You try having lots of people who hate you in the clan (Even though it's in the past, some people just don't feel it's gone), and the disappointment of people as JC said for 2 weeks, along with the people from both the clan you're joining and your former clan telling you to stay with them.
Then try being in DF's IRC seeing them say 'Mass for hunting VR!' 'PKRI with <clan>!! Come!!' while you have to wait 2 weeks. It really does get hard to the point where you just have to make that decision.

Showing up uninvited to clan events, even after he was warned. Flaming, disrespect towards leaders, the list goes on.

The two week rule also allows the person in question to really think over his choice in the matter. As a normal member in a clan, I handed in a 10 day notice to the clan before I left/am leaving, as a cortesy to them, so they'd know and could plan for it, and to give me time to think over it.

I doubt that DF would deny your application if you were in WG and had handed in a 2 week notice, expecially if you linked them to it.
