Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes, i have.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
Wg has been nearly my home for two years, i have proved that i have stuck with Wg through thick and thin. People know me throughout WG even the new commers know me as i was one of the few to look over their apps. I beleive that i can last quite a long time as council and now that my Major exams are over my activity is going to be going through the roof. With this in mind many of the teenagers within the clan are now done with their exams and are coming back.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
Nothing at all.

4. Why are you applying for council?
In previous elections i was always urged by member to apply for council, i never applyed in several elections as i either had major inactivity coming or didn't think myself to be ready. I can finally say that now is the perfect time that i have nothing in the immediate future that can be put in the way and that i finally think i am ready for this sort of responsibility within the clan. I am familiar with ACP and Mod CP within wg forums so i know how the system works and working as an application manager i know how to do forum work.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
WG needs our reputation to grow, within recent days, our numbers, Organisation, teamwork and warring capability have all skyrocketed. The perfect example would be the CWPL, many people underestimating us and we evuntually showed them. In order to help this i would try to emphasize more on RuneScape Community or other fan sites. So that we can try and lift this negative attitude alot of clans have towards Wg.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
Experience - I have two years experience under my belt, i know everyone, everyone knows me, i was also voted "Vet of the season".

Warring - I can proudly say that i have fought in over 200 fights whilst in WG both old school wildy, Wildy and using the clan wars arena. Although i have little raid leader experience i do know the basics and small tricks.

Power - Having already been a moderator and then an Application Manager i expertly know how to use commands on the irc, set modes, manage teamspeak AND use the Admin CP + Mod CP.

Friendly - Nearly everyday i receive PMs on either the forums or IRC asking me for help/advice. People think of me as a friendly sort of guy, someone taht they can come to in need of help, i think this is a trate *needed* for council.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
At points i have been know to power abuse in the IRC but as of late this has stopped, i could also see myself maybe being too easy on someone who was said or done something offensive.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)
General Council, i prefer this role to Warlord as a Warlord is suited for someone like a raid leader who has had actual war leading experience.

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
Good luck to the other candidates tighthug.gif

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes, of course.

Yep, I decided to apply after all. Before any of you read this app (you probably wont any way :P) I'd just like to tell you a bit about my self:
    - My name is Kyle
    - I'm from Ontario, Canada
    - I am 15 years old
    - Currently on Summer break, going back to school for grade 11
    - IRC Nick: Buzz
So lets get to my app now before I bore you with all of that. (Joke, boring stuff below :P)

P.S. For those of you that want to skim I've added a couple condensed parts in there outlining what the paragraph or two was saying.

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes, I've read this post over many times already today. I understand what is trying to be said.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

My ability to absorb stress. Council is, from what I can see, a stressful position and I'm very good with handling stress. I have no school right now which will help with that and my life is quite laid back in real life. So I don't have a lot to worry about and am willing to put WG before anything else (depending on how important it is for me). I also know what it is like to be in leadership position, I have not led any other clan before but I've been around WG for close to 2 years now and have had some type of staff position for close to 8 months now, I wish to take the next step.

I also have my friends supporting me, all of my friends will have a way of keeping me going if I feel bad, they will always have a way of cheering me up and I will always be there for them just like they would be there for me, it's like a circle. My friends will always help me.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Besides school starting in September, I only have a 2 week vacation in the middle of August. If something comes up WG will be the first to know though.

4. Why are you applying for council?

I'm applying for council to make a difference in WG, like I've said I've been here for close to 2 years now, I've seen some of the greatest council members and learned from what they've done. Now I don't want to be like them but I want to do what they did, change WG for the better.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

Currently, I think WG needs to sort out the active people and the inactive people. We have a member list of 130+ people now and only got 53 to our LTPK war today that's 41% of our member list, I hardly call that active. In order to solve this I would start by doing activity checks, I would try new things to find out if the person is active or not and once we found those inactive people, I'd personally talk to them to see if there's anything about WG that they don't like (I.E., Event times or events all together)

I also think that WG needs council that will listen to anything they think needs to be changed, I would be in the Suggestions forum regularly thinking about new ideas thought up by members and put some of them together for discussion with the other council members.

In Short:
    - Sort out Activity
    - Find out what people think needs to be changed
    - Listen to your suggestions and act on the best ones
Now I of course would do more than that, but those are some main points to put into this, and I feel that they are probably the most important to some of you.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I think the main thing that would put me above other people applying for council is my maturity. For my age I am extremely mature, yes, I do have my moments where I am immature, but it's a fun time and it's a good way to know other members.

