There's a culture of casual attendance in WG, as there has been for a while.
Members don't take events seriously.

I have thought long and hard upon this.
It comes down to motivation and morale.

In peoples minds, bad things are associated with certain events.
KF was successful because people would associate KF with victory.
KF raids did have several failures, but people don't remember that.
They block that out because early on, KF ANCHORED a certain feeling in people.

Similarly, raids now ANCHOR negative feelings in members.
You think raid, and the pro-PVPers will think:

1. A chance to climb the ranks
2. The thrill of the kill
3. Settling clan rivalries
4. Showing skill and tactical brilliance

Anti-PVPers will think:

1. Bored one minute, dead the next
2. Expensive
3. People being forceful and aggressive

And that's why we have this dichotomy.
You think raid, and it's either a pleasure or a pain.
For too many members, it is a chore.

I happen to have reasonable talent in reversing this sort of thing.
So here's the plan.

A clan movie is up there. A new one.
We all need a reminder of how rich our heritage is.
We all need to know what PKing means to WG.
This will take me about 4 months, but it's an investment that pays off.
Expect animation like you have never before seen from His Lordship.
(Click HERE to watch the last one)
^If you haven't seen the last clan movie I made, you are missing out^

Ok that's one solution, but I'd be crazy to put all my effort into a flash movie.
The movie is the motivator, but we need much more than that.

It's time to start associating positive things with PVP.
Small challenges. No stretching over our limits.
We'll make easy fights. Less experimenting.
Let's build up our confidence.
That's a job for the leaders.

Another thing you have to do is get into a habit of knowing your raid times.
They are now the same every week.
The first month or two will be difficult - you'll have to consciously remind yourself.
But after a while, it becomes habit.

For me, I think... "Oh OK its 5:30pm on Sunday.
Time to get on for the Aussie raid in half an hour."
This is something you should aim for yourselves. It will solidify your attendance.
And of course, be constantly checking for the megaraid.
*Hint hint* (Glenn/Cheyney... time to decide on this week's... we need sign-ups)

And now another thing... let's follow the KF formula.
Let's invite a whole bunch of friends from outside WG for a few weeks.
Invite all these people...
Network guys. Get to know people from other clans.
It's good for clan relations, and support.
Bring them along. There are heaps of PVP addicts.

We'll go out with these guys for a while until WG gets pro.
That's what lied behind the success of KF.
We got into a habit of win after win.
And people saw "KF" in the IRC or the forums, and got hyped.
Attendance to raids is psychological encouragement as much as it is your ability to attend.

It's not difficult to turn this clan around.
We can be one of the best PVP clans out there.
It's part of our history.

Don't forget, this clan was part of some of the greatest wars EVER.
In fact it was part of the two biggest clan wars of all time.

X vs DS / LL (Our side) vs RD

Not to mention we almost single-handedly brought P2P-Multi to life while DI was stuck in the mage bank.
At one stage, we were the strongest p2p clan in Runescape, no kidding. Stronger than DI in multi at the height of KF in 2006.

This clan has AMAZING potential.
We have done great things before and there is nothing stopping us from repeating that.
The faces have changed, but take it from a veteran... the spirit is alive and well.
Think back on our noble warring history, and realise this clan was BORN for raiding.

We are Wilderness Guardians - It is our domain to govern, as dictated by our very name. Let us reclaim that right.

Man, KF rocked so hard. Even now almost 3 years later, whenever I see those two letters I get excited.

I wish everything could go back to the way it was in 2006. The real wilderness. KF raids. WG being a dominant force in the clan world. Clans were just fun back then...now it's all about PKRIs and crap like that...*sigh*...

Anyways..I hope we can get back to being a dominant pvp force some day..especially in p2p hash.png

Sounds good to me, if pvp events have a positive association then people are much more likely, and willing, to attend them. It seems like common sense, but until now our approach seems to have been centered on forcing those who do not like pvp events to attend them. If we concentrate on improving the success of the events, aswell as how the clan perceives their purpose, it will increase the attendance rates and morale of everyone.

Inviting friends and raiding with allies is an effective way to make raids more successful, and make sure we see more action (although usually though some kind of leak). That was one reason I was for us getting involved in the TT vs VR conflict (except when it came to crashing their wars), it was a chance to gain a strong ally and participate in major clan battles, aswell as motivate people to participate in pvp by fighting a dishonorable clan like VR.

I have a caveat though, be careful about creating a culture where the members judge the clan by its performance in the wilderness. Loyalty to WG and the community should come first, or members will start leaving (like they are doing now) when our progress in pvp stalls.

This topic within itself is a great morale booster.
I will try my hardest to make the raids that I can, and of course, the megaraid.

You should explain what KF is to those who don't know. I only vaguely know.

KF stood for Kenshln's Friends. Kenshln was WG's warlord for quite a long period of time. He also had many friends in other clans, as he got around a lot, especially Corr since he was in it at one time.

So Ken would randomly decide to have a raid(KF was p2p-based) and call all of his friends to come. At first, KF was very diverse. It had WG members, Corr members, people from our allied clans, random friends, etc...and we just went out into p2p wildy and owned anyone that was out there. We usually pulled like 100+ people, despite how they were spur of the moment. Because people loved them. They were so fun and we always won.

KF was soon 95% WG members, due to Ken being our warlord, but friends were still allowed and encouraged to come. We had a longstanding rivalry with RoT, but we destroyed them on a daily basis. We even battled clans like DI and DF and won. We were unstoppable in p2p.

It was basically all out camaraderie and having fun. And we just happened to be total pwnage. It instilled a great atmosphere in WG.

But then D-Day kinda ruined everything...although KF raids had already slowed down. They were mostly in summer 2006.

personally i joined as a skiller so my first and only thought is to hell with pvp. i have not changed in the last few months, nor will i ever change. i joined wg for skilling and its community, if that is not enough to be consider'd a valuable asset to the wilderness Guardians then oh well

every clan needs people who's sole job is to bolster and anchor the community, this is where i feel im best suited. i see things from the pro-pvp'ers side of the line and i understand that pvp is fun for some people, i however do not always recieve the same feeling from pro-pvp'ers seeing things from a skillers point of view. these are just some of my thoughts.

with love and respect ,

D-Day short version: Tmal and Twiz were doing an excellent job of leading WG in Lordy's absence. Lordy got jealous and on December 1st, 2006, he came back and closed the clan and reopened it an hour later. But 100+ people had already left.

Class is about to start, hence the short version..lulz hash.png
