I will be honest. At first I thought you were a prick. You spoke your mind and clearly stated a person's flaws, regardless of what they were ranked. I had never of met you, and this came to me as disrespect. I had no clue who you were, or what your past was. I saw that you were not offended by anything that any one else said, and only used their flames to put the speaker into an even deeper hole than they had already put themselves in. While you stayed your time as ex-member with the whole situation of Gene coming back, and the leadership post that you made about your conversation with Abs, I continued to look at you as a person that was not friendly to be around. When Gene did come back, was around the time that I started looking at you for what you are trying to accomplish rather than that you are trying to actually hurt someone. I began to see you talk in IRC, where unlike the forums previous to Gene, you didn't talk about negative aspects of a person or of the clan. This was the changing point of my view on you. My first impression was a false one. You are the father figure to us all, that even though you may be extremely harsh, you speak your mind and tell us all the truth. For that I now have the utmost respect for you. I ask that you do stay the way you are now. In WG and with your personality (even though I doubt the latter would change regardless of any decision that you choose). --------------------      | ||||||||||

I'm gonna step in. He does not sit on any High Throne, he merely speaks from experience, you seem to forget that he once WAS top dog, and will no more about running a clan than you, or even I, ever will. I'm sure Rick is well aware that he is Trial Member, I'm pretty sure he didn't expect to apply and go straight to Higher Guardian. We hear of plenty of members of WG whose parents don't let them install stuff (e.g TeamSpeak) on their computers, well Rick is one of those parents, so you're going to deny him membership? That's slightly hypocritical don't you think? Would you deny an applicant membership if he didn't have a SoundCard? When I started RS, my PC was in the Lounge where my family would sit and watch TV, you actually expect me to use TeamSpeak then? In front of my entire family, you want me to shout "W LolRSPlayer1337 west centre!!!@@!1!'11'1'1@"? I don't think Rick could care less what anybody who actually wanted him out of the clan could think, he wanted to know if the people he thinks he can count on, are still here, which they are, and still unafraid to say so, even if they give him advice he wasn't expecting. The fact is he wasn't apologetic in the way he informed us he wasn't going to install it.
There is no niceness. Its just "No. I'm not doing this." Oh yes, now all of wg bows down to rick hamm. This is the attitude I don't like. He can get stuffed imo. And you say he doesn't sit on a high throne. I once remember asking rick once why he 'thinks' he sits on some throne. He replied to me "I'm already on that throne", or something along the lines of that. His topic in the graduation forums was made to try and solve a problem, he did not want to use TS, therefore he wanted to know where he stood with regards to graduation. We all know Rick doesn't embed Posies and Tulips in all his posts, but last time I checked in the applications forum, that wasn't a requirement of WG, and should not be a reason for wanting him to leave. He may not be the nicest guy to everyone in the clan, however, he has some things WG needs, maturity, experience and wisdom. Can you Maths, say that you have the maturity, experience and wisdom of a 40 year old that's spent many years playing this game, with large portions of it in Leadership Roles of multiple clans? Have you been in the US Marines? Have you got a wife and kids? Remember, there's a difference between a throne and a pedestal. He may be on a pedestal, and that's a combination of members respect for him and his past experience. However, he is not on a throne, he has no power to make any changes, he can however advise the people on the throne, and they can accept his advice or they can reject it. I like you Maths, and I don't want to start a flame war or anything along those lines, I just feel your dislike for Rick is a little unwarranted and there's something about your posts that makes me feel there's more to it than what you're posting. -------------------- | ||||||||||

You know it's creating drama. Writing those posts is unneeded. He had a go at you and now you are doing exactly what he did that pissed you off. Let it go. I'm personally not a fan of Rick's posts being extremely harsh either and I'm going to continue asking him to show a bit more politeness on his part, but my efforts are going to go to waste if you are going to indulge in flaming. Freedom to speak out is awesome, but it can be abused. If you don't want him in WG, it's pretty plain for even a little kid, that if you start by saying "I don't want you in this clan" you are going to offend not only Rick but other people. And do you know what that does? He's down on a low level to be saying things to you... You lose all your credibility by going down to that level. You can no longer act like you're the mature one. You are down playing dirty with him. That goes for all clan members who see it fit to flame back as a way to deal with a problem. EDIT: For the record Rick, it's your one vice. You have the commitment, the knowledge and wisdom of WG and our proud history. You can make friends easily. You command respect. Your one vice is offending people with your posts. If you changed that, you would be incredible beyond belief. I'd see you leading WG again some time, and I'd like that. If only you didn't use that really offensive language. (I'm not saying don't confront issues. That's another reason why I love you. You can shoot the shit. Leave, and I'll keep it.  