A lot of you would think I'm older than I am for two reasons:
    1) My Maturity
    2) My voice on ts (lol)
Because of those 2 reasons I can adapt and talk to basically anyone, I can talk to an adult like an adult and a teenager like a teenager (you know since I am a teenager and all). I'm saying this because WG is mixed of teens and adults and such it's good to have someone who can talk to anyone.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

I personally think my greatest weakness in terms of being a leader would probably be trying to rush things, I like to get things done fast and I usually get them right but there's the odd time that I get something wrong and I get messed up and have to restart or start from a point to continue.

I've said on my other council elections that I've had (total of 2-3 now) that I've known my self to make a quick choice and answer a question to fast and sometimes get it wrong, this ties into me wanting to do things fast. I do this in real life too mostly with solving math or science problems.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)

I'm going to say no to the Secondary Warlord, I'm just not fit for that, and I'm going to go with General Council. I've always been involved with WG's community part, why stop now.

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

Well, what everyone else has said I guess, may the best man win. I also hope that this isn't based on popularity. Vote for who you think would do the best job, not who you like the most.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?

Yes, even now with this position I'd still provide you 2 weeks notice before I left WG (Which will never happen by the way).

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes, and if I lose any limbs I shall blame abmanju k hash.png

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
I've been around for ages, I was 6 months clan friend before I joined.
And since I've joined, I've been in wg for just over 1 year.
Another reason I can last longer, is that there is always room to expand in a clan. There is always things to improve, which I spot in wars/activity/irc and so on. Yes, I agree it is impossible to make a perfect clan, however we can continuously improve to be the best we can be.
Also, If I hadn't loved wg by now, I wouldn't be here happy.gif

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
The only thing that would do that would be if my computer blows up.
I thought i was going to, but it seems to have gotten better atm, so I don't think there is a problem with it.
Apart from that, nothing.
Wait up, unless I die. Hmmm...blink.gif

4. Why are you applying for council?
I have always wanted to do something in wg that would be useful.
I had a period 4-5 months ago, I saw so much to improve on, and I kept posting about it, and telling council/tertiary. Sometimes, action plans were taken, however other times the problem still continued.
I would like a council position as I would like to have a direct hand in the running of the clan, injecting (omg I sound like a drug dealer) my ideas and thoughts directly to aspects which can be improved on.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
- Activity
Our activity is a bit slacking at the moment.
Sure we have 130 members, but we only pull 40-70 to wars. Doing the maths (don't take that literally glenn), thats only about 30-53% of our members. So a first priority would be activity sweeps and personal talks with inactive members. Hopefully this will fix up the activity problem we have at the moment. Soon, if we don't do constant activity sweeps, wg will be labeled as one of those clans who have too many members on their memberlist and can't pull many of them.
This will in turn give us a better reputation in the clan world.

- Suggestions
You post them, and I have seen a few good ones that weren't acted on.
I would put forward a variety of your suggestions to be acted upon so that we could improve the clan as a whole.

- Events
We used to have a very good variety of events.
However now I mostly see wars, there needs to be some more motivation in members making their own events.
We do have a public events forum laugh.gif

- Application System
Too easy atm.
You hardly have to string 2 sentences together to get into wg atm.
I have written a topic in lvl 2 about this, so I will follow up on it + implement a new application system.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
- Activity.
Yep, I'm here, nearly all the time. Ok yes I'm not a zombie I do sleep, however most EST/Aussie player would often see me on. University in my life gives lots of holidays, so activity is one of my strong points.
I would sure hope that wg would want an active council member.

- Ease to talk to
Yep, some of you haven't talked to me, however come to me.
I'm a very open person, and I will greet you with a friendly attitude, ready to listen to suggestions/comments you have to say, and consider or act upon them.

- Maturity
I'm 17, i'm in university, so I do have responsibilities in my life.
Sure I can joke around sometimes, however there are times where I am serious, and I take important matters seriously.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
Timezone.
Yep, Australian.
However, if you do remember, when lordy was still leading this clan, we had him as a primary leader, and we also had another Australian time based council member (Valdremia). Atm we only have 1 (Theevildead2) so I would like the opportunity to give more inputs from an Australian point of view.
Yes, I have to agree my timezone isn't the best. Despite that, I'm still active in the EST timezone as well, due to that being around 7am-12pm for me.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)
General Council

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
Ok sure, many people on this topic can write "I don't need to write 3k words, you know what I can do". However, this isn't the case for me. I am an untapped resource, and I have been waiting for an opportunity like this for a while. Yes, you may have not seen me directly doing forum work, ml changes, activity sweeps, accepting applications, etc, however if I was given the opportunity, I would have uptaken it fully, and proven to you that I am a suitable leader.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes, I do.

