The general view outsiders have of WG is very important.
Say, hypothetically, we currently are viewed as an inactive clan.
Person x is considering joining WG, he talks to his friend about it and his friend has the impression we are an inactive clan. Person x doesn't join.

I think it is very important we establish what the general view outsiders have of WG and try to improve it.

Say, people indeed think WG is inactive (seen this one 10+ times), we need to take measurements to ensure this view is changed.
In this case, one of the possible actions that can be taken are;

- Posting night out topics, advanced event recaps and other topics (maybe invite people from fan sites to attend certain WG events).

While RSC has a great deal more trolls than tip.it, they are the biggest fan site and should be utilized as a tool for recruiting (other than the 'looking for a clan' forum, too).

QUOTE
What do you think the general view outsiders have of WG, is?
How can this be improved (the negative aspects)?

The only thing is half of our wars are no fansite posting.
It seems the Tip.it community is a good place for us to keep the clan community up to date. RSC is just none stop trollolololing and 'I thought you guys died' comments.

The thing is, the majority of the clan world uses RSC. If we want to create a good impression, we need to make sure we post all wins on both Tip.It and RSC. Just because we want to focus on Tip.It does not mean that we need to forget about RSC all together.

This, RSC will never be good for recruitment because people will see our topics and be like lol WG dead. That has the exact same affect as not posting.

So instead trying to change to change the negative view RSC (RuneScape's biggest fan site) has of WG, you ignore RSC as a whole because of some trolls?
RSC's clan fights forum is a great tool that should be utilized for getting our name out there (again).
If we post a topic and we get replies like 'thought you guys died'. 'thought WG was inactive/didn't have events', the topic itself already proves them wrong. Nothing wrong with pointing their stupidity out with a reply and making them look ridiculous, either.

As long as the topic is written with good grammar and the event described isn't too plain, anti-trolling is incredibly easy.

Post a topic every weekend > RSC realizes we aren't a dead clan > we get applications.
Never stop yourself from doing something because of some trolls.

Yeah I hear what you are saying Jouke, but the problem is that we've tried it all before.
I mean we've tried being active on RSC, posting recap topics, recruiting very heavily on there, but it never seemed to work in the past.
Ok yes, perhaps things change and you can be lucky and unlucky, but when we have TIF, that we actually do get recruits from, then perhaps our time is better spent working on those forums... no?

In the past I have heavily tried to get RSC members to attend our events and have really had relatively limited success...
The only time zybez members came to a WG event, one that I hosted, was a Halloween Costume Contest, where we got loads of people + jmods.. in ... 2008 (i think, or 2009).

Is RSC really worth our effort when TIF welcome us with open arms?

I don't see what the big deal is of posting a fight recap and never looking at it again.
Yes, we will get trolled, but if we ignore them they look stupid.

Now I'm not very familiar with RSC or Tip.It so I'm not going to argue about that.

I just remembered that the topic in #wg_lobby is that the public is invited to WG events as of such n such.

Why not everytime we make a fun event (not like a raid or a war), we post it on one of these sites to get people more aware that we are active?

Just a suggestion.

Yeah, I was looking for a WG vs THE recap on RSC thinking "Oh my this has to be some good rep boost for WG" and anticipating replies like "wow, impressive WG" and stuff... and then I realized it was only on tip.it. sad.gif

I think you're right actually.
We should at least try to boost our activity image.
This is the best way to do that.

I've only ever seen complete silence work once and that was on Tribal Wars. It would mean that our members and leaders actually ignore it.
