I've been doing some pvp activity checks on all the members including even Robbie. Since Christmas, I'm the only one in staff that hasn't attend any pvp events.

I have my own personal issues that make it difficult for me to do any thing that requires good fine motor skills. If that makes me inactive staff, then I guess I am. Currently I'm on bed rest by the doctors orders and I am sure I will be back to myself in no time.

Even with that I still have been doing some community activites, forum work, irc active, forum active and I play RS. I'm not sure what you are expecting from me atm, but I guess people think we are bots.

Thanks for the input.

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

is the day you have stopped leading them.
They have either lost confidence that you can help them
or concluded that you do not care.
Either case is a failure of leadership.”

As a %, the staff turnout is pretty good. Could be a lot better though. I'll repeat what DZ said

QUOTE
I can still see what you are saying by 'leading by example' but it's not as easy as it might sound. They've got a lot more on their plate than regular members.

Its so true, especially in the case of council. You can never imagine the workload that goes into it until you're doing it. They have so much behind-the-scenes work to do (if they're doing the job right), which makes it all the more special when you see them at the events. Event leaders and raid leaders, however, do have a smaller workload and should really be supporting events where they can.

Staff turnout and member turnout positively feedback on each other (sorry, i'm a science student). Staff love to see new faces, and members have a great feeling when staff are at the events. Best step forward is do what we can to improve both.

the case can be made for one council member. but for the whole lot. try fighting your way out of that mess.

ah, i gotta stop dragging the discussion on...would be consider a troll in this case.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that instead of justifying a and z reason why things are...

why not demonstrate what's to come. in all seriousness all billy is asking for is commitment on council part. i think i stated early its like a challenge.

essentially its an opportunity to turn a very upset and frustrated member into someone committed and believes in the community but in order to do so. leadership have to commit and apply themselves. happy.gif

W0t Randy said.
Um well i've attended like every event for the last 3 weeks since i've been on holiday and like the one event I miss in order to complete a very important coursework essay, I get blamed for not attending....

Mm...

My point is you was on pretty much all day leading up to it, why not do CW essay then when you know theres an important raid lateron?

By no means RS > RL, but planning ahead helps.

On earlier on??

I wasn't on from Saturday night (when I logged off to sleep) until around just after church I think... at 1pm when I returned.
I then went to have something to eat - LEAVING IRC ON with the name "George|Essay" or "George|Working".. whichever.
I then sat down to do this fucking hench , important essay from 2pm - 8pm when I had dinner, watched a bit of TV and went to bed.

Plz tell me when I could have raided....

My decision is completely and utterly justified.

come on. don't beat on each other like a bunch of narbs.

we do agree on one thing in this discussion. event attendance is the responsability of everyone. as for expectations we can certainly suggest a policy discussion on it.

there is no need to justify any actions. after all we are not on trial for offences against wg.

billy though isn't alone, i do believe that most members feel the same way about well...council not being there for them. its a selfish thought but quite reasonable and essentially useful or in some cases demoralizing.

ok. we aren't as active as we should be but then again. what is being active when it comes to events. haven't heard anyone state otherwise.

It is easy to look at a staff position and say " you should do this or that"

Everyone who has been council can tell you, its not about the game anymore, its about an ideal.
You are tending something that can't be touched or seen. You are the shephard for a clan.

We all need a break sometimes, the thing to remember is this.
Is the world going to end if we don't go to one event?
Look at the overall for what council does, then say they are inactive.
It is always on your mind, that you could be doing more. Sometimes to the point your life can almost fail.
Give them a break, they deserve some time.

I dont think some people see what im trying to say.

If we raid once per week, and you have 4/12 officials there, then thats 3 weeks for all officials to attend, and thats only if others aren't at 2 or more. So for any leader/council/raid leader/event leader is only attending 1 raid per 3-4 weeks, imo thats no-where near good enough, no matter how much work they are doing behind the scenes.

Like i said, i know how hard it is for council, but if you cant handle it, why keep it?

@Fred - You clearly thought about your post before making it, you found 1 excuse out of a missing 8. Of course i dont expect Lordy or Jordan to be at events at 5 in the morning, but what about the rest?

@Gorge - Like i said if you plan things ahead then it can be avoided, i see you enough times on IRC between thursday > sunday. As a council this is the kind of thing you should be thinking about, doing whats best for the clan without jeopardising Real life.

Yes planning ahead works.
Believe me I spend my life planning ahead with all my social commitments, school commitments and WG, but there are some times when you can't plan or other times when you plan and you plan falsely.
For example, I had no idea I was going to struggle with the essay this much, and that's why it took a long time.

But , selfish as this perhaps sounds to some, I won't fail an exam for RS...

End of.
I now consider this discussion as noted and finished.

I'm glad this discussion is over knowing that most of the people it was aimed at didn't post an opinion or reason or whatever, some probably didn't even read it. Seems as though will just fall on deaf ears as i've not seen anything to suggest improvement.

Edit - Gorge this isn't aimed at your just so you know, i no you attend events etc etc, but there are some people who i've never been to a pvp event with. Not just rachel who stated above.

Also thanks to those who did respond

resolution to everything is that essentially its over. done finished. good rant btw.

its not so deaf since essentially the reason why members are absent is justifiable although....

justify that you can't do something essentially lacks resolve.

i guess my final thought is where to head from here on especially if i have expectations that cannot be fulfilled.
