You could also install a trial version of this:

http://www.sophos.co.nz/

I have a free corprate (enterprise) version of it through work, and it is the same antivirus that is used by Central and Local Govt which in NZ, which gives you an idea of how secure it actually is.

http://www.sophos.co.nz/products/small-business/eval.html

I gaurantee it shits all over avast (and after 30 days, get rid of it if you dont wanna pay for it and get a free one).

Note you'll probably need to find sophos in your country as those are .co.nz links neko2.gif

Considering you requested a *free* anti virus. I would have to recommend Avast, I've used it for over a year and its excellent. The only thing you have to do, is to request a free one year key from their site (and make sure to re-request at the end of the year) its simple (free) and its emailed to you right away.

All of these were downloaded on limewire by my sister. Shes such a div, so easy to spot bad files on there but shes retarded lmao

I would not only recommend keeping avast, but also adding on to it. I also suggest getting Comodo Firewall. They work great together, and I've yet to have a virus get past both of them.

billy, to get RS to run smoothly it would have to be a component problem, maybe you don thave enough RAM or your graphics card driver is outdated and u need to DL a new one, or maybe get an entire new card. You could also have slow internet and RS takes up too much bandwidth.

it could also possibly be ur hard drive cant process information as fast as it should, but thats highly unlikely.

It may help a little if you use the Jagex client to play rs on. It's just a shell for the game, nothing else to it. Which can cut down on toolbars and everything else. Try it.

Two words: "Processor" and "Graphics Card"

I realise that's actually 3 words but I think I'll live.

- You need at least a 1.5ghz processor for RSHD so get a 3.0ghz of course, or better yet a duo/quad core. Always buy new.

- You need the equivalent of a nVidia GeForce 3 for RSHD so get a nVidi GeForce 8 series card of course. Make sure the driver's updated and all.

- The more RAM, the better. Go for 2-3GB at minimum I'd say.

- Get rid of Limewire and go buy a CD or two, noob. That'll save you from a load of viruses and crap. At minimum get AVG but if I could reccomend an antivirus get Kaspersky, because German tech is ftw. Do a full scan.

- Get rid of excess crap Eg. unused programs which take up space, files, etc. If needed, an external hard drive is really useful.

- Get Firefox

- Get a 1280x1024 monitor

- Get OS Vista or Windows 7 if you haven't already

- Make yourself admin if you're not already

You now have the ultimate RSHD-playing machine

Ok, try again

Processor is like a square chip thing with a shedload of pins on the underside. It um.. processes blink.gif Basically the better processor you have, the better your computer runs. In general.

To check your processor go to My Computer. If you're on XP you have a link on the left that says "View System Information", click that. If not, go to Control Panel > System. The bit under "General" where it says Computer tells you what you need to know.

You want:
> 1.5ghz CUP (Preferrably 3.0+)
> 256MB of RAM (Preferrably 2-3+ GB)

Be careful when getting a new one - ALWAYS BUY NEW -, they're not the easiest things to manually install. If you've got a Dell, just go on the dell website and it gives you step-by-step instructions on replacing hardware.

Graphics card basically defines how good your display runs. The card itself looks like any old card fopr your computer and fits into an AGP, PCI or PCI-E slot inside so you'll have a plug for the monitor cable at the back. Usually.

Still on System Properties to go the "Hardware" tab and hit "Device Manager"

Open the "Display Adaptors" option and it'll tell you the name of your Graphics card. On Jagex forums there's a topic somewhere, I dunno, it'll show the compatability of your graphics card.

You want:
> Better than nVidia GeForce 3 or equvalent (Preferrably something in the GeForce 7-8+ series)

Don't forget to update the driver (Right-click and Update Driver) cause that's a great problem-solver in itself.

If you need a new graphics card, it's easy to install - just make sure it's compatible with your computer. I bought a PCI-E card for my computer only to open it up and find I had no PCI-E slots woeh.gif

Hope that helps dude

Processor is ok, for a dual core, thats acceptable (but low end)
Ram is ok, again, a little on the low side but not by much

Your big problem looks like the graphics card, right now your computer is running on the built in one, what you would need is a dedicated (plug in) card, ATI and nVidia both make good cards, without knowing more about your computer i wouldn't know what to recommend. (You aren't running a laptop are you? If you are, you can't upgrade your graphics)
