What I'm looking for is a good laptop that i can use for, 4 years. My main aim on this laptop is to learn and use C++ and other programming languages, and will obviously be testing whatever i produce. budget, is undetermined, but less than £800. If possible, i accpet i may need to go higher, but only if nessicary -------------------- October 27 2006 | ||

OS: Windows XP, or wait for Windows 7 cause Vista sucks. CPU: Once again stick with Dell, for C++ look for a 3Ghz+ or duo/quad core with 1.6Ghz+ each RAM: You want 2GBs+ - the more the better Hard Drive: Get something big, but not costlly. 150GBs+ I reccomend - the more the better. Graphics card: Get something equivalent to the nVidia GeForce 7 range or higher. Battery life you want ~6-8 hours ish Accessories: Big screen. Dunno laptop dimensions CD-RW, or if you can afford it, DVD-RW Drive. Very useful. Get at least 4 USB ports Card reader/wireless card slot/webcam built in are always useful, depends on budget. Are you doing just command line/console applications? or do you think you'll end up GUI's or animations? At the moment I just beggining, i plan to spend the majority of the spare time learning C++ at home and then spend a year messing with ideas and such. I want to go to university to study Game design, but it will be a practical course, being able to design and impliment game ideas using programming skills. -------------------- October 27 2006 | ||
