I will be departing from the WG community for quite a while, meaning no event attendance, no IRC and no more forum posts from me for quite a long time. But that's really what I expect. I'd like to give a mention to our old friend Mugger84. Mug and I are two very similar individuals. We both have certain characteristics that reflect both positively and negatively on WG under different circumstances, and we are aware of that. Of course, Mug is banned, and so I thought I should stop and think a bit before I end up the same way. For instance, the concept of obsession. Obsession is an opinion, based on perspective. The claim is that I have an obsession with WG, which in some cases I agree with but for the most part it gives a negative impression. I don't agree with it. Training from scratch to join WG? The Sabres do it, it's just a way to show dedication. Forum activity? Sure the quality of my posts could be improved but 650 posts from a normal member in such a short frame of time would be smiled upon. The post-its? Praised for commitment from anyone with Guardian rank or higher. The IRC and RS applets? An amazing show of dedication and effort when coming from a member of the clan. But for a clan friend, it's an obsession. One step short of obsessed - passionate. A lot of the time I'm not as mature as I should be or have the level of common sense I'd like, but in the clan world I have the one thing that makes up for it - dedication. As I said in my epically long testimonial, I don't feel like a friend or guest of the clan, but a member of the community. And some people have recognised it, but well... you know me and my reputation here. Which is where Mug's mention comes in. Like my dedication is my characteristic, his is his pride. It worked when he was a WG member, but when he joined DF it backfired upon him. My dedication would work well in WG, but on the outside it's frowned upon. The big factor, however, is how we as the subjects react to it. My dedication is the one thing that makes me who I am, and I can't change that. Mug said the same for his personality and tried to defend it while remaining a part of the community. He got banned. So finally I've realised that if who I am is not appreciated in the community, then I shouldn't be in the community. After all, a member of any clan should always try to do their best to make sure they don't hinder their clanmates' enjoyment and involvement in it as well. Maybe one or two people don't mind, but the majority of WG will agree with me when I say I'm not an asset to WG at the moment. So I've come to an agreement with Darth, who will reset my post count to 2 (One for my intro, one for this topic) and revoke all my posting rights until either I meet the requirements to apply for membership in WG, or the circumstances change and require my activity. As long as my departure from WG will benefit the clan, I have no regrets about it. Sorry for the long post. I have a habit of writing out pages and pages when there's an important topic to share. So to end this, I wish Gene and all of the Wilderness Guardians the very best of luck for a long and enjoyable future, and thank you for the opportunity to experience it for myself. I've learned to ignore the things I dislike in people and not argue about them over the years, but it's a skill some WG members lack. My opinion on you hardly matters since I'm an ex-member however, I don't particularly like or dislike you. I'll just leave a quote from the ex-members lounge here. No idea why and if you feel it's inappropriate feel free to revoke my ex-member rank.

Some people were just fooled by him. Your heart is in the right place. I see you as someone that has real dedication. It can be a bit much, but I don't really mind all your posts. They make me giggle and add to the forum. Don't let a few people with little patience bring you down. I really hope you reconsider the deal and stay active with us. Each of us has our own personality and blend to make the community stronger than if we all thought alike. I'm not strong in combat, but yet I somehow fit in here in my own way. Sometimes you just have to face something that doesn't seem fair. When this happens, take your time to restituate and then climb back on the horse. Everything isn't glitter and glamour and nobody shouldn't back out when the shit is on fire.. Tbh I haven't really been keeping track of the situation leading you to this decision, but what I know is that you've dedicated yourself alot to become a member of the clan. Therefore it's sad to see you've decided what you did. I hope you'll come back to post an intro the day you're ready for it. I know it's a tough road, but with your dedication it shouldn't take so long. This comes from someone who's not meeting the reqs either. You're doing a hell of a job.. That's my say.. Keep it up! I think what did it for you is you just came across a little to strong and a little to vocal, and I'm sure you can understand how that can be a deciding factor for people when it comes to clans. "How can you speak with authority on MY clan when you're not in it," kind of deal. Some might call you a troll, and it's possible they're right, but at least you had stuff to say that was more or less discussion worthy. Sure you may write long posts (I do the same *sigh*) and I made a little joke about it ("Summarized") but don't let it get to you. Your heart is definitely in the right place I just think you didn't communicate your intentions in a way that some might want to accept. Regardless, you said August was your hardcore combat training month. Stick to it, get training and apply when you've met our requirements. Good luck. --------------------   | ||

You're definitely a curious individual imo but that goes for most everybody here already. From what I've seen you've simply used your interest in WG to practice and test your skills in many different areas, both ingame, with programming/coding, etc. I remember Robbie mentioning he liked what you were coming up with and could probably give you a few useful pointers, that right there is a golden opportunity to pick up a few things. You've landed at the short end of the stick with this whole thing so far but I'm impressed on how you're handling it; imo you've shown more restraint and maturity with this post than most WG members ever show in their entire clan careers. I like you, and I think you should do what you want with this. If you want to be in WG despite our being much less than perfect, persevere. The people who matter will respect you for it, whether you decide to stay or pursue options elsewhere. I don't play RS at all anymore, but if you ever come to WoW look me up.
