I am not as active as I would like to be in WG or in any other aspect of my real life either. At the moment and for the immediate future, my work takes up a hell of alot of my life. I work at a high risk obstetrical clinic doing specialized ultrasounds. My specific area of interest is fetal hearts and I am pretty dam good at what I do. There are only a handful of ppl in my area that do what I do. My schedule looks like this: I get up at 5 am at the latest Monday thru Friday. I leave for work at 6:30 am and drive 45 miles to my office. My last patient is scheduled at 4:00pm so realistically, I should get out of the office by 4:30, but the reality is more like 5:30. I get home around 6:30 or 7:00 most days depending on the traffic. I try not to work on weekends, but sometimes during the week we discover a patient that needs surgical intervention for the fetus to survive, (usually blood transfusions). So we wind up working at the hospital on the weekend or whenever we can get on the surgery schedule. Most of the time, this only takes a few hours but like last Saturday, we should of been finished by 1 or 2 pm at the latest but instead spent most of the afternoon waiting for a surgical suite because of some emergency surgeries that had to be worked in. I don't mind so much because I make lots of money doing nothing, and if I remember to bring my laptop, I can log online while I wait, but its somewhat unpredictable. I love my job but its an emotional roller coaster. At the end of a long day, I may feel exhilarated because I've made an awesome diagnosis that may save the life of a mother or child, or very depressed on the days that I've had to deal with death and heartache. Also unpredictable.....(I prefer the first). Runescape has always been my "safe" place where I come to chill out and empty out my thoughts. Last December when my good friend Mark first suggested to me that I join this clan, I hesitated because I was afraid that I would not be able to participate as much as required, but he convinced me to give it a try and I'm glad that I did. I love wee gee and all the ppl that I have met. According to the attendance records, I have been to 33 events, and 8 wars which averages to over an event a week, so I'm not a total slacker at least. I guess my whole point to this is that I hate it when I don't make an event, or when I am asked to attend an event and I have just gotten home after a long and sometimes bad day. I really really want to attend as many things that I can, but sometimes I just can't. And I'm sorry Glenn when I bite your head off every time you chastise me for not coming, I know you are just doing your job. ( but you are still NH). What I really hate is the thought that my clan mates might think that I'm just lazy or don't care about the clan. Thats not true at all. Lately, it feels like I am always saying no. I realize that most of you have the summer off and can make more events now than ever, and with me it is the opposite. I have no clue why this is a busy time for us right, now...but historically it is. I am very proud of my clan and never hesitate to tell ppl about WG. My heart swelled with pride at all the posts that rushed to our defense and had wonderful things to say about us on RSC Saturday night, and reading HL's first post, was more sure than ever that this was the only clan I would ever want to belong to. I know this has been long and rambling.....but I feel better having written it. I guess I will stay a member of this clan as long as you will let me. When you decide that I am no longer living up to my obligation to the clan, I'm sure you will hand me my pink slip. I haven't noticed you not being active. If your honest with the clan what more could we want. With my job I go through times of the same type thing and I volunteer a good bit in my community as well. As long as you feel like you are holding your own, it should be fine. My friend is also a young doctor and he has also lack of free time; we play football just occasionally now ,but we are still very good friends.Enjoy every free second you have, dont take care much about WG, you sit on chair whole time you are at work, try to have also some contact with nature, relax there (if its possible, no idea where do you live). --------------------  |
