![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() IRC Nickname: Fire Lion Sword Group: Emeritus Posts: 1189 Member No.: 103 Joined: January 4, 2008 Total Events Attended: 3 ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm turning this into a "Tell us your CoD4 stories" thread. ![]() Playing with Anti-snipers Map: Pipeline Game type: Team Deathmatch Often, since this map is designed in favor of the concept of stealth, providing many advantageous observation points - some more popular than others - there are people who like to check these specific areas, hoping to score an easy kill off of unsuspecting snipers. This sniper, however, isn't too fond of "popular" sniper spots when it comes to his sniping, so, with the creative ability that comes with being left-handed, he chose a more complicated yet equally as effective hunting location to hide in. Which, also, conveniently granted this sniper with a good view of the other, more conspicuous hiding spots. His technique involved "bobbing" or "turkey-necking", switching from the prone position to the kneeling position, taking shots opportunistically. After successfully taking the lives of many reckless players, this sniper eventually attracted unwanted attention. ![]() Fortunately, this sniper was experienced and had expected nothing less from his determined enemies. And, in anticipation of the arrival of a possible anti-sniper, this sniper patiently observed the nearby, most commonly-used sniping spots from his present location. It wasn't long before an enemy soldier, bearing an automatic rifle, appeared, dashing onto the distant field, sweeping the grass back and forth, looking for his prey. His attention was focused on the ground... He knew the sniper he was hunting had the advantage of camouflage. However, the hunter was being hunted. This sniper calmly watched the enemy soldier in the distance... His crosshairs fixed onto the soldier's head. Everything became simple. As the enemy soldier stopped to look around, a single shot was fired. The soldier dropped to the ground, dead. It wasn't over yet... Moments later, the same soldier reappeared. However, despite the fact that he knew he was possibly still being watched, he recklessly repeated his previous mistake, rushing through the grass, keeping his eyes focused on the ground. Perhaps he thought I was there all along. Pop! One shot; One kill. Several minutes later, the persistent soldier showed himself again. This time, however, he was certain I wasn't sniping from the usual vantage point. Instead, he made a wise decision and began making his way to the other grassy hills. As he approached my area, I kissed the dirt. I could see him looking in my general direction as he rushed into the vicinity. I realized the risks and decided to remain hidden. The soldier was quick. Within a few seconds, he was close, proceeding with his usual act of scanning the ground. He was going to step on me, I knew it was inevitable. Quickly, I jumped to my feet, looked around and saw him. He was looking straight at me... But he was startled. I had to make a move. Consumed by pure adrenaline, I dashed towards him. He was dead in my eyes; nothing was going to stop me. Everything else was irrelevant as I acted. In an instant, another one of his lives were taken as my knife withdrew from his lifeless body. Things had just become a lot more dangerous. We both possessed an infinite amount of lives, but my pride was too great to allow me to play as flippantly as he. It was just a game, but it was also a battle of wit; a battle between two human-beings. And I wasn't eager to lose. I took advantage of his absence and relocated. I ran into a group of bushes far enough from my original location to decrease the chance of detection, but close enough to watch for his return. In order to gain a better view through the leaves, I remained in the kneeling position. It was a good idea. The soldier returned, ready to fight once more. However, this time, in display of the good quality of the cooperation amongst his teammates, he brought along two men to help him. They were all heavily armed. As they fanned out, their chances of finding me increased. I could only sit and watch as they randomly shot into the grass. It would only take one bullet to confirm my location... And they had hundreds of them. Fortunately for me, my enemies were fools. Even after much searching, they neglected to check the bushes and slowly regrouped as they walked in the opposite direction. Maybe they thought I'd fled. In a blatant act of mockery and disrespect, I boldly jumped from the bushes and charged towards the group of soldiers. With their backs turned and their guards lowered, I quickly identified the original soldier and sliced the back of his neck. Oblivious of my presence, I took out my pistol and shot the remaining 2 men. With my ammo running low, I knew I had to retreat. As far as I was concerned, I had already achieved victory. I was the superior soldier in this battle. I crawled on my belly, hugging a nearby wall, as I inched farther away from the grassy field. I was still being hunted. I was still a sniper. I couldn’t be careless. As I made it onto the open battlefield, I quickly took cover behind a staircase and waited in the shadows. A few heavily armed soldiers flashed by. This was no longer a sniper’s domain. As a final blow, I activated the Air strike I’d earned from earlier slaying the hapless soldier. Without hesitation, I marked the grass patch closest to the location of his previous death. Seconds went by. With the powerful sound of jet’s flying overhead, 1 confirmed kill appeared to me. The match was over. I’d scored the winning points. Over 30 kills; no deaths. The End. ![]() -------------------- --------- 獅の炎 ---------- ![]() ----------- 忍☯者 ----------- | ||
