Let me put it to you this way. I wanted to kill Sinestra, but my guild couldn't kill Sinestra. So I had to find another guild to kill Sinestra. I didn't feel like actually quitting my guild, because I kind of like it here, so I found another guild who could take me to kill Sinestra. However, that's something of an inconvenience, especially when that guild is ranked #10 in the US - they get pesky people like me banging on the door pretty often. So we agreed on an adequate level of compensation and I got to raid with them for a week. I never wiped them, I never killed anyone else through my own stupidity, and I was alive at the end of every new fight I saw. I also came very damn close to being ranked on World of Logs on Sinestra. After we were done, we all shook hands, they told me I was one of the best buyers they'd ever had run with them, and I have an open offer to cite them as references if I ever do decide to apply to another guild. So you can take that pretentious snobbery and shove it right up your ass.

That doesn't mean anything, You paid to get carried through an instance, without doing the hard yards that every other guild everyone else does. I used to sell ulduar runs and ulduar drakes to people like you, what you should do is actually get in a good guild and do the hard yards like everyone else does. Ill keep my elitist comments where they are needed and I think people that pay there way through content don't deserve it/

Also having them lie about being in a their guild is even worse? lemme guess they offered that to you in the package deal. Heres a tip, Dont tell other people that you do that because your just gonna get shat on by trolls everywhere you go.

I don't really care what trolls have to say about anything I do, which is potentially naive but basically I think they're pretty funny when they pout about shit just because it lets them feel virile, however pathetically. If anything, WG gave me a tough skin during my years here, so they can say whatever they like.

About putting in less effort, so I don't "deserve" it, I've been putting in full raid weeks since early January. If it was just up to me, I honestly think I'd be at least H:10/13 right now, except I can't personally pick up the slack for an entire 25-man raid. That's part of why I buy kills like this, to test myself and see if I can do better than the guild I'm in.

Back in Wrath I bought a 25-man Lich King kill because the guild I was in at the time couldn't get past professor putricide. Last week I bought H:13/13 because the guild I'm in right now can't get past H:6/13. When I am able to function at the same level as the guilds I'm buying the kills from, who are the actual failures in these scenarios?

I've only been raiding since ToC in Wrath, so quite honestly I'm not sure how good of a raider I am. I've been climbing through guilds steadily, albeit slowly, and I'm currently in the "best" 25-man guild on the server. I'm not sure if I want to leave the server to find a better guild, I've been here for years and I have friends here.

But I don't see why I should penalize myself when I can afford to test myself against this content while it's still relevant. Achievements, titles, and loot is fun. Horrah. Seeing fights like Sinestra is even better, and H:Council was pretty fun too. But what I really want out of this is to test my own boundaries and learn from a great guild.

IF I do eventually find a better guild to join, which would be better? Herp derp I'm H:6/13 it's my guild's fault I can do better I can feel it with my brain, or I'm H:6/13, bought I bought H:13/13 right before patch 4.2; here's links to the logs and references from the guild I ran with for a week, they can give you an idea of my capabilities.

I talked to several guilds before doing this, and I outright refused every one of them who wouldn't let me play my own character. I paid up because I realize that's an almost ridiculous inconvenience for many guilds, but I did it. And I enjoyed it. And I learned from it. I have more confidence in my raiding ability now, and I had fun.

Frankly I wouldn't be wearing any of the titles I got last week if I didn't think I'd earned them by functioning at an appropriate level based on the content in question. Yes, that was easier on me than if I'd "earned" them alongside a guild in progression, but when there isn't a 25-man guild on my server that's actually that progressed to begin with, my alternatives are rather limited.

I'm contemplating finding another guild, although I'll at least give the one I'm in right now a shot at Firelands. Maybe we just need an energy boost from new content, I don't know.

I also have a feeling we'll drop T11 content dead after patch 4.2, so I'm hoping I can find a few people who are interested in running T11 hardmodes on weekends, because hell, they were FUN. And I wouldn't mind actually re-earning them the "hard way" given the opportunity. Not sure if I'll find people or have the time, but I'd like to. I'll also be "earning" my achievement drake, although feel free to criticize the fact that I probably won't get it finished until towards the end of T12.

Given ALL of that, I still don't think paying to be carried is wrong, even if that's straight up what I did. If someone pays off a guild, and suicides in the first 5 seconds of every fight just to get it all with zero effort, that's fine by me. As long as they don't lie about how they got it, which I'm not. If someone asks where I got Dragonslayer, my immediate answer is I bought it off server. They can chew on that however much they damn well please, because thank GOD I don't have to answer to other people about what I do with my own time and money. Welcome to capitalism.

Not sure what the lying about being in a guild part was from, exactly.
