Ok so I've done some looking around, haven't found any solutions so I'm gonna try here for some ideas.

My problem:

On the windows vista log on screen, the system goes into rediculous lag to the point where if I type in my password, it takes a minute for the full thing to appear in the text box and verify my password. This used to be performed in real time so sometimes gone screwy.

Also, the security screen that pops up when you run an "untrusted" program generates a ton of lag in the cursor movement and to my knowledge does not go away until i somehow move the cursor and click on the "i trust this program now run it" box.

Running vista business 32-bit.

For the second problem, I recommend turning UAC off (Can be done in Control panels, user accounts options thingy). That gets rid of those annoying popups that you shouldn't need anyway. That is, as long as you aren't DLing porn 24/7.

You can try doing an "upgrade" install, or running SFC /scannow if there is an obvious windows problem one of those two will likely fix it.

I use the exact same thing, with no issues.

I strongly suspect that your hard drive might be a bit full, or there are programs running in the background that are sucking up CPU. Hit Ctr-alt-delete, open up the task manager, and look at what your usage is, and what's the biggest blood sucker.

Give me any other information, I hope I can help you.

For the passwords, is it for all programs, or runescape-specific?

You can also use msconfig or services.msc (just type it in the run box) to control what starts up with your computer, I find it very helpful for speeding up boot times.

Services are pretty trimmed. Hard drive is about 4 GB away from full though. I'm going to give the sfc thing a run.

Sam, I have XP as my secondary boot platform. I choose not to use unless I have to because to tell you the truth, I can see a difference in performance so far between the two on my laptop.

You can try a disk cleanup (make sure to include system files)

And yes, I do remember the name Abmanju (which is either a good thing or a bad thing, its been so long I can't always remember why something stuck in memory tongue.gif)

I have a few different cropped versions of that user pic on my media server, and was going to get around to re-adding it to my profile eventually (now I don't have to remember to dig through my stuff and find it biggrin.gif Thanks!)... for the past Year and a half or so, I haven't been using the Blue Wizard, I found a Red version smile.gif
