MYTH: Once a person intros to WG, they are at this stage prepared to join.
TRUTH: At the intro phase, the person is testing WG, looking for faults and shortcomings.

MYTH: We shouldn't worry about non-applying intros. They were probably inactive.
TRUTH: Most intros are not inactive. They simply change their mind, but yes, a few are inactive.

MYTH: It's not a big deal if some intros don't apply... if we send out recruitment material we will compensate.
TRUTH: It matters EVEN MORE that we keep our intros if we are recruiting heavily. All our recruitment work goes to waste if our prospects disappear.

I want to start by congratulating WG on improving our intro rate. We're getting a really positive flow of intros and therefore, apps are picking up.

You will obviously have noticed that most of these applicants don't follow through with their applications. Some are inactive, but more than half simply change their mind. We haven't sold our product to them yet. They need to in fact graduate before we get to the stage where they are fully fledged members.

All of that hard recruitment work goes to waste if the intros don't follow through so this month of April will see us improving the intro to app ratio.

The important changes, starting immediately (if WG consents):

1. More #wg_lobby. We are going to make wg_lobby the main conversation room and we'll switch to #wg for the private matters, such as inner clan discussion. Debates on changes and so forth, as well as events. But for the large part - wg_lobby for the Runescape related stuff, and the non-RS stuff... links to topics guests can't see - #wg. Sex talk, hmm lets not go there right now.

2. Auto-adding system. Let's develop a culture whereby we go to the intro forum and simply add the intros as they post... this gives them more reason to join. You get friendly with them and you are investing yourself in them. Really helps.

3. Expansion of the public forums - We're going to make our public forums busier with more to write about. We're going to include a clan discussion forum and such, but we're also going to delete some of our private forums as a result - too many forums are annoying to browse. I am thinking of deleting the mentor forum (and making it a sticky), making the gaming forum and tech support forum sub-forums of real life, and deleting the study room... all to make way for about three or four public forums. Any objections? I am open-minded. Give me the criticism but be courteous or I will end you violently.

4. The enforcement of public events - they come every now and again, but public events are very very useful. They improve attendance AS WELL AS lock in future members AND prove we are active. Basically, any event that doesn't NEED to be private should be public... Level up parties should be public, ToG and Distractions and Diversions should be public... and a few others. Of course, we should also have private events because we can't give them all the fun if they are not committed members.

The only thing is could we make the Study Room a subforum somewhere? It doesn't get used often but I like to know it's there. blush.gif Either way though, this is great.

yea, i think possible we should get rid of the greeting robbiebot does in lobby then when someone does invite or enters, it causes unwanted spam, especially if people want to chat in there.

The only problem I have with the lobby is a lot of the spam, as Jadi said. When someone joins, you have RobbieBot saying that they joined, RuneScript saying all of the clans that the person is in, and then maybe other spam that just gets in the way of conversation and breaks it up in some ways.

I will try to increase my conversations in the lobby however.

You guys have to realize, when a person is introing and they join #wg_lobby, its their only way to really gain new friends and get to know about WG. If I was introing, and I went into the lobby and it was dead silent, I wouldnt really want to start a conversation in a new place.

Brilliant Idea's Gene, if you need someone to set up weekly PUBLIC events Let me know im up for anything and always can find time for Gmt/Est OR AUS timezones to compensate for others.

1 BIG IDEA I HAVE!

GENE READ THIS@@@@@@@@@@@@

Well in Rsd we had 2 people who were App Managers these people are there to GET INTROS TO JOIN, they auto ADD EVERY INtro and it's there job to get to know them, they also help them out with the app process answer questions etc. They then have a few powers like being able to accept app's etc.

It works really well as when Rsd used it, it upped there intro-join % by almost 3x the pervious rate. Which is what we need.

Yeah for being told to add people. I used to always do this til I got told to stop it. I think intros stay around more if you get them somehow involved.

I've been adding almost all of our members from the time I joined to now, and I will continue doing that. It really helps the newer members with all kinds of things if you just add them.

Public events would be a great idea. My first real contact with WG was during one of your public events and I really enjoyed it.

As you said, intros are "testing the waters." If they don't apply, they could simply be waiting, like I was. I think I intro'd six weeks before I applied. (Although that's a slightly different story)

=)
