Right its only a small rant, but i see alot of this 'express your opinions' etc etc. So thats what im going to do.

Ranks, please stop telling people that all trips are mandatory. Lieing to me to get me to go to a green dragon killing event, i dont appreciate, sure i could have gone, but when i have so little time on scape, i dont wish to attend events i dont have to just to please you.

And also, dont turn to using the guilt method when the lieing fails, theres nothing i hate more than somebody saying, 'by not going your really disrespecting ... for making this event'. Sure i'd be disrespecting that person if i had signed up as a yes and then not gone. But no i never, i didnt sign up because i knew what my mood would be at half 10 at night with a half 5 in the morning wake up, Not good.

This is more a rant to stop it happening in the future, i'm not naming names etc, but you know who you are

Also im not doing this out of spite, i like you, its purely because i need to get it off my chest.

/rant over

I'm still overly confused what events are mandatory, what aren't etc etc. I like the skill one's, but I got a feeling obly the combat one's are lol.

I see your point, and agree.

Amen to that. 'Mandatory' really needs to be used carefully. As far as i know the only mandatory things are wars (and possibly miniwars), (and of course anniversary events, if they're still happening).

Hope this is taken note of.

I quote His Lordship word for word:

QUOTE

All events are, of course, optional attendance.

And the rules:

QUOTE

You May Refuse To Attend An Event

    * All events are optional, with one minor exception. You must attend wars/raids/PKRIs unless you are occupied in real life. If you are occupied in real life, you have to at least post on the sign-up sheet saying so. (I.e. - If you are online in RuneScape, you are required to come to whatever war/pkri/raid is on at the time.)
    * You may also leave an event at any time. However, you have to have been part of the event for a reasonable amount of time to be counted in attendance.

Oh.. Just to clear up things..

All events hosted in the community are optional. You can't be forced to go but sometimes we strongly advice you to come. Events like the dragon trip are great because they give you money for warring gear.

I'm gonna slap George with a large trout when I see him in the lobby. You did nothing wrong by skipping it. Sometimes George just FLOATS. He can't help it

Sorry for this neko2.gif

This exactly. If anyone ever tells you that their event is mandatory and it isn't a war/pk trip/pkri, please politely direct them to the rules.

I never said the word "mandatory".
As I often do I used the fact that it would be a fun activity to do with your clanmates, etc.
I never said it was mandatory.
If I had thought it was mandatory and you didn't come, I would have warned you for "skipping".

^^^ shows that I didn't think it was mand.. ^^
So don't put words in mah mouth.

If its been posted up on the forums and is clearly official, then i presume so yes.

If its a raid which has only been decided that day (i.e. more informal), then no.

Its down to the leaders to know what's mandatory and what isn't, and relay that to the people.

What is this reasoning based on? A raid is a raid.

"You must attend wars/raids/PKRIs unless you are occupied in real life."

doesnt say anything about "if" its mandatory.

a non mandatory raid would be a small team going out, and not spamming wg. And if it wasn't a mandatory raid, then why did they spam IRC, and pm everyone to come.

They cant just say its mandatory to get people to come, then change it afterwards.

I'm with Billy on this one.

You used the words,

"If you are online at the time, you will come or heads will roll"

Granted the words mandatory are not in the above however yet again it's a small veilled threat to make people attend.

Cause George is really gonna cut off your head and roll it hash.png

But he didn't actually use the word "mandatory" and say the event was something it isn't. That would be worse than a hollow threat to decapacitate our members. The Guardians should know our clan rules, and if George tries to make them come to an event they can refuse to attend, then hash.png

Oh ohmy.gif
If I did I am really sorry, not sure what I was thinking.
In that case you were in the right, dw about it.

Anyway what I really wanted to say is to express my concern....

We now have FIVE raid leaders and ONE Warlord, thats SIX people capable of hosting pvp events... and here lies the problem.
With this big number more and more raids are going to be hosted (duh) as we have extensive coverage of all the timezones now... with 2 from each major zone... however this means that people may just be logging on each day and asked to raid....
Ie: they won't have any time to play RS on their own/ do what THEY want to do....

This is BAD.
I do not want this.
For this reason, I suggest what Tnuac said earlier on....
That leaders should decide if they want their raids to be mandatory. It is their call and their call alone.

Thoughts?
