I'd just like to point out, RACHEL, that had the roles been reversed, and it had been a tertiary saying those things to Rick Hamm, he would have assploded had I chosen NOT to take action. I see no reason to show any more bias in favour of rick hamm than I admittedly already have (i.e. the situation wherein he flamed over the council nominations topic, and quite simply deserved a warn level - I chose not to award it to allow for him to change - Well... That happened? :S)

I usually think about these things without including their names and personalities, in order to make a fair decision. I knew that anyone in the tertiaries position held the right to have action taken upon the person who is flaming.

First time in Hall of Shame.
And each time he came back, it was harder for him to do so.
This time he had to spend a couple of weeks convincing us.
Next time I doubt he'll be back.
I really doubt it.
It feels final this time.

Mostly because we said to him:
"You've had many final chances before, but this is the VERY VERY final chance that would shame WG if ever overridden"

Mugger, I only gave the definition. I think you told me that I didn't know what it is. That was a sharing moment. I'm sure you have justified your actions. I believe in the quotes the members were referring to themselves and not Rick Hamm. Please reread.

Lordy, where in that post did anyone say anything about Muggers? As stated above to Muggers, I believe Steve was referring to his own situation with another clan mate that has been repeatedly flaming him. Steve is sharing he would like to see action taken about it even though he is not a staff person. I'm only 80% thinking I might know who that is.

I did not know Rick, so I have no personal opinion either way on whether he deserved to be banned. However, as a new member of this clan, I would like to weigh in on my thoughts about this process.

First off...since he apparently has been banned before, what redemption process did he go through that allowed him back in? Unless it was a formal and well thought out decision to allow him to rejoin...I see no real purpose in banning him in the first place if it is not truly a permanent ban.

Secondly, when the warning were issued in the past for flaming, was the entire conversation submitted for review as opposed to a select sentence or two? Since Rick had been a member before, he no doubt had issues with ppl here. As savy as this group is, and as hot headed as he apparently was, I doubt it would have been hard to provoke him into losing his temper and flaming, even if it is against the rules. So my hope is that the entire context of the conversation that led up to the flaming was taken into consideration, and both parties warned if he was indeed provoked.

And lastly, having said all this, I have to support my leaders in their decision and hope that it was a fair and just one.

Well, Rick was like a brother to me. So im quite miffed he's gone. But to be honest, constant flaming, doesnt help him. 100% warn is 100% warn, simple as.

People just seem to know how to wind rick up, which is quite pathetic, others dont know there doing it. Never mind hey, He'll be back.

You are going to be a truly fantastic member. happy.gif Just to explain a bit though, as far as I can. I first joined WG in June of 2005, and by then Rick was already a council member. Councils change, and everyone's different and brings different strengths to the table, but from a historical, old school perspective, I feel confident in saying that was the best council we really ever had (Jenny/Dorcha3377, Rick/Rick Hamm, and Joe/Jesusislord6).

Because of his past involvement, and how much Rick has really done for the clan in the past, he's stocked up on bazillions of tolerance points which have earned him numerous second chances over the past few years. Combined with the fact that many of us came to very much respect him during those times, he's a hard guy to shake off.

No matter what system is in place or how things work, there are always exceptions to any rule, and Rick has been given several. That said, he has definitely changed in the last few years. I think I know a few of the reasons why, but it's not my business to share them or anyone else's to inquire. I'm pretty sure that whatever happened the ban was truly deserved, no matter how much I'd like to think otherwise.
QUOTE (Eregion2)
If Rick comes back this is the wrong way to go about it. It should be his decision and his responsibility to become an active member of the community once again. Frankly I don't think it's a good idea; based on past experience I can't possibly see how it'd work out without him getting banned again (probably for a well-deserved reason ... honesty bites).

[....]

If he rejoins I think it'll be awesome, if he can behave himself.

The decision is up to him though, and shouldn't be clouded by a bunch of people asking him to come back in some sort of petition. Whatever his decision is I'll stand by him, but I'm not going to be an excuse for him.
We've kind of encouraged Rick to keep this up in the past by being compatriots to his ego; friends is fine but I think it's about time we stopped running to him thinking he'll come in and slap everyone into line like the old days and do all our work for us. It doesn't help us and it definitely isn't helping him, so we need to be taking our own share of responsibility from here on as well.

Cheers.

<3 I love you Wayne. Those were good times.
Newer members here who don't know Rick are getting the impression that he is an awful person who does nothing but cause misery.

I first met Rick Hamm shortly after joining WG in 2004. He is a person of great strength. He is always willing to sit down and talk to someone if they need him.
He is generous in his time, and a very good leader.
He has an uncanny knack to see through people and be able to look at their souls.
When that beam is focused on you, you have to breathe a little slower.
His ability to care and love are with out bounds. If you are a friend he will do anything for you to protect and take care of you.
He also has a temper, one that is like a pillar of flame, you can be consumed in it if you are not careful.

Please don't think he is some kind of monster, he is one of the good guys in this game. He just got off on the wrong foot.

This is almost freaky about him. Seriously, I've seen him firmly declare that so-and-so is bad news, and staunchly defend his views even though everyone else in the clan thinks he's being too much of a pain in the ass. And then, a week or three weeks later, he'll be 110% vindicated and everyone's like WTF HOW'D YOU DO DAT! ohmy.gif

I <3 you too Jen. wub.gif

Jenny speaks the truth.

I used to be one of the people that got into arguments with Rick, but after taking a step back, I realized he was actually a great guy. He had a hard time getting across what he was thinking.

He not a bad guy.

Jenny, your exactly right about Rick. I spent a good bit of time getting to know Rick, before I knew any of his history with WG. I met him in the lobby and thought he was maybe a future intro. I had no idea of any of his temper or ban or anything. I totally fell in love with his personality and his wisdom. He was extremely fun to play rs with. All the stuff about the clan wasn't in the way of enjoying his company.

I am very sad to see him leaving, but his leaving will not affect our friendship. I am hopeful that as he is working through his own life issues. On his return he will be in a better place to tolerate situations that inflame him. My thought is maybe a 4 month ban would of been a better punishment. He would still have to come back and start all over again, but at least it gives him a goal and the rest of us hope for his return.

Yeah Rick could be a great guy, fun to talk to, etc, but I just don't think he could ever last in an environment that is run by kids as he obviously gets annoyed with them quite often. tongue.gif

But honestly, any action not taken after that WOULD be bias, not the other way around folks.

Point being: He can be a cool guy, but is no fit for a place like WG.

No he won't.
He's permanently banned... veryevilgrin.gif

He was last time, and the time before..... and the time before that etc. nothing is ever permanent in WG.

Can't say this surprises me, shame to see him go though unsure.gif
