 Not saying likability isn't important, but qualifications should be the MOST important, and do be quite frank it's not held in the regard it should be.

Someone who is liked by everyone isn't the better leader when compared to someone who is able to critically think about the situation at hand based on past leadership experience and make the RIGHT decision.

One who is liked might have a decent following, but the fact is when the going gets tough, the leader won't know what to do and because people will follow him, they'll mimic him and that will drag us down even more.

So, I stand by my QFT comment (not saying you felt I should remove it). People will read the names of the applicants and vote based on that, only a select group of people will read what was written and take it into account along with their personal opinions and biases.

 i can speculate that gorgemaster was chosen as a popularity vote =D

i can also demonstrate people in real life who popularity got them in deeper inner struggles compared to those that didn't have a showboat but worked their way and gained exp.
