I think we need a war mailing list for mini-wars. Mini-wars often have very short prep time, and since most of us do not check the forums every hour they are hard to attend. Alot of people (like me) are on the computer alot though, and would see the "you have no mail" notice, and subsequently find out that there is a mini-war happening.

When you say mail you mean email correct?
If that's the case I don't see why not. We used to do it for long prep wars.

I think it would work just as well though if people just got MSN and kept it open. It is just as easy to notify people there as it is to email them and hope they check it.

IRC, MSN, Email, mobile phone text messages; all these are considered short-prep wars notification methods. I support your suggestion, it's simple yet important. Nobody seems to do it these days.

Yup, I am talking about e-mails.

I know we used to have a mobile alert for wars, but those seem a bit difficult to set up, and someone has to pay for the texts.

You are right Tmal, that an MSN network is another great way to notify people of wars, however the contacts are needed and someone actually has to send out messages to everyone. A e-mail list is much more formal in that everyone on the list is sure to be notified, and the event leader only has to make one message that with a click can be sent to everyone.

Personally, Like Tmal suggested, I prefer Msn/Windows Live Messenger.

From there you can invite all your listed WG to a Conversation and simply paste the War Alert there.

Though E-Mail would be easier, I know some don't frequently check their own, and just use it for things like Forum Registration.

Msn is right there on your screen with out doing anything yourself.

It is not one or the other. Utilizing both e-mail and MSN would be preferable.

I am just against email because on a personal level I NEVER check my [email protected] email account. That account was made only to keep in touch with RS friends, not for anything else.

At last count I had 480 new messages in fact.
So knowing that I can't help but think that at least a few others do the same as I and wouldn't be helped by this. On the other hand though if it brings even one or two more people to a war it is worth it.

I think we should set it up but I think even more importantly as I said above, MSN needs to be not mandatory but highly encouraged. I think council and raid leaders (or whatever tf they are called now) would be willing to pm people on msn if they were on. I know that's how I got people to come back in the day.

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

I think it's a good idea but some emails go straight to peoples Junk or Bulk Email folder which doesn't show up, Like me i get LOADS of spam, about 50 a a day and i don't want to rummage through the folder to find 1 email so i delete them all.
