It is 1/5 of 1, or more commonly written as 0.2 Lots of shops have 20% off sales, even my own that I work at! I think recently, we advertised 20% off cookware, and kitchen appliances. The great rush of customers that came in for 20% off was massive. When you're eating 20% of a pizza, considering it comes in 8 slices, 20% of a whole pizza would be equivalent to 1.6 slices. However most people don't eat 20% of a pizza, as 1.6 slices is hardly enough to fill a grown man! In most cases, you would need to eat at least 2-3 times 20% of a pizza before you start feeling full. In reference to his lordship's saying "you will have nothing left", it refers to nothing, not 20%. If we changed the saying to "you will have 20% left", then it would not have been as effective in conveying the message at the time. Therefore, it is conclusive that 20% is not great in all situations, especially in talking, and/or the cutting up of a pizza! However, a good goal many countries have is to reduce global greenhouse gases by 20% by 2020. Such a fantastic idea, as it will make the environment much cleaner. Some argue though, that 20% is not quite enough in dealing with this problem, as it is too little change, too late. Even though they would like more to be done, 20% is a realistic goal for 2020. 20% is also a good level indicator if you've living by yourself as to when to buy more food. If you only have 20% of your bread left, you should buy some more to prevent running out. As 20% of a loaf of bread would be equivalent to ~4-6 slices, that might only be enough for lunch that day! Hence we can see from the above arguments, that 20% is a good level, and many people enjoy it as an indicator as to when things should change. However some, like myself dispute the number 20%, and think its blasphemy it was even made in the first place!
