I'm thinking of getting this on Friday. Which add on should I get and do you think I'll like the game or always be dying.

I'm a bit worried about it cause I don't want to not play rs anymore. ohmy.gif

Let's discuss.

You'll want an add-on that will help you with quests. I personally like using Carbonite, but Quest Helper is a lot of people's choice (Carbonite is prettier wink.gif ) Some people love WoW (most people I suppose) that are willing to try it, yet others don't like it at all and prefer Runescape. Don't be afraid of trying something because you might find it better tongue.gif .

One thing about WoW that is dissapointing to me is the community compared to Runescape. I haven't seen a guild that has anything close to WG's community since everything is basically based on the in-game chat where as here you have to make your own community and way of communicating. It's one reason I think most of us that now play WoW stick around on these forums.

Oh and the type of server, I'm guessing you'll want a PvE server.

Everyone dies a lot in WoW. A LOT. You don't really lose anything though, just some money towards repairing your equipment.

It's also not about not dying, it's about not dying for dumb reasons. Especially in raids.

I have a forum for my guild on WoW where I spent most of my time >.>

When you start out, you'll have hundreds of questions. I know I did. As you level up you get introduced to new things throughout the game. But there's still thousands of things you'll have to learn. The really nice thing about WoW is that once you eventually do reach the level cap (80) thats when 80% of the games perks unlock for you: Raiding, Arenaing, etc. So there's really no way you can ever "win" at it as there's always some way to improve.

World of Warcraft - 1 to 60
Exp: The Burning Crusade - 60 to 70
Exp: Wrath of the Lich King - 70 to 80

actually my guild has a great community for the 40 active members or so that we have(never 25 at the same time though FFS).....we all call each other by each others first name and laugh and stuff....its a good time....

that is actually the reason i haven't gone to a different guild thats top 10 raiding in my realm....I mean honestly, I still havent even seen all of naxx so I am fine w/ progression even if my guild has downed them all....

Well yes, you can probably get in a good community if you join a community guild, but you will have to sacrifice top end raiding/PvP. I suppose it's the same in WG.

Bullshit. Lots of raiding guilds have GREAT communities. When you're stuck with the same group of people several hours a night, the bad eggs get dropped by the wayside rather fast.

I raid with the same 25-35 people three days a week for 4 hours a night. Raiding is a much different term in WoW then in Runescape, of course. In World of Warcraft, a "raid" is something that you need many people with you to complete - Usually a boss encounter.

The reason I find myself so close to my guildmates is because the coordination you need to defeat these encounters tests everyone patience and cooperation with one another. Imagine having a task that required to-the-second precision, and if you screwed up, so would the 24 others in that "raid" with you. Luckily, learning how not to screw up is one of the experiences of raiding, and you can even get some laughs out of it. Because at the end of the night, even if you improved a little, it's progress and will help the next time you're there. This is the PvE (Player vs Enviorment) side of WoW. The difficulty in encounters can range from extremely easy to hard, so no matter your skill level, there's always something out there for you.

The PvP side of WoW has raids as well, thugh not as command as they were a couple years back. These raids consist of usually 4 or more people rampaging through an enemy city in hopes of controlling it just for some fun and honor (a currency in which PvP items are attained). For the most part though, the PvP part of WoW lies in Battlegrounds and Arenas. Arenas are a competition in which you fight opponents that are matched at your skill lvel (sort of like Halo matcmaking systems on live). Where BGs are random and a way of gaining currency to receive better gear.

In WoW, there are many different servers you may choose from, comparin it to RS, it's like your permanent "world". There are PvP worlds, in which players always have the opportunity ot kill you, and PvE worlds in which you have to "flag" yourself for those players can attack you. There are also RP (role-playing) realms if you're into more of the lore-based part of the game.

My best experiences in WoW are probably defeating an encounter with those 24 other people I mentioned after wiping (everyone dieing) on it for the past week. The screams going on through-out Ventrilo are awe inspiring. Personally, I'm a raid leader for my guild, meaning I direct those other 24 people in their roles through the encounter, so it might be a bit of a better feeling for me. When I'm not raiding, I'm just hanging out on Vent finishing some work or participating in other parts of the game while chatting with friends over Vent and a few others using the i-game chat.

How many member of WG have you had sleep on your couch for a week after their marriage fall apart?

I went to our GM's wedding, I've hung out with people in my guild, just randomly meeting up where ever.

How many people have you called to make sure they were all right when they didn't show up to a raid they had 100% attendance for, for the last 18 months?

That's a community. Not posted trash like "oh lawls, tbh i dunt hink that cuty lolz hash.pnghash.png"

Ya rly, i've met tons of my guildmates, one of them is a guy i've known for 3 years, who lives 2-3 hours away from me. We get together at LEAST once a month.

Hell, I had to bail my GM out of jail once during a RL meet. That was entertaining.

When my computer broke and I missed a raid, I recieved 8 phone calls from the officers, and a bunch of calls and texts from the other raiders, just checking to see if I was alright.

These guys know me better than some of my friends do.