Why not eh?

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I've dealt with stress. I've moved from country to country seven times, and anyone who's moved can vouch for me that it's one of the most stressful things you can go through, mo matter what. I never give up, sometimes I stick with things for too long if anything, but the fact is, if my heart is in it, then I'll stick with whatever I do however long it takes unless there is something that literally separates me from doing what I need to do.

I'm organized, and that would help me manage the duties I'd be given if elected to this position. I'd be able to separate the bigger issues from the smaller issues and not let everything get to me so easily.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

If anything, it's already started. I'm in the process of moving right now, but I have internet access daily so it's not that big of a deal. I'll also be taking some pretty tough courses in this new year so that might take some time, but I'll always make room for WG.

4. Why are you applying for council?

I'm applying because I honestly want to do something for this clan. I joined in early '05, but moved and was forced out because my internet connection blocked RS. When I got back, the first thing I did was train up to our requirements and joined again. This clan has really been a home to me, and I want to do something to help it flourish. I've got some ideas that if given some time, and are shaped to fit this clan, could really do us a lot of good. I feel that as a member of the Council, I'd be able to really help, rather than just throw my ideas out there and hope for the best, this way they might be looked at rather than simple commented on.

I'm also applying for this position in particular because I feel that it's the one place where I could actually have an effect. I'd never apply for the Warlord position because I know for a fact that there are better candidates for that position. However for this position, I've got ideas that can be used, and the other skills that would be needed in order to do a great job on whatever is being asked of me.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

What WG needs most is stability, and with that, unity. This clan always goes through some sort of disaster which really brings it down, and sure we survive, but just barely. I couldn't identify just one of these two simply because they are connected. If we are divided, our stability diminishes, and if we become unstable we will start to go after each other over tiny, meaningless things. In terms of the in-game aspect, we need to eliminate this idea of "high leveled" and "low leveled" because it really makes the community horrible when there are these labels and people are ridiculed because their combat level isn't as high as another person's. As a member of the council, I'd take care of the smaller issues, that may not seem as important, but are very important when left untouched. I'd try my utmost best to identify problems before they become anything to much and solve them before they become noticeable.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

As others have said, I don't particularly like this question, but since I'm faced with this question, I'd have to say my experiences with WG, my honesty, openness and acceptance. I've been in WG for a long time, twice in fact, and only because I was kicked for inactivity when my internet connection blocked RS. I've never held a position of power in this clan, simply because I never really wanted to take it, but rather be chosen, but I feel that this is my chance to do what I've wanted and help the clan the best way I can. I've seen WG in it's ups and its downs and have stayed with the clan noting what things went wrong and what things worked. For those that don't know, I'm a very open person, and with that a very honest person. I will speak my mind, regardless of who opposes me because if I don't say something then decisions are being made without my input when they could be important to me. I don't keep secrets, and keep those that are told to me with confidence. I'm a very accepting person. I'm one of the people who are always cut at the matched options wars, and I don't complain because I know that it's for the best. Sure I'd like to fight, and sure I'll come up with ideas to get the people who always get cut some fighting time in those wars, but if that doesn't happen, so be it. With that, I also accept it when people oppose me and try to talk it out with them, taking their points into consideration, giving them credit where it's due and trying to show them what I'm thinking without shoving it down their throat.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

I can sometimes be to aggressive when dealing with a subject that really peaks my interest. I might get flustered, but this is rare and if it does occur it's only for a short while because I realize I'm acting irrationally and calm myself down pretty quickly. Despite that it's still a flaw in my leadership skills and could use some work.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)

General Council simply because I know I wouldn't make a good Warlord, or Secondary Warlord for that matter.

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

I'd just like to start off by saying good luck to all the other candidates. I know Ive got some very, very tough competition because I'm up against some of the most liked, and most known people in this clan.

On that note however, I'd just like to ask everyone who is voting to please take the time to read what I've written and not count me out because I don't post as much, or talk in the IRC as much. Just because I don't say anything doesn't mean I'm not listening or reading what people have said. If you've seen my posts, a large number of them are thought out messages. I post when I have something to say, not because I can say something.

