So yeah I'm installing these Ethernet/Powerline plugs that are supposed to transfer signal to the powerlines.

Anybody know how reliable these are? Heard they were better than WiFi and pretty much the same as a direct Ethernet cord.

I'm going to say that I don't know; No personal experiance.

However, what I can tell you is that its essentially a "wireless" connection; noise on the line(say a fridge starting, motors, odd loads like that) may cause you problems.

It may work fine, though...

I've set one up and used it, it's pretty nifty to get a signal through your sockets. And ya it's pretty stable, I had no trouble using it when i did.

Gud gud, thanks. Wifi has a hard time going through my walls anyway so I don't have much of a choice.

My friend uses it and works fine only problem i could forsee is what robbie said essentially its the same as a wireless connection so noise or such could mess it up like some1 near by with a dirty rotten old TV / Microwave / Oven etc lol but other then that you should be good to go.

Meh it seems the system I bought isn't compatible with my ISP's hardware. I'm going to be on crappy WiFi for a bit until my dad gets around to installing a 30m long Ethernet cable. dry.gif

You can try setting up a router between the ISP's hardware and your comp - Plus, I thought those PLN-setups were basically just radios that used power lines over there medium, with very little on the network side of things.

Also, it looks like I may end up using one of these shortly....

This shit works fine in most places. It basically sends waves of signal through the powerlines, and any adaptator can gather it in powerplugs... it's pretty reliable.

But I tried everything (the router solution included), and from what I gather from forums only precisely the version of hardware I have isn't compatible with it... sucks.
