Ya well this happens a few times.

I leave my comp on overnight, and then it randomly has shutoff during the night, well i think its more on standbye.

I think it has something to do with there being updates to install on my comp that shows up on my windows bar on top of the standbye button.

ya so halp, coz its annoying i lose anything i havnt saved.

1) you can turn off automatic updates
2)save your shit
3)unless your installing shit that takes 8 hours, you really shouldn't leave your computer on for extended periods of times, computers that were ment to run 24/7 are specially made and cost a shitload more, and are in controlled environments.
4)1&2&3&4

disable automatic updates.
check ur screensaver settings, make sure they don't happen.
check ur internet settings too, sometimes the net shuts itself off(sometimes along with the computer if its on) in the middle of the night.

Not quite true, they solved a lot of those problems along time ago, as long as you don't worry about your power bill, and aren't running the computer in a Sauna, there shouldn't be any problems leaving it running.

As for your random "shutdowns" try checking your power management settings for anything involving shutting down, hibernating, stand by or sleeping after X time. If not, then it might be caused by automatic updates forcing your computer to reboot, if thats the case, you can try enabling "Check for updates but let me choose..." in Windows Update Settings
