This is very simple thing and not invasion to your privacy at all. If your not liking to share your first name then use a preferred nickname. Like if your name is Harry, maybe just take Blade or HG. But post something. I personally try to get to know everyone by their first name. Some of the people I know their first name but my nickname for them is preferred to use. It is same in rl. My friend Peace is really Ruthie. I have a friend Flora that likes to be called Mae.
