QUOTE (leecable @ October 13, 2008 06:45 pm)
I know this is directed it me, and I am sorry. I didnt mean for it to come out so rudely, i was just angry at the fact that it didnt seem like anyone was listening.

But i only ment for it to be a suggestion. I just see it like that some people have rules and others dont. If your likes by someone with power, you can do what ever you want.

Take yesterday for example, Crucio joined the lobby. One of our H-ops, sat there and started to have a full blown convosation with someone that is banned from WG. He is in our Hall of Shame. I then said something about it, and nothing was done. All i got was, 'whats he doing wrong'. I then told another H-op, and they booted him. And he kept ban evading.

I really am sorry if I caused offence.

Anyone has a problem with me, pm me pl0x.
Dont bring it into this thread.

Dude....Rick Hamm, DT, Job, Noescape, and many other have been baned/are banned and they still go in lobby. If they don't go in to cause problems or wreak havoc then there isn't a problem with that.

I applied for Council because I feel I could handle the task. I'm sorry that you felt that because of my rank that I was unqualified, but I hope some day I'll be given the chance to prove my worth to you. As far as regrets to making the application, I have none. I'd do it 100 more times if given the chance, so, if you're aggravated at that, then there's no changing your mind anyways.

Good thing I wouldn't vote for you becuase with that atitude you wouldn't last in council for more than a week.

You showed how you deal with things and obviously don't deserve elite or higher IMO.
Stop causing a confrontation. You failed the requirements/necessities of being council.

I think that instead of letting the fight about the council election escalate into just that, someone could have stepped in and just said, "I'm sorry you can't apply because you aren't an Elite Guardian." Immediate problem would end there.

The deeper problem; why weren't Higher Guardians allowed to apply, could be discussed elsewhere.

Or, better yet, when the election was opened, it should have said WHY it was made Elite Guardian+ instead of Higher Guardian+ like the other elections.

Did anyone do that?

QUOTE
Once again, do not take applying for this role lightly.
If the above has not put you off, please fill out the forum below as long as you meet the criteria of:

-Minimum of Elite Guardian.
-More than 4 months since you applied to join WG.

Nope.

EDIT: Vince, a broken rule is a broken rule.
You could have spoken to the leadership in PM and delivered a case as to why you think higher guardians could apply. But you just consciously broke our rule and did what you wanted. As a result of your actions and others, a flame war has started and I've had to cancel the election. Why should it ever have come to that?

"I'm sorry, but still" what the fuck...
You're not sorry. You totally did it the wrong way and you're still with the mentality "if I'm not getting punished then its ok"... Do I really have to give you a warning level in order for you to know its not OK? I don't think either of us want that. You should, as an adult, know its not ok to just bluntly disrespect the rules.

Actually Gene, I did bring it up to Evil in a PM and he said he'd talk to you about it. But honestly, I was too impatient to wait. And the flame war didn't start because Higher Guardians applied, it started for other reasons. (Unless we're thinking of a different flame war?)

I'm sorry to say when you brung this up with me I did talk to Gene breifly about it Vince, but it was late and I left for bed soon after.

I have been frantic getting stuff organised this week so have not had time to follow it up.

I really agree here, I think having an honor system encourages members to take some responsibility for their own actions.  When a rule is in place the rationale that one should or should not do something is because of the rule and the resulting punishment or reward.  However, when there is no rule then the only reason for following the honor system is simply because it is the right or moral thing to do.

In the long run an honor system is actually a deeper more pervasive type of enforcement because it does not just work on a quid pro quo basis like rules do, it actually affects the ethos of the clan so that people are not constantly reliant upon rules to tell them right from wrong.  An honor system can also generate informal enforcements that are just as powerful as formal ones, for example abusing the honor system will be severely looked down upon by other clan members, and issues of not abiding by the honor system may come up when it comes to determining gaining ranks in the clan.  ~ Karlfishcher ~

This is a reply to another post of Gene's I found. I think he was trying more for something like this. He doesn't want to be the Police of the Forum or IRC or TS or even RS. Is this really a debate of who applied for council? I think it is way more than just this one thing but I could be wrong.

Kiwi as a seasoned guardian, I'm disappointed in your rude behavior.

I don't think your'e wrong either Rachel. It's a conglomerate of alot of things. Some of which nobody is willing to talk about or acknowledge. THIS, in my opinion, is where the clan is failing.

Someone needs to take the ball and run with it or nothing will change. Nice guys finish last as the old saying goes.

Kiwi, you and I get along great because we're not afraid to speak our mind. That is what differentiates us from everyone else. Anytime anyone, me included, starts interjecting with a different viewpoint, it'll always be the masses, the "sheep" if you will, who will come to defend their turf. Not saying that's a bad thing at all, I'm just saying, that's why we are the way we are. If it weren't for guys like Kiwi and myself, there are two things which would be certain...1. the rest of you wouldn't have anyone to fight or argue with, and 2. the clan would never improve.

Speaking your mind has benefits, but it can also make you unpopular.
It's great to have confidence to raise touchy issues...
But it is also important to show some self restraint, because some things you say are plain rude.
