Hopefully by the end of this month, I will be situated in my new location(Northwest of Spokane, Washington). I have OK DSL there, and this should make server updates quicker and easier(At my old location, I only have satellite Internet. Upload speed is horrible, and lag is over 2 seconds often times).

Now, once I get situated, and have a day or two where I'm able to work on things, I'm going to make some changes and fixes around here.
Fixes:
1. Fix the ACP. As some of you know, theres a small problem with the ACP. The page-selector isn't working right now, due to a missing file.
Complete! It turned out to be something more complex, but its fixed now.
2. Change the color-scheme for post-search hightlighting. See what I mean?
3. Do something about the Teamspeak tab in the above tab-box. Probably simply disable it till I can get around to a proper fix.
3. Try to get some DNS issues fixed. Some people can't access http://www.wildernessguardians.com, though most can. It may simply be a matter of waiting a few days, it may be a config issue. A side effect of this will mean that you can put "wildernessguardians.com" as the address in Mumble instead of 92.48.69.8(our server IP)

4. Fix up the code for my announcement-box border(the one used also for quotes currently). There's an issue with a function it needs not being available - I may have to do some minor server updates and config changes to get it working. I'll probably deal with this mid-week(not this week), when events aren't happening, as config changes = downtime for the forum/robbiebot/mumble.

Improvements & Changes:
1. Remove those dang quote-borders. I recall back when I implemented them that there was some dissension over them, and I can tell you that I've gotten annoyed by them.
I figure I'll replace them with some nice, simple & clean ones. If you have any suggestions, post them.

2. Improve the tab-bar design and content a bit. No need for the X on the right-hand-side, and a lot of the tabs are under-utilized. Also, I can think of some minor tweaks, like having the search buttons open in a new window/tab instead of the current one.

3. Make a new BBcode for the shiny announcement-box border, so that its easy to use. And, when I'm doing that, I might as well add a [center] BBcode as well.

4. Add links to all the various control-panel pages I've made
into the ACP. I may even be able to build my pages into the ACP itself.

5. Incorporate Mumble into the forum DB. I should be able to make it such that:
a. Members of this forum can join with their forum passwords
b. Non-members can join with a server password
c. depending on rank, people can join channels, join otherwise locked channels without a key, kick, ban, etc.

New features: (Note, these may take a while... but its stuff I want to work on).
1. On the main forum page, have it show the [u]subforum[/b] of the most-recent post as well as its name.

2. Change the whole topic-display code - Instead of having the combat level displayed, and clicking to display stats/achievements, I have been planning to remove that functionality, instead having simply several unobtrusive buttons which loads a popup(inside the window, not a new window) with the combat level and stats. While this may be a little less functional, it should improve loading time and "responsiveness" of the forum quite a bit. I'm open to discussion on this though.
I am also going to be looking into other things to add - When I do some changes on Robbiebot, I should be able to easily have your IRC and or Mumble status displayed - e.g. have an icon which shows if the user is online or not.
I may also move the PM/email/*insert messenger name here* buttons moved from the bottom of each post into the profile side-box for each post, thereby increasing vertical readability.

3. Rebuild the Teamspeak tab here on the forum, and the Teamspeak code on Robbiebot. Currently, neither works, and when we decide which VOIP program we are using(TS3/Mumble), I'm going to reimplement the functionality, and improve it a lot!

4. Multi-quote. I realized that its quite a useful function, and won't be -too- hard to implement, but its going to take a bit of work on the "reply" page.

5. Modify the User ControlPanel - I'm going to see about modifying that, making it possible to add new input spots and functions.

6. Improve the methods for editing the news box and other data. This is going to be an ACP thing.

Note that not all of these will get done, at least not at first. Also, they will probably not be done in the order posted here.
--------------------
Comments, questions, etc? Post them! Give me some ideas and improvements you can think of, and I'll see...

-Robbie

I do like the quote borders, but I think they could definitely use a face lift. Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of yourself. Don't get burnt out Robbie!

You covered a lot of areas. Good luck. Thanks for giving us some rooms on Mumble, that is very helpful.

All good stuff, however one thing that was mentioned to me yesterday was [youtube][/youtube] tags, for embedding youtube videos. I'd like to see that added, and I think others would too.

Now lets see -Three areas I want to discuss right now:
1. Youtube tag. This would normally be as easy as the 'center' tag, and simply embed the video in the page like you might expect. But, I'm bothered by such things, and so if I implement this, it will be a little differently. I would probably have a [youtube=*videoid*]*name*[/youtube] tag produce a small video icon and micro arrow(like you see on a "shortcut to video" link on your desktop), and then linked *name*. Clicking on this would bring up a pop-in window with the video embedded in it, along with download links and such.
This would not increase page-load time and page space being wasted, while providing quick and easy access to videos as you want.

2. Multi-quote. I've been doing some thinking, and I think what I'll have is next to the report/edit/delete/quote buttons is a "+ multiquote" button that after clicking becomes a "- multiquote". When you reply, any multiquotes you have enabled appear in the Reply box as text-quotes(with quote tags around them).
If you don't reply, and instead go onto the next page, a list of all your multi-quoted posts is added to the URL, so that you can go read a, say, 50 page topic, quote one post every page, get to the end, reply, and everything you want to quote appears. If you leave the topic, all your multi-quoted posts get lost(Though only for the current tab - No worries about multi-tabbed browsing). This also means that if you accidentally leave the page, and realize "oh, forgot to reply", simply hit the back button till your on the page. All your multi-quoted posts will be there.

3. You ever notice when replying that if you add a "color" tag, it always appears at the end of the post, and not where your cursor is? I'm going to see about making tags appear where the cursor is. Also I'll see about some keyboard shortcuts - say ctrl+alt+b for bold, ctrl+alt+l for link, etc.

I like everything mentioned in the post above. Forum improvements that allow for posts to be improved really are what interests me. Possibly also coming up with something to align to the left and to align to the right?

Might as well... it will be the exact same code as [center], just with a few things changed. Copy+paste ftw.

Is changing the max rolling event count from 15 down to 7 a difficult thing?

I just think 15 is way to high for the activity that we are trying to achieve from our members. I think going below 7 would not be good for summer vacations. If a member was inactive they could easy get back enough events in a week after they returned if it was needed to get back to a roll count of 1. That should not be to hard.

If this is not to difficult I would love to see this change to the forum.

Thanks

I'm going to see when I do some design changes.
The whole idea is to make it such that someone can literally be busy for three months(12 weeks, one quarter), if needed, but then they have to make up the activity(which makes sense - if they aren't kicked and have a low number, they will feel they need to work hard to get the number back to a reasonable level....

My other option is to set things up with a lower number, but a "vacation" option, so that someone applies and is officially marked as being on vacation.

I'll see what can be done though...