Given that, I ask everyone else to also take the time to read everyone elses applications because they deserve your time as well. It wouldn't be fair to them if you just blew them over because I asked you (kindly biggrin.gif) to read mine, so I ask you to read theirs as well.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes

I guess, that is it for the application portion. I might as well add some personal information then just so people can get a taste of who I am:

Name: David
Age: 17
Interests (besides RS): Swimming, Soccer, computers, technology, medicine, science

Background:

Not many people know this, and a few people around here do, but here it goes:

I was born in South Africa. Two months after I was born we moved to Washington DC for three years. After that to China for two years and then Japan for 3 years where my younger brother was born. After that we moved to the Philippines, where my mother is from for five years. We then went to Newport, Rhode Island where my dad attended the Naval War College, and where I was introduced to this game we all know as RS. I then moved to Cameroon (Africa, where I just left) and am on my way back to the Philippines for my final year of high school.

Phew...

I guess that is enough?

Seems almost as if Council Elections are a typical thing now a days.
Wilderness Guardians has gone through so many Council,

I should be able to think back to the time and remember every Council Member. Yet, it's all just a blur.

Applicants, this is your chance to make that blur clear.
I hope which ever two are chosen can do that.

Best of luck.

I rewrote my old application since I was to quick posting it I didn't get to write all the things I should of wrote.
Here is the new one.
Enjoy tongue.gif

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes. I remembered most of it from last time though hash.png

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

A few years ago, I was a leader for a clan in another game. It had 90 members and was one of the best. We had many wars and such and we had an invisionfree forum which I did all the work with myself. I therefor know very much of invision forums and from being a leader of a clan. Even though I'm pretty sure this will be even more work, I'll give it a try and I will do my best to keep up the hard work for a long time.

I know almost everyone in WG well and I know what most of them wants. Being a friend of almost the whole clan also makes me a better leader since the people can ask me things and also tell me things without being scared in some way.
I know what the members wants - I know what the members need.
I will do my best to get the members what they want. (As long as it is good for the clan of course hash.png )

I have never ever been in another major clan in runescape.
I would never leave WG for another clan.
The only reason I would ever leave WG is for me quitting runescape or me dieing in real life. tongue.gif
I have no intentions of leaving runescape in the next year. I could never leave without achieving 99 herblore. And yea, that will take a great amount of time.
WG is my home.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

I can't think of anything no. And since it's summer right now I'll be super active the next 2 months or so. I will have computer access 24/7 and I really mean 24/7.

4. Why are you applying for council?

I want to help and improve WG in any possible way. I see myself as the right person to do that since I've had experience of being a leader before (even though it was another game.)!
When I joined WG, we were at a big down but I've only seen the clan do better and better for every week that passes by. The clan is having small downs from week to week but we always come back and do better for every time. I feel that I want to be a part of it in a good way.
I have good invision forum knowledge and therefor I can be a good person for all the work which is needed on the forums from time to time.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

I feel like if WG needs more events, of any types. Most skilling events though.
Skilling is also a great part of runescape which is very fun but I can only see people train combat these days and only the true skillers stay with their skills and their skill goals. I feel like everyone in WG should be a part of the skilling and the skill events.
WG needs more new events which have never been before and I think I'm the right person to come up with the ideas. As council I would be able to put my ideas to life.
Training any skill is very hard from time to time but if you just come up with good ideas on how to train the skill - what ever skill it might be - there is always a good and fun way to train it.
These new ideas will not only be for to train your runescape account even though that is good. You also have to get to know the people you play with so that you can be able to learn new things and get more experience. I will try to make all these things possible in a good and fun way.

There are a lot of events which are really easy to host, such as fishing trawler and those kind of events. Regular members can actually host events. And I see that as a really important part of this clan. I feel like if there should be a requirement for the trail guardians.
Before they graduate, they have to host one event themselves.
Just one single event.
That will make the trial guardians more secure with hosting their own events in the future as guardians and so on.
More events hosted means more activity and so on.

WG has a lot of members but yea...The activity.
We should have atleast 80 members for the full outs with all these members on the member list. We must have many more activity checks and inactivity sweeps and so on. This is very important. With all these members and less people coming to the wars than other clans with less than 100 people on their total member list...It's just bad for our reputation.
There has got to be something done about this.

