There's no going up or down it's sort of off in its own corner and it doesn't compare to the ranks system. How I have it worked out after some thought, and Randy's first lvl 4 post, is that he starts without security forum access and then we add security access to the rank over time. -------------------- | ||

This is what I was just about to suggest. While security forums are not that great, they still are a reward that comes with their respective ranks. I would not see it fair for Keanu to be allowed to see Level 4 or even Level 3, and hell Level 2, after 2 weeks in the clan. --------------------      | ||

Noone was easily offended at all, people even forgave inclan scammers (whips if people recall) but, now its after about 5 years when I come back to the clan again its the complete opposite.... people say one little thing and they are so offended that immense drama occurs. People complain to raid leaders and cause them to stress and deal out ridiculous punishments for petty ridiculous offenses. To sum it up I see most people in WG power hungry, to competitive with your own team mates, and scared your authority will be undermined and you lash out harshly on little offenses to try make yourself look good when your actually putting those lashes against your name. Everyone needs to take a step back, relax you all realise this is a game you are all taking it wayyyyyyyyy to seriously and maybe take a break if its that intense that everyone takes offense to people decisions even though the decisions are for good intent for the clan. Respect the leaders, respect your council, Respect your team mates your clan mates, Work as a team and maybe you will all get along like we used to. For the clan not for your own benefit in the clan. --------------------  | ||

Please don't bring my own ranks into it. At the time, there /was/ no real intro system, and the ranks were /completely/ different. Also, at the time, as Eugene has said several times, he and he alone decided who made it into the clan; It was only on a whim that I was even let in when I was... That being said, this is also different. A better parallel would be if I decided to leave for a few months, and then came back. Would you force me to go back up through the ranks before getting my position? Probably not. ---- That being said, I agree with Eugene and Rachel on this, I was the one who created the rank again and physically promoted him(after seeing logs from Eugene and Rachel stating that it was what he was going to get). If people care /that much/ about shown rank, well, we can give him trial or w/e and have his permissions overridden(which is what I did earlier for him) ... It was the wikia that he wrote that convinced me to join this clan. That being said, i don't mind him being historian rank with all the benefits, mainly because i'm not even sure what the benefits are, but i am a bit annoyed by the favouritism you're showing to him. I know you're really great friends and all, but is it worth making most people feel mad? I don't understand why you aren't going to let him work his way up again, like most of us are doing/have done. From what I can see he's a great guy, but just wait until we all accept him? --------------------

I browse the forums regularly (at least once every day), so I have some semblance of what is going on. Without going into any other reasons for Keanu to be given or not given the rank, it should be clear with the responses in this thread. If a majority of people are against a "promotion" to the historian rank when only three people (as I write this) are in favor of it that's enough to not let it happen. Not because it's a majority decision or vote, but because the outcome of the decision. Since the clan is not run as a democracy the leaders can do anything they so choose - but that doesn't mean their choices come without reactions. There are only so many things that can happen if Keanu were to become Historian while the majority of the clan isn't in favor of it. One, everyone would shrug it off even after opposing it and thing would go on as normal, recruitment might increase some from the updated information. Two, everyone who opposed it now has grudges against the leadership for making the decision, Keanu for accepting the rank (after just regaining most everyone's trust), and general outcry that could lead to much worse problems then you solve by giving him the rank in the first place. Which option sounds more likely to happen if Keanu were to be placed in that rank? The first which is the best case scenario (what are the chances of the entire clan being completely unresponsive to the decision) or the second which could have problems that would stem more issues than there are to begin with. All that is ignoring any other reasons to give or hold the rank. That's just what *could* happen if it did. The one benefit if giving Keanu a Historian rank is recruitment. Is there not any other way to gain those results without Keanu being there? Could he not simply relay the information to those that already have access? A weekly PM with updates and changes isn't too difficult to adjust to and would probably save time for both Keanu and the staff instead of consistent updates. Is there no one else who can handle the responsibilities that is already in the staff (or has it even been asked if someone would accept those responsibilities?) Until now I've not spoken anything involving Keanu's past, "kiss-ass"ing, leadership bias, or the simply fact of only being in the clan for an extremely short period of time. So ignore all of that and see if the clan's reaction to being given the rank is worth the rank itself. --------------------   | ||

But no matter how sure I am about something, there is a lot of opposition (majority...). I wouldn't want to upset that. You have already talked about the 'Mist' situation to resolve people leaving... It just depends if they feel as strongly about this as those Americans felt before. I know leadership has last say - ofc I do. But maybe this issue requires a vote... We certainly don't comprise a majority, but being the oldest of the leaders (well, at least Rachel and myself) counts for something in terms of seasoned wisdom. You're taking everything way too seriously. Stop living WG like it is a second life. Ranks were not intended to have as much value as you have imbues them with. Ranks are there to serve purpose, and I have assigned Keanu a specific purpose. You are all completely blind to the legitimacy of my actions because you are caught up in this articificial power struggle. I repeat what I said six months ago. Take a step back from the life you are creating, or perhaps go reread Fuls' post. What wrong have I done YOU personally by making Keanu a historian. Do you feel like this threatens your chances to climb some artificial ranks? EDIT: Keith, trust me I am equally sickened by the way their priorities got mixed up.
