I lived in Africa where there really is shit all to do. Can't drink the water for fear of God knows what. Can't eat the vegetables or fruits without washing them. Crime rate is so high if you go out after six your chances of being robbed, raped or killed have just doubled or trippled. They dislike anyone that doesn't speak French, or tries to speak English to them. All the food is crap, even the "good" food. Shit has metal in it; a pizza I had once had a metal spring inside it...a spring. Any service you get (not sexual) is slow. Food takes at least one hour to get to the table, and that's if you're lucky. Then the food doesn't even taste that great. Exchange rate is pretty nice, but then you see the prices of shit and then not so much. Plus, it smells like shit. Well, that, plus urine. Plus the worst B.O you've ever had to endure. That is because nobody takes a bath - no joke. They cover themselves with some sort of powder, which is "supposed" to mask the smell, but only combines with the B.O to make it even worse. Then, there is seriously nothing to do. Even if there was, you'd have no sensible way of getting there. You could take a taxi if you wanted to get mugged, walk if you wanted to get mugged, or stay home, and possible still get mugged. If you got wherever it was you wanted to go safely, stuff was crap. Alcohol, was alright, but pricey. You could get a prostitute if you wanted, but then you'd be getting AIDS and about 10 other things that probably don't even have names yet. Yeah...it's bad. Vietnam is better than most places. If you're really that miserable, take what money you've got left and fly to the Philippines, that's where I am and it's awesome. --------------------   | ||

I was in Cameroon, I think it's worse off than Mali, but I'm not sure. Not itching to live in Africa again I'll say that much, well, unless it's South Africa because it's nice there, just quite a bit of crime. Vietnam was once occupied by France since the late 1800s. As far as I know the senior citizens are pretty well-versed in French, not necessarily the current generation, which mostly speaks just Vietnamese. I'm surprised if they actually speak Mandarin *?* P.S.
