I like Robbie's idea.

I would definitely say try for mandatory sign ups.

Bad idea for Mandatory sign ups, we had this last year with the Clan Wars League. For instance:

Member X Signs up as yes, then something unexpected happens and Member X is unable to come because he or she gone out with friends (using this as an example). Member X comes back and gets bitched to hell about signing up as yes but not being there, then accused of skipping an event. This has happened plenty of times so i don't agree with the signups. mellow.gif

If people have a valid excuse for signing as yes and not coming then it's fine. But it's proven that Mandatories get alot more people than when it's not mandatory.

But some staff goes into handing out warn levels for this. Which is really not fair or a good idea.

I was more or less refering to general bashing people get from members, but that too. neko2.gif

I like the idea. Correct me if I'm wrong but, I think that TBE is doing the same thing ?

I dont see why mandatory signups are bad. If you dont think you can make it, Sign up as no. If you turn up, then pew pew pew. Better for us. Simple as.

So this isn't going to be one of those 3 strikes you're out of the clan? I think that is what mandatory means in WG. We have to go to the mandatory stuff and they keep track of who misses and how often then decides whether to kick people for inactivity.

Please correct me if I am misunderstanding what Mandatory to WG means?

I would be very reluctant to see the return of 'Mandatory Raids' as I suspect that, going off prior experience, the claimed benefits do not actually happen.

I think this assumption by chimpy:

But it's proven that Mandatories get alot more people than when it's not mandatory.

Is about as far from the mark as I have seen.

From my experience, mandatory sign ups DO result in more people reading the topic and posting that they will/won't attend, but in reality the actual 'attendance' increases recorded were minimal at best.

Then you get down to the question of what do you do if people are consistently not being able to attend mandatory sign up raids? I know the last time we had 'Mega-raids' I would have attended about one of them because Aussies consistently drew the short straw. What do you do to make sure people try their hardest to sign up yes?

If its going to come down to punishing people (whether its warn levels or not) then I think I would rather not see the return of 'Megaraids'.

MANDATORY EVENTS.

Oh no I did not just go there LOL! Same concept tbh, apparenlty people want better attendance at events, then let's make them Mandatory too! 'MEGA EVENTS' Must attend one of the X amount per week.

Completely ignore this as i'm tired and typing complete and total gibberish. dface-ani.gif

On mandatories, if you have important commitments, thats understandable. Everyone is expected to signup. However, if you're online, you're here. If we go out and find you burning logs at BH while we're banking, you're screwed and I'm going to be angry. If you're at GWD, its your fault; ALL of our mandatories will have several days notice. If you choose to go GWD when you've had several days notice to be prepared at this time, then thats you're own fault. Of course, if its a short prep mandatory we may be more lenient, but the bottom line: If you're online, you're there.

From the last mandatory we had, we had a signup of people who did not sign up. If you dont sign up and you didnt sign up for the last one, we'll take your name and give you a more serious warning. If this is your first offense, we'll give you a verbal warning, but nothing serious. If its a constant thing, theres gonna be a problem. It REALLY isnt difficult to read the PvP forums over the spam of SEVERAL DAYS. That probably is the easiest duty for a member to do besides occasionally signing in to the IRC.

If you sign up yes and dont show up, we'll probably let it slide. However, if you were on the last list, we may ask you why you did not attend and ask you to try to be more accurate in the future with your signup. Accidents happen, we can understand that.

Keep in mind that we do NOT make many mandatories. I've made 3 so far as a Raid Leader/Warlord.

The list from the last mandatory was pretty short. We had 10 people who did not sign up or signed up as yes and didnt attend.

I don't ever think it'll get to the point where if you constantly miss mandatories you're kicked; the people who constantly dont attend will filter themselves out from WG. For the most part, these people have already been kicked for other inactivity, or have gone Emeritus.

Keep in mind that the we're people too; we're not power-abusing nazi authorative figures. We'll understand if something pops up, and we'll try our best to be fair.

I like the way your talking bto.

If it's something like 3 days prep for it then how can someone bitch about it, 3 days!!!! That's a long time to plan ahead on runescape.

3 days would be conidered short for a mand event, would be more like 1-2 weeks.

Your probably right, we don't have the people to do 3 days prep, would have to be like 1 month for them to even think about coming to a raid. RAGE. People not active makes me insane@
