I'm posting on behalf of Zemus, who has been blocked from RS.com.
We *think* it is a router block, not some censorship thingy.

Anyway he cannot load RS.com at all.
Proxies are not working because they CAN'T for Java.

I went to cmd and ping'd RS.com and its servers and got the relevant IP's.
When we tried to load RS it told us that you can ONLY load it from RS.com.

Which means there is no evading.
The only way to go is to remove the block.

________________

Mickey and I have tried a few things.
We found Moose's gateway mask, then used it to access the control panel.
We found the default password and username for his router.
That doesn't work.

The last option we suggested is for him to reset the router manually.
But say that fails... is there anything else we can do?

I'm out of ideas.

Short of finding a VPN or a Sock5 proxy that you can trust, I'm not sure.

If you have multiple ethernet ports from one connection around the house then try plugging a new router into one of them and connecting to that.

Again resetting the router isn't a good idea, since it will restore the user/pass to the default and then it will be pretty obvious what you have done.

Trying to convince your parents that you should be allowed to play is probably the best bet, because they will find out whatever method you are using sooner or later and they are going to be pissed.

if he can get his own router, by chance an older one or smaller one at a yard sale/garage sale with the software, that would do the trick

a manual reset of the router will do it indeed, but moose will have to reset the password, all of the settings and soforth without fucking up the router for good and being noticed

I'm not advocating hacking here but I'm assuming Zemus is on a wireless connection. If there are other wireless connections in the area from other houses or whatever then software called BackTrack can be used to crack most secure wireless networks with a bit of work. Then he can just access a different network to get onto RS.com

You can find backtrack here: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/

I've used backtrack before. Amazing piece of software.

Move to Hong Kong biggrin.gif

If you are wealthy you can buy 1-2 Gbps Fibre optic interwebs. It's kind of pointless though since you'll just be restricted by the other end's server speed.

Would that make a difference? Cause even if it is a different OS it's still going through the router. To be honest, Mickey's idea of phoning up the ISP is best. Or Georgio's, but I think moose will get raped for that one neko2.gif

It makes a difference when a person has no idea what the problem is rolleyes.gif

Sgt, I would suggest not giving advice when you don't have any idea what the problem is nor have you read what Gene posted. This line is particularly important:

Ie. nothing to do with any operating system installed on the computer..... at least Keanu, Mickey and Georgio give some legit suggestions neko2.gif

Now don't be a nub and leave it running with your room unlocked or your parents will kill you. Just lock your door and say you are masturbating or something

Its a glitch in the "help" module of Windows that lets you launch an IE window. Handy for "locked down" systems where they don't want you running IE.

I think it was windows 98 that you used to be able to access anything on a computer from the login screen. You just went through the help menu and would get to windows explorer through there.
