Lately, it seems we may have some issues with people receiving voice or some getting voice that shouldn't. If you have problems with IRC, you can ask any of the staff for help if you are not sure what to do to fix it. However, you can also try #IRChelp. They have a bot in that channel that answers the most comman questions. Plus the MOD for IRC are in there.

You can always pm me on the forum and I'll try to help you sort it. A guide is being made currently for members.

Good Luck.
Rachy

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

is the day you have stopped leading them.
They have either lost confidence that you can help them
or concluded that you do not care.
Either case is a failure of leadership.”

One thing about IRC that I've noticed is that to join #wg_lobby your nick has to be registered, why is that so? Surely it will hinder recruitment as people new to IRC would not be able to access our IRC channel.

Maybe unregistered nicks should be allowed into WG_Lobby. But to access #wg your nick has to be registered?

The solution would be manually adding access for every member, when this is done, any nickname in your group automatically gets voiced (after disconnecting etc) it shouldn't be hard to make #wg automatically kick anyone that doesn't have access, either.

Now, when I disconnect and reconnect on a different nickname, I have to change my nickname and rejoin #wg_lobby in order to get access to #wg.. It s quite annoying.

Or you could set your IRC nickname on forums so that it recognizes your backup nick (note Robbiebot will recognize an IRC nick that matches your Forum name, ie. you could have 'Jouke' as your forum name and 'Jouke[WG]' as your set IRC Nickame and it would recognize both).

I find it laughable though that you find it too much hassle to set it up properly, yet you expect council/staff to go through the effort of adding every new member to the access list and removing them if/when they ever leave. Hypocritical no?

Dammnnnn. Beef started. Calm it down.

It doesn't make sense to add another whole step to our system that has been working for a few years now. I personally have never had that big of a problem with the way our IRC works. It would be a lot more of a hassle go through and do access than the current system.

It's not a new step, really, it's just a more efficient way to use IRC ranks.
Should RobieBot ever crash; people have to be manually invited into #wg, don't get automatically voiced etcetera. It takes maybe 30 minutes to give everyone the appropriate access and from then on just keep it updated with new applications/kicks/leaving members.

Pros:
Less dependency on 1 computer (if SwiftIRC is offline or has a netsplit everyone is affected anyway)
Grouped nicknames will get voiced automatically.
#wg_lobby can be opened to people who haven't got their IRC nickname registered (imposters don't get voiced automatically now)

Con:
30 minutes time?

I find it quite annoying that this clan isn't very open to suggestions. It's little things mostly, things that have worked correctly for years, yes, but are inferior.

Also, JC, no need for the hostile attitude. I spend my time typing asuggestion, in my opinion, will improve this clan. No need to bash me for that.

Never understood the need for that many names anyway.
