Overhealing is BAD.

Basically, an overheal is a "wasted" heal, meaning you healed a target that was at full health. For example, if a target is down 9k HP, and you holy light them for 11k (Just throwing numbers out), the portion of the heal that actually heals them (In this case, 9k of that 11k heal which puts them at full health) is your effective healing, but since they were down only 9k, and you healed them for 11k, the remaining 2k of that heal was "wasted", called an overheal. So for that 11k heal, 9k was effective with a 2k overheal.

So to break that down into comparisons between you and the number 2 guy, yes, you did twice as much "actual" healing than him, but you also WASTED triple his amount. Basically, he's being the more conservative healer, whereas you're spamming the shit out of everything with 15k (again, just a number) holy lights even if they're only 900 hp in the hole.

Generally speaking though, as long as noone dies and you don't go OOM, overhealing isn't THAT critical to manage, though if you overheal a lot, you'll get your ass kicked on mana intensive fights. From my limited knowledge of paladins though, you'll generally overheal a lot if you're a partial or full time raid healer, since that's just how your class works. If you REALLY want to be the best possible healer, you can try and reduce your overhealing, but as long as you're not having problems, it's not something to lose sleep over.

Keep in mind though, that i'm not a healer, so everything I just said is all second hand or personal deductions.

I left around 4 hours in. Did Sapph and KT really take that long? If so then I'm glad I left early. I was getting frustrated with all the delays, plus I had to work early in the morning.

And yeah Sam, everything Matt said about overhealing is pretty much true.

they are pretty decent in pvp, somehow just beat Rezi(an officer in SD) in a duel just now, i feel so empowered beating a disc priest who has pvp rating more than me......probably wont stop them from flying into wintergrasp keep when its alliance controled and raping all alliance toons though

Rotation: Start with a mind blast, throw up SW:P, wand, repeat (without the SW:P)

All characters have a shitty boring rotation at the start. When you get up to including Mind Flay, Vampiric Touch, Devouring Plague, and Shadow Word: Death, things get fun, trust me. I have no regrets leveling a shadow priest as my main.

My current "rotation" (if you could call it that, because its more of a priority system) on a boss is as follows:

VT, DP, MB, SW:D, Mind Flay until I get 5 stacks of that shadow power thingy (Can't remember the name), then interrupt the mind flay with SW: P.) Then it goes on a priority system, which is VT/DP, then MB, then SW: D. Mind flay is always a filler, and should be interrupted if another DoT or spell is over/off cooldown.

This is bosses only, obviously. On trash or soloing, I go a little more basic. MB, DP or SW:P, SW:D, Mind flay. Obviously if the trash is something like the two guys before emalon, I'll throw on a full range of DoTs because they take longer to go down.
