Alright so I wrote this massive one hour theatre piece.
There are like 20 different themes in there.
I narrowed it down to the following 8.

Each track is like 1 minute and just gives you the theme.
Just tell me which is your favourite.
Try to ignore the speech.
It won't make sense unless you know the whole story.

Hymn To the Spirits of the Forest

Waltz of the Dragons

The Most Beautiful Woman in the World

Across The Meadow

Through Thunder and Blizzard

Search for the Flower Maiden

The Mother Dragon

The Mountain Ascent

_______________________

Actually, just rank them in order of favourite to least favourite.
Like a toplist.
And perhaps comment on some of them.

Remember these took me about 4 months to write.
And 5 minutes for you to listen to.

So the more detail I get back the better it makes me feel.

I like "Through Thunder and Blizzard", at least the fast part of it.

"Search for the Flower Maiden"... sounds entirely classical. It sounds famialiar; was it based on one of the music pieces on the website?

"Hymn To the Spirits of the Forest" overall I like... It sounds very primitive or ancient.

"The Mountain Ascent" - link doesn't work.

The last one doesnt work sad.gif

They are some very good pieces indeed. Have you considered adding some more percussion? In my personal opinion I think a lot of them would be a notch (or quite a bit) better if they had a tad more percussion backing the rest of the instruments. Especially Through Thunder and Blizzard, which I think is probably my favourite. Something like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TRaj2-9G5U&fmt=18

if you see what I mean for the higher & lower sections (God it's been a year since I did music, I forgot all the technical terms).

But they are still all epic. From the ones I've head I'd rank them:

1 Through Thunder and Blizzard - nice range of pitch and fairly fast paced
2 The Most Beautiful Woman... - Very melodic bits like at 0:23. Especially like the piano on this one. Reminds me a bit of Joe Hisaishi's works
3 The Mother Dragon - Very eerie and haunting-sounding
4 Across the Meadow - Simple but upbeat and cheery sounding
5 Hymm to the Spirits... - The woodwind solo nice, but it seems a bit plain. Also what happened to the percussion? The snare lasted like 5 seconds in the intro and that was it blink.gif
6 Waltz of the Dragons - Not a big fan of waltz but it's not too bad. The piano didn't seem to fit too well at first but it was still 6/10 overall. I also was like WTF at the commentary tongue.gif
7 Search for the Flower Maiden - Short but good for what it is. The strings sound slightly out of tune though, but that might just be me.

For me it is hard to rank them cause I loved them all.

1. Search for the Flower Maiden ~ made me smile, Just very enjoyable

2. Through Thunder and Blizzard ~ sounded like something Disney would use as a theme song. Really good use of classical music

3. The Most Beautiful Woman in the World ~ again reminded me of Disney. Very nice violin in this piece

4. Waltz of the Dragons ~ Great percussion

5. Across the Meadow ~ Builds up excitement then soothing. Really nice

6. The Mother Dragon ~ Soft bells makes it interesting

7. Hymn to the Spirits of the Forest ~ Very Soothing and relaxing (full version would be good bubble bath music with candles)

8. The Mountain Ascent ~ sad.gif File not found

The top three I liked equally. Very interesting music and shows your talent off very much. It is like 4 am, so I may re listen and comment better when I'm not half asleep.

It's very good. I'd probably put it between #3 and #4. Your compositions are exceptionally good in terms of imagery, and there are some points in Mountain Ascent which are some of the best I've heard out of the entire set smile.gif

Through Thunder and Blizzard - I'm diggin' the music in this one but the voice doesn't go with the music. You know what I'm saying?

Across The Meadow - The beginning sounded like you'd play it as an introduction and when it went soft like half way through it changed to something you'd play in the credits to a romantic movie.

Search for the Flower Maiden - A little to soft for a theme imo but nonetheless one of the better songs. I like more of the intense kind of orchestra music though.

Waltz of the Dragons - The talking made is kind of corny but the music is not bad.

The Most Beautiful Woman in the World - Again, the talking isn't helping it in my opinion.

The Mountain Ascent - I don't know what was going on in this song. Didn't sound like the instruments were mixing well.

The Mother Dragon - Just didn't like this one.

Hymn To the Spirits of the Forest - Sounds exactly like the title says. Sounds like it would come from the Forest. Kind of plain though.

I would like to add that I know nothing about music whatsoever so don't take what I say to seriously.

My two favourites were:

Waltz of the Dragons

Search for the Flower Maiden.

Those were the two that stood out TO ME, but they were all very good to listen to.
Very impressive Gene, nice one wub.gif

Y'know, after listening to them a binch, I've decided that my absolute favorite is "Hymn to the spirits of the forest". It just has that theme quality, y'know?

Gene, even though this is basically your career, you've still got amazing talent. Very impressive you created all these. I'll do my best at giving feedback. I'm not that good enough or decisive enough to give an order, but here are my comments.

hymn to the spirits of the forest - lovely woodwind solo. Still think it could do with something in the background though, either acoustic or bass-y. Otherwise you can hear the background noise of recording, makes it sound less pro than the other ones.
waltz of the dragons - lol, very amusing image of dragons ballroom dancing. Stands out from the other pieces, and i love the piano solo, gives you the image of something in the foreground
the most beautiful woman - powerful and multilayered, but no melody so good for backing
across the meadow - very lively violin, definitely gives the image of gliding through the meadows, with 00:28 giving you the feel of opening out into an even greater expanse
through thunder and blizzard - middle bit is good, multilayering shows the chaos of the storm, then the quietness as the storm passes maybe? hard to say. bit reptitive in bits, but that's probably good way to show the blizzard
search for the flower maiden - majestic and gently, is there a way you can separate the 2 differnet bits better though? just sounds a bit blurred together, maybe need to be another octave apart or something?
the mother dragon - interesting tune, gives the image of a icycle-filled cave with gently dripping water, hard to imagine a dragon though. Maybe i'm overanalysing. Love how it works though
mountain ascent - good chords, grand but ploddy?, dramatic but not very tuneful

If I had to pick a favourite, it'd be the meadow. Just so smooth and powerful.

Great work mate

Across The Meadow

Waltz of the Dragons

Your tunes keep me interested and excited, but sounds also really relaxing. Great job as always.

Just found this, Lordy, but the only link that is working is "The Mountain Ascent". That's my favorite so far, as the others aren't working hash.png. Still, you have an amazing talent -- this piece gave me chills; very eerie, yet beautiful.
