Running a server. Was going to install Ubuntu but after installation fucked up several times and considering what happened with the WG forums while on Ubuntu (Which are still going pretty damn slow for me) I was reccomended Fedora. Eh, fair enough. Ubuntu runs fine for me; I did have some trouble with the installer though(I think its got a few bugs still, TBH) @Samurai-JM: Yea, its a problem. I'm using Compiz Fusion here on Ubuntu - it works great for me. The important thing is I can run 3D apps in the multiple virtual screens, and not have any issues switching between them. I currently have it so pressing f9-f12 toggles screen 1-4 respectively; holding down ctrl+F9-f12 shifts the current window to that terminal. And if I hold down the middle mouse button/my scroll-wheel, I get to free-form roll around my desktop like that pic. The only issue I have with it, no AA while doing that. -- I don't know what you are talking about, forum wise - what exactly is slow? The first time you load the forums after a restart? Each page? You, calling us creative? I laugh. It is mainly from the program called Rainmeter. There are tons of skins on DeviantArt with the different "meters" that you can add. Just takes some time and a little thought to transform your desktop to what you want. -------------------- | ||||

Well, there -are- a lot of images... But still, I mean... From an empty cache, and loading Firefox up for the first time with this post window(along with 6 other tabs)... 12 seconds. And I'm on 1.5mb DSL. Perhaps you don't have Pipelining on? You might want to get the FasterFox extension, or google for how to speed up Firefox. edit: Note, some of the topic pages -can- take up to 30 seconds to load. However, if you look at the loading text, you will see most of the time being taken up loading stuff from Imageshack.
