One thing I possibly didn't make clear... When I locked and then re-opened the thread, I thought i'd made it clear that these sort of things needed to stay on topic if they are actually to be beneficial to the clan. The current staff read this staff forum as a place where Ex-Staff can put forward their ideas for WG. We don't come here to have a look at irrelivent arguments going on 24/7. I might be seen as being a hypocritte for saying this, as admittedly I had an argument with Rick the other day, well... less of an argument.. more debate... but anyway... It really does need to stop.

Now to current members: If you HAVE to 'shoot' back, dont fire unless fired upon. And even then, try not to flame/flame bait. It's pretty depressing to have to wake up, and whilst going through the forums find two pages of flaming.

To Ex-Staff: I call upon your maturity as ex-staff members of WG to NEITHER rise to flaming, nor start any flaming. Please use your common sense to know what will make another person feel flame baited and what will not. This forum is for us to look to you for advice, suggestions, ideas etc. Not a supply house for 'kicks' (i.e. forum trolling).

QUOTE (Rick Hamm @ August 18, 2008 11:03 pm)
Last time I checked, General wasn't a member so it makes it a little harder to get to know him, now don't it?

What matters is that you all are finally getting a taste of how alot of us feel when we come around here and get bitched at for doing nothing more than making suggestions (whether you agree with them or not), asking questions, or giving our opinions.

Karl, you said it yourself in a previous post that you welcome comments, questions, and input from former members, so why is it when we come over and do just that, we get put down, screamed at and made to feel inferior?

Take a good hard look at the forums and you tell me that how we were treated was fair. It shouldn't matter WHAT the topic is, the responses from this clan were less than friendly.

That's actually the bottom line here.

It is true, I do value the comments, questions, and input from former members, even if it is highly critical of WG, however it is a two way street. Former members should be allowed to share their opinions and input, and current members likewise should be allowed to post their opinions and criticisms of input, regardless of the apparent friendliness.

I will admit that some of the responses from WG members (yes, including myself) have been extremely negative, or responding on a personal level instead of the topic at hand. To that extent you are right Rick, however the problem I see with your argument is that you also seem to be offended when someone is simply highly critical of the input of former members. If a former member posts input or a criticism that seems hostile to the clan, the members have every right to attack it.

What you are asking us to do in principle is to allow former members to post input they want, but for current members to tie their own hands when responding.

I think much of this topic has to do with respect, which is also a two way street. As far as I am concerned, that is the bottom line here. Personally, I try to draw a line by criticizing the argument a person is making, but not the person making the argument. However, if you level personal criticisms at others, then I will of course take issue with your lack of respect and try to give you hell for it.

Rick, for my part I am very willing to show some respect, however at the same time if I see you attacking members instead of attacking their arguments, then I am not simply going to sit back and watch.

I don't think calling me names is very funny, especially when it isn't warranted.

Okay, so you say you don't care if you offend me, but let ME offend someone or something that you believe in, and you are all over me like flies on shit.

Where's the line being drawn?

I've already had a talk with Mugs...PRIVATELY about this entire situation.  If you have a problem with that and continue with what you are doing, who's looking like the troll...and the fool?

You want to debate, we'll debate.

Mass Debate?

On topic, I don't think completely ignoring advice from ex-members is the answer, although obviously I'm quite biased. After all, the only ex-members that can view this forum were once Staff members at some point in their history, therefore I think it can be assumed they will usually know what they are talking about. While yes I agree that WG needs to go in the direction it's members want, a little outside advice always helps, especially if this advice is coming from someone with experience.

If you're lost while driving you don't ask someone in the car do you? You ask someone in the street, who knows the area.

Gah, I actually agree with what Bassism said (good analogy too tongue.gif), so now there is nothing to argue about. See, look what you did Mugger, now this topic is way boring.

Ill continue with the analogy though...just because a local recommends that I eat at the Old Country Buffet, that does not mean I should eat there. The locals are from a different place and grew up eating different food than I did, so if I follow their advice I might get where they want to eat, but now where i want to eat. Instead of following their advice, I am going to New China Buffet to gorge myself.

Wow, who knew that analogy could be so elaborate...and now I am hungry.

Well, yes, if I would have listened to the locals (in this hypothetical analogy) I would not be sick from food poisoning. Turns out sometimes the locals know what they are talking about.

Dude evil, just get over yourself...who doesn't like bagels?!

If you want to make a real statement at least tell us what you like on your bagels. As far as I am concerned real butter (not that crappy spread stuff) with apricot jam owns everything else.

Off topic: Rick, what is Ponderosa? I do not believe I have ever been there.

I had a mixture of avacado and Smoke salmon on mine....

The avacado was perfectly ripe so it served to replace butter.

Oh dear I'm hungry again..... Croissaunts (Sp?) this morning hash.png

You've never heard of Ponderosa?

It's like....hmm, how to explain it. It's known for being a steakhouse but, they have an awesome buffet as well. Lots of good stuff to eat there.

Don't get me wrong...Old Country Buffet is excellent and I like that too. I'd just rather eat at Ponderosa.

On my bagel? First off, it has to be a cinnamon/raisin or blueberry bagel and then only topped with real butter, not the fake stuff. I simply loathe cream cheese too.

I like Old Country Buffet also. There are a couple of them around where we are, so we tend to go there once or twice a week, when I get off from summer school at 7-8PM.

BTW, while on the subject of buffets, Royal Fork Buffet is my favorite, and there are two in my state and a scattering of them around the US, one of which is fairly close by.
