more council/leadership in spread timezones so the events are varied and so that there is someone to help for any time zone.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council? Nothing realy, the people who have applied are extremely worthy. The things that would put me a little bit above an applicant is that I have alot of experiance. I have tons of experiance with ACP (I have maintained over 7 boards all together for people.), I have hefty leadership skills overall and I am firm but fair when it comes to punishment.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader? I can be stubourne some times and I can be a little imature.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council) General Council.

9. Is there anything else you would like to say? I most likely won't get this position because of Teritarys proving there experiance withing WG. But atleast I was given the chance to apply. Good luck to all others.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Yes.

Remember that the joy of being a leader isnt having the power, but being able to help.

Goodluck guys and gals.

Let me just be a voice of reason -

I thought I knew how tough it would be, being Council. I figured I could handle it. Let me put it this way...

Nothing anyone says will prepare you for the hardships of Leadership. You will not, and cannot understand how time consuming, how difficult it truly is until you meet it head on.

So you better be sure your ready, and that you have time for what you are promising to the people here.

Be good Leaders or I'll eat your souls.

Madd, though you may have Leadership experience that doesn't necessarily mean you can do what you did in those positions here. Every Leadership slot is different, not one is ever the same. I speak from experience. WG was not my first Leadership role, nor was DG. It's different, and can be so much harder - Especially for those who think they can do everything no matter what. (I was one of those people.)

But like I said, good luck. And don't look down on yourself like that.

I was in the Council Elections three times before I was actually voted in. wink.gif

I know, first time I made a clan when things were simple and I was a noob, it was easy. I got into the high level and I was close to going emo. It was only me doing it all because my leadership were lazy.
