I installed a Windows update the other day there. Ever since then, my programs have been freezing, and my computer has been running excessively slow. I've fixed registry issues, I've done System Restore, and I've done a virus scan. My last resort was to restore Vista to factory settings.

When I restart my PC and push F8, press "Repair My Computer", the Windows Recovery Environment should run, but instead, I get a menu with the options "Launch Startup Repair", and "Start Windows Normally". When I go to Launch Startup Repair, my screen goes black, and it loads the exact same menu.

So basically, I'm screwed. I'm 100% sure the update caused it. From what I can tell, this is unrepairable.

If it is unrepairable, can I make Microsoft supply me with a fresh copy of Vista? My Vista is 100% legit.

Windows Update got me back at Christmas time. I had to start all over again. It still gives me some issues just because I didn't get it all back to normal.

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

They have either lost confidence that you can help them

Either case is a failure of leadership.”

I"m not sure how installing a windows certified update can be bad for your computer... I've yet to have a problem. There must be some underlying cause for the crashes. It wouldn't be to hard for a virus to lay dormant until the computer is updated.