The application form.
Just 3 of the questions in the application form takes some time to answer. The other 6 questions take only a few seconds.
There has to be some changes with this.
It shouldn't be impossible to get into WG, but a few changes in the application form are needed.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I simply think I would be a good leader and since I'm a pure nerd I'm able to spend a lot of time in WG.
As Eugene said:
"The council members are placed under EXTREME stress."
If you have got more time, you don't get stressed that easy.
I'm pretty sure that I have time but yes, of course it will be hard a lot of times.
Even though I've only been a member for a year, I've been following the clan for a much longer time. I trained to get the requirement for about 2 years (Yes, I was slow sleep.gif ) and under that time I saw a lot of things happening in WG.
I was also Application Manager for a bit over a month (quit because I stoped playing runescape for a while, and since I didn't play runescape, I wasn't up to date on all the new things happening in runescape and so on.) and under that time I learned many new things about being just a bit more of a leader than just being a normal guardian.
I was a leader for another clan in another game where I did the whole invision forum by myself which gave me a lot of experience on how to use the ADMIN CP.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

Well, now since I've got a mic (yay hash.png ) I don't really think I have such a weakness.
I am Swedish so yea, I don't spell that good but I'm hawt anyways hash.png (Don't make this look like I'm less serious smile.gif )

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)

I'm mainly (100%) applying for the General Council possition since I'm more that kind of person who would like to improve on the non war side aswell. (I of course want to improve the fighting part aswell, hehe smile.gif )

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

My name is Zeth and I'm soon 15 years old. I live in Stockholm, Sweden. hash.png

I feel like now when Dale and Evil are already councils, I've got a bigger chance tongue.gif
There are still some really - and I mean REALLY - good applicants left. - Good luck to all of them.
It would be a great honor getting accepted.
If I don't get accepted.
Prepare to see me in the next Coincil election or actually even in the next Event Leader election which will maybe take place after this if an Event Leader gets the spot tongue.gif

Thank you very much WG for everything.

The meaning of life is to live.
That is why I apply.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?

Yes sir.

Until you have been here you don't know the level of dedication this job requires. It will change your outlook forever.

I have to strongly agree with jenny and james here, it's all you want as a member and then when your doing it' you despise it to a certain level.

Nope. Not applying for council. You can't make me.

And Good Luck to those who have. Read the warnings again and commit them to memory.

Application for Council
Before I sit here and fill out the form let me open off with something.
If you read nothing else read this.
All of the applicants bring something to the table. Each has qualities WG needs. What I feel I have that no one else does is experience. A couple have experience with ACP, some with event hosting, some with IRC commands...
I have ONE YEAR of council experience and am one of a very VERY small group to have been primary leader of this clan. I know what it takes to perform the job and will do it to the best of my abilities. I have brought WG through tough times before and am ready to do it again.

WG is in a tough spot right now, and with a truly "new" council, it could be a bigger step back. With me you get the benefits of my experience as well as that step back being negated. I've been here and done it and can do it again.

1. Have you read and understood the warning?
Yes.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?
I've done it before.
I don't crack under pressure and can handle a great great deal of stress. I am able to help with problems without taking things personally and be someone who is truly "there" for the clan.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?
I go back to college in a couple of months, but I don't see why I wouldn't be able to fulfill the duties of a community based council member from there. RS activity may go down, but that is not the most important of council duties anyways.

4. Why are you applying for council?
I feel like the clan needs my experience and expertise. I can get WG through this tough time and I can step up to be a positive influence that the clan needs right now. I feel like I am the best one for the job and that it would be a disservice of me to not run with that belief and knowledge in mind. I am here to help WG and leading is what I do best.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?
WG needs activity and a revitalization of our community.
With those two things our warring and non warring events will both improve, and better yet our environment will improve. I'm tired of dealing with inactivity around WG and its time to crack down. I've seen several systems fail and I'm ready to put one in place that succeeds. Our community is suffering from several different little things, and if those can be recognized and fixed, we can get right back on track.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?
Experience experience experience.
I've been in the spot, I know what is needed, I know what works, I know what doesn't work.
I am a leader at heart and always will be. I like to do what it takes to motivate others to succeed and that is where my passion lies. Others have things to offer like I said, but they don't have a total package that I feel I bring.
On top of that I am a known face in the clan community and with me you get a level of recognition and respect that others don't necessarily have.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
RS activity at the moment.
I have a full time job and am not on during favorable GMT times.
Seeing as I would be an EST leader anyways this isn't a big deal, but it is something worth mentioning. I do have a few hours everyday to give though.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)
General Council.
Although I enjoy planning fights and leading them. My strength lies in community based actions.

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?
Please consider your choice wisely. Before you just click vote for your friend, or for the person that you think made a nice comment one time, consider who WG NEEDS right now.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?
Yes.
