Leaking my idea from level three, I want to see the public's opinion. Keep in mind WG's current state regarding activity. I cannot guarantee this will happen but it might if the clan wants it.

WG's ranks will be based on activity. Nothing more. We can use Robbie's rolling event count, meaning you CAN get demoted if your number gets too low. The ranks will be competitive, with several stages the people can compete for.

The ranks will be based on our already made war badges...

But not on wars obviously, rolling event count instead.
And not the same numbers - that is still to be decided.

Elite and higher guard will be extinct. The security forums aren't used, and the current rank holders are seemingly less active as they should be. If it's ever necessary, we could create a private forum and handout the password to select people. Level one will stay - but a different name. Trial guardians will hold the trial rank, with the same permission they have now.

Each rank will have their own forum rank. I'm thinking the same color, but possibly a symbol in front of their names (like the ones in the war badges). The ranks will give activity a benefit.

Discuss, suggest, rant

Hmm. Well how about since you need so many wars for the higher badges, include raids in it? Only the "planned" raids, not spur of the moment things we do occasionally. neko2.gif

Why kick when we can make them active?

Kicking is more effective because people won't just become active because you offer them rank.

Well, we would use the data we currently have, however most people would feel a "demotion," but then again, they should ask themselves how active they really are.

In all honesty, how much does that badge mean to you? When we first had the idea for badges, we thought "wow, this could work!" But no one seems to notice or care, plus the "titles" have no benefit. Is someone going to 1000 wars in a month and then going inactive for a year really considered a "hero"?

the badges are milestones.

that's what they are for and anyways, you can't espect us 24/7 commitment. that's harsh. eventually we'll have to retire, become emeretus or ex-members

the badges are just past recognitions =S

I can see quite a few problems with this, so where shall I start?

1) The Event bar ISNT used correctly, despite you're claims otherwise, look at my war attendace? Its pretty obvious I havent only attended 2 wars/PKRI's since that system was introduced, and its frustrating, frankly.

2) Do you really think that Tertiaries and council will keep updating the memberlist every time that someone gains or looses a rank? if not, what is the point of it other than to 'show off' you're high attendance? and if that is the case, doesnt the event bar do that allready?

3) How will this improve attendance? People allready have a way to see if someone is active or not (the rolling attendance, and overall attendance) so very little change there.

4) Doesn't this go against Gene's previous statements that WG isn't just about event attendance, an extra OP at each event etc? It seems to me that you are aiming to make people important because of event attendance, not what they have/are doing for WG in other ways.

This new system doesn't seem like much incentive to me. It seems silly that someone would chase ranks based on a system that no one currently seems to care about.

Currently the ranks seem to be a collection of people to look up to in the clan for their ideas and contributions, people who stand above the rest. Under the new system, that would all shift to looking up to the person who can get on their computer most often.

I suppose this may work for some people, but I'd rather go to events for fun than for status.

1. The war badges only count 1 week+ prep wars, and if there's an error then it's whoever updated it. Small matched ops war don't count.

2. There wouldn't be all those ranks on the ml. It would just be trial guardian, guardian, and the staff ranks. As for the forums, I'm hoping they can update themselves using the rolling event count. The event bar is flawed. Anyone who can maintain the slightest bit of activity is way passed the requirements. I can't remember what the reqs are but they are WAY too low.

3. Competition mainly. If you were 1 event away from another rank, wouldn't you try to attend the event? As for the list, I'm trying to steer away from the "total" event count, because like I said, you can be extremely active at one point and extremely inactive at another. I believe the changing ranks would be stability and keep someone in the rank they deserve. Don't kid yourself, there are many elite guardians who are inactive. Is it doing that rank any justice?

4. Gene wants WG to be a casual gaming clan. But the problem is, it seems like no one ever wants to "game" (fuck, i just lost the game). If we do happen to increase activity and the event attendance, that would make the event more fun right?

I don't really like it. I mean you are seen as a higher rank for a higher event attendance so what benefits do you get from that higher rank other than just looks? Isn't that just the same as the current war badges?

I honestly like the ability to be able to post something that only higher guardians can see as they are respected enough to get that extra promotion. Even though the security level forums are not used that much (well except for levels 3 and 4), there is the feeling of achieving something special when you are promoted. I know I was well excited when I got higher guardian, and I tried to get to this level.

Activity may show the quality of the guardian you are, but what about the people who have been here for x-amount of years, that have shown their dedication to the clan by their years of service, but don't have as much time as they used to so some newer member comes in and has more benefits than them?

I guess a few things to think through.

Bad idea, it's simply not going to work unless you start the slate CLEAN.

just take a look at my attendance, i have pics for easily 20-30 Events and yet i don't get credit for them Lol.

I don't worry cos that doesn't bother me.

I'm in a military based orginization, with military ranks, and I'm begging you- please have them in some type of order, instead of two corporals, then sargent, then a sudden jump, hang onto the rank for two ranks, then another jump.... it's making me go nuts.

I'm slightly OCD at times, I think.

That's my major rant about this idea.

From my old clan: A gem-based rank based on number of posts. One sapphire to 5 for the lowest posts, then emeralds, etc etc until 75,000 posts was 5 onyx gems. It helped with forum activity, as people wanted the shiney gems.

Considering that the person who made them is a good friend of mine that no longer plays, I could probably get permission for it without copying any other clan, as he was the one who made it, and the original clan that used them folded.

How would this work when The current event count isn't even accurate?

as for randy's answer about the war badges only count 1 week + preps.

Ive attended more than 2 and ive also attended more events than it says. I just don't think anyone updates it anymore.

Id just like to highlight war attendance isnt for PKRI or weekly pks we have - Raids. The war bar is for actual wars so either arranged mini wars or full out fights not either of the other 2 things and its the raid leaders who do not update it. I make sure every time i host an event and do an recap event attendance is updated.

If it is only for 1 week+ prep wars, then something is wrong. I highly doubt that I have missed enough 1 week+ prep wars to make the gap between the person with the most attendances and myself that large.

I don't know where this is in council's ideas, but I disagree with it. Look at the attendance to ranks we have already. Most of the higher and elite have a decent amount of events attended. The ranks show a difference in clan respect and dedication. I do believe there have been some demotions from these ranks also.

So if I go to 20 events a day and tell people to go get **** doesn't mean I'm a great guardian. It just means I no life and curse at people. The ranks are to be given to us for our outstanding attitudes and stuff more like that.

You need to use extreme caution when putting something like this into effect. I personally don't think I misuse the lvl 1 3/4 forum, but it does get used some. It is not there to post everyday but more to discuss things more sensitive than all the membership needs to be brought into things. I probably post there more than most.

Just demote the inactive and promote wisely. If someone gets demoted and really cares, they will strive to be better and earn it back.