Stay, and if you ask nicely, I'll give it back. You can go a little overboard on the posting. Sometimes it is needed, sometimes not. You can be blunt, and some take offense at that. I see it more as not playing the games that almost every one does, of putting everything nicely and avoiding giving offense. First off, let me address Mathsnerd and our "issue". You see Maths, you did EXACTLY what I thought you'd do. I can read people like a book. I knew that if I posted something like this, you wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to flame...something I've received warning levels for. Not once have I ever addressed you in any post I've made, save for one, and you had that one coming. Your PM to me in IRC helped me understand just what kind of person you are. You see, you're not unlike me at all. You may not see it that way, but deep down, you and the other clan members who have seen your "wrath" and "disregard towards other clan members" know it's true. You think you're so smart, well if you were, you would have been able to see this coming and think of a democratic response. Instead, you hit the flame bucket head on and never thought about what you were doing...you did the same in our IRC conversation as well. Without batting an eye, you started flaming. Not once, as a leader here, did you think about trying to solve this little dispute in a manner which you were taught. I've seen numerous posts from you doing the exact same thing that you are accusing me of doing. So I will respond with some quotes from you: "You're not above the law. Don't try to act like it." Just because I'm only a "trial member" and you're a raid leader don't give you the right to treat me like shit. You, above everyone, including me, should know better than to start an argument like that in public. You're a leader for pete's sake. What's that say about your temperment? What you did is the same thing that I was warned for, so what will YOUR punishment be? It'll be nothing and good thing for you. Oh, and one more thing Maths, don't EVER question my loyalty, my patriotism or my military background again. I was defending my country while you were still a stain on the mattress and I'm very proud of the fact that I was able to do something that very few people are doing nowadays. I wouldn't change a thing. So you keep to what you know and leave my background out of it...and I'll do the same. Now, on to Gene. You know I have nothing but the utmost respect for you and would be there til the bitter end if you asked me to. It's what separates us from the rest, we'll go through any length and put differences aside for the sake of the clan. Another thing that makes us who we are is the mutual respect for each other even though we disagree on certain things. We can disagree all we want, we can post our differences, but when push comes to shove, you know that I'll always have your back. It's what makes us the good friends that we are. I will go out on a limb right now, in front of everyone, and tell you that I will TRY to get my points across as best I can without verbally bitchslapping them to oblivion. I believe I've held my tongue quite well considering the shit that's going on lately. You have to give me some kudos there. Owen, you know that "blow it out your ass" thing that we got going on? That was one of the quotes that was taken and used against me as being rude and disrespectful toward other clan members and contributed to one of my warning levels. I can't thank you enough for coming to bat for me. It shows me an awful lot about your character and what our friendship means to you. I've already told you what it means to me. To the newer people I've had the pleasure of meeting...Lefty, Raging, Vephyrus, Dilz, Lee, and Back To Own...for you all to come on this thread and post really means alot to me. I'm hoping to bridge the gap between each of us, which means, I'm hoping that we can become better friends. I'm certainly not against that. BTO, you asked me in your post whether or not I'm being intentional or if it comes naturally to me when I post my opinions in the fashion I do. All I can say, to be quite honest, is that it's a little of both. I always know what I'm saying so it IS intentional, and most of my responses just come naturally to me in the same way that I post. Sometimes I do it out of aggravation and sometimes, yes, I do it because it's fun. All in all, this is a great place for me to be. There are people here that I didn't expect to like me, there are those who look upon me as a father figure, and there are those who just tolerate me because they can't be bothered to get mixed up with the shit. What I will do right now, I don't do very often....ask anyone. Right now, I would like to take a second to apologize if I've insulted anyone, made anyone feel bad, posted negative comments in a disrespectful way, or anything else that made you feel like you didn't matter...you DO matter. You're a member of the Wilderness Guardians and as of right now, we're all in this together. So I'm very close to a decision here.
