So I had my family computer, there was only one admin account, and I forgot the password.

Brothers account auto shuts down at 10PM, and he is raging, so I have to change it

I did something that worked on my old system when my dad tried that shit on me, dont think it works with newer systems. Worth a try though.

Try restarting the computer in safe mode, and see if you can access the admin accounts from there

This guide should do the trick for you. It's a LiveCD called "System Rescue CD" based on Linux and it's a great package for just about anything. I've used it many times but I've never had to use it for reseting passwords.

I'm not sure whether it has been changed now but most system passwords are stored somewhere as a hex string, if you can find that them then you can access the passwords. (It takes ages though).

Also , if you have a problem remember passwords then I would recommend KeePass. I use it to store passwords/usernames. I have a master passphrase which is secure (200+ characters) and quite easy to remember. You can also have a keyfile if you want it to be more secure.

Then it saves everything into a databse which you can just store somewhere safe.

Although, late what Georgio9 suggests is an excellent linux distro. The part of it he is referring to is: ntpasswd

However you shouldn't use it if you have anything on your PC that is encrypted based on your windows password.

Did see a disk once that would work out what your current password is. It would generate a hash that you input on the website, but you had to pay to see the password or wait x days for it to be revealed.

Linux Rescue Disk can also recover deleted files on multiple filesystems, copy/recover damaged disks (using tools like ddrescue) and of course just being able to get into the windows filesystem to edit things.

This might help i use it on the school computers to make myself admin wink.gif
Start>Run>CMD
On the command prompt screen type the following
Net user localgroup Administrator /add
You may get a system 5 error in that case i cannot help you much more, reinstall your OS and you should be fine.

Actually, you can run the computer in safe mode, and then click user "administrator". It may/may not have a password. You can change administrative settings that way.
