I was giving my PC a bit of a cleanout getting rid of stuff I no longer used and I came across Microsoft Silverlight, at an astonishing 4 GB?!?!?!? Its the microsoft version of Adobe Flash so can anyone explain to me how it needs to be/is so big?

Is it actually normal for it to be that large?

Well my version of Silverlight is only 1.9 MB. I am running Windows XP so that could make a difference, but I wouldn't think 3 gigs worth of a difference. I would personally say try un-installing it and then re-installing it.

I have the full Adobe Suite through work, I didnt ask about what could replace silverlight.

Just whether it is normal to be that big.

On Windows 7, my copy of Silverlight is 23.8 MB, if yours is reported as that large either there is something wrong with the way that Control Panel is pulling the information, or something is wrong with the app. I would recommend uninstalling/reinstalling silverlight and seeing if that fixes the problem
