Before you read, I already tried re-installing Java.

Ok here's the problem. When I load Runescape, Java seems to load, but at about 1/1000 normal speed. I'm not lagging when I use anything else so it's not my computer. It does this on SK and my browser so it isn't either of those. Also a couple of times now when I've loaded Runescape, if I switch over to another internet tab or program, all the icons on the browser menu disappear until I close the Runescape loading page and hover my mouse over the icons.

So, from all this, I'm about 99.9% sure it's a Java problem, but I honestly don't know crap about Java and this is the strangest thing that's ever happened on my computer.

I'll keep un-installing and re-installing Java just to see if it works I guess until somebody comes up with a better idea.

If I can't get this fixed, then I can only be on my computer at my dad's house, which I'm at for about half my time, so I'll be fairly inactive. If it can't be fixed I can always get a new computer seeing as how this one is around 5 years old.

Any ideas or help appreciated.

Thanks,
Dieyou/Zach

Try deleting all your Cookies / Temporary Internet files and all that stuff too sometimes that can affect it.

Update for today.

Well, I left Swiftkit loading Runescape the entire day and it did eventually load Runescape properly. So apparently Java is working but something is slowing it down. Another thing just in case it helps. I have a few Java add-ons (I don't download these on purpose I guess they just come with updates). They are Java Console and Java Quickstarter. This is for Firefox by the way. I have no idea what either of them do, so I don't know if they are problems or not.

Joe - Yeah that was my plan for today. Basically re-install anything that might be affecting this.

Groedius - Thanks, I'll try that mate.

Zlatan - See above post by Keanu.

I'm starting to think this might be a virus of some kind. My anti-spyware stuff won't load now.

I re-installed Java and Mozilla and it didn't work.

As I'm now fairly sure it's a virus, my spyware has been disabled from opening and/or running a scan, and my task manager claims my computer usage is at 100% while nothing is running even though I'm not even lagging, I will be doing a system recovery.

I probably won't be able to play on this computer for a couple of days. This is a four year old computer that was originally set up by Geek Squad so who knows what the fuck they did to it. I'm pretty sure I need some Windows code to verify I have a legal copy so god knows where that is.

Also works to my advantage in two ways. Like I said this is a four year old computer, and I really need a new one, but my parents insist I wait until right before college to get a new computer. I'm doing all this work on fixing my computer w/o their knowledge, so if the recovery fails because I can't find something then maybe they'll let me get a new computer. Either that or my computer will be fixed. It's all good.
