Not true at all, Aion is announcing the public open beta this week. You can download the client by making an account at www.plaync.com . This will allow you to be prepared if you wish to play it when the beta opens.

If he had a roommate THAT committed to WoW I can't help but think they'd have pummeled each other to death by now.

You mistake me for someone who has a problem with WoW players, which I do not. I have a problem with the game not being able to entertain me. That is all. Have you not been reading? That is why I think it is a bad game, because it isn't interesting at lower levels. You've also not read that my room mate is now bored of the game and him and his guild are coming to Aion.

Guild Wars failed to entertain me at lower levels. Win!

I'll probably try Aion sometime just because of all the hype I'm hearing.

yes but the closed beta was only like like 4 days every monthish from what I saw, maybe 3 weeks.

and there have been 6 beta events(just to make sure the english team is doing everything they can to make the game englishified from korean)

Didn't notice your question. A few things that I have noticed coming to WoW after Aion's announcement they added a "remodel" armor feature abilities auto-scale on level up, and archeologist profession to find relics to advance your character further (AKA STIGMA). There are a couple more similarities that I could find but I forget what they are atm.


My room mate would also like me to let you know he has defeated Yogg, and he would also like me to add this is before they nerfed him.

I was somewhat carried through it. Like I said, it was my first time doing Yogg (10) but the guild has done 1 light for a few weeks in a row now. Basically on farm.

Hard to say, really. There are 3 main servers: Normal, RP (Roleplaying, doubt you're into that), and PvP (Here, players of opposing factions can attack each other anywhere except certain major cities.)

Normal is recommended if you want to level up quickly and don't want to deal with the hassle of someone over 9000 levels higher than you killing you over and over. Faction is more about looks than anything, although your faction will have a huge impact if you join a server with a low number of players in that faction (My server is Alliance dominant, so a horde player may have trouble end-game finding the right guild for them, etc)

Your race often doesn't matter, although some races are better suited for certain classes. Don't fret, if you pick the wrong race/class combination you don't need to re-roll another character. You might be missing some small bonuses another race has, but it is not significant.

Melee:
Rogue
Warrior
Paladin
Druid
Shaman
Death Knight (Unavailable until you have one character at level 55)

Ranged:
Priest
Warlock
Hunter
Mage
Druid
Shaman

Tank:
Paladin
Druid
Death Knight
Warrior

Healer:
Paladin
Priest
Shaman
Druid

As you can see, each class can have multiple roles, while some classes are restricted to one. The Melee and Ranged would be your typical damage dealers, and the others are self explanatory. At higher levels you can and very likely will switch how you play your class (I use my priest for damage and sometimes switch to healing when I need to). So I'd recommend picking a class that can take on multiple roles so you can try many different aspects of the game without having to make a new class each time. The only class that fits all 4 roles is a druid, but that doesn't mean they are the best. Pick wisely.

I was overhearing a freya +3 fail on vent today. It went on for a few hours. I wasn't invited to the raid, though. My leader was going on about how they got Con-speed-atory AND knockx3 two weeks in a row (AKA didn't wipe on knock X3) So he was pissed, needless to say. Not sure if they ever got it, it went on for awhile.

Don't kid yourself, TOC is a fucking joke, the heroic versions might be a bit more challenging, but currently, it's all really pathetic.
