In order to maintain order with all scheduled events, raids and wars, allow me to outline all of the major timezone changes. _____________________________________________________ On Sunday, October 3rd, 2010, DST begins in the AEST timezone (GMT +10). With this change, AEST becomes GMT + 11. (Basically, Eastern Australia goes forward one hour.) On Sunday, October 31, 2010, DST ends in all of Europe (as well and Mexico and other minor areas). With this change, BST (UK, Spain, etc.) becomes GMT +0, CEST (Netherlands, Sweeden, France, Germany, etc.) becomes GMT +1, and EEST (Finland, Greece, Turkey, etc.) becomes GMT + 2. (Basically, all of Europe falls back one hour.) On Sunday, November 7, 2010, DST ends in Canada and the USA (as well as other minor areas). With this change, EST becomes GMT -5, CST becomes GMT -6, MST becomes GMT -7, and PST becomes GMT -8. (Basically, Canada and the USA fall back an hour) ____________________________________________________ What does all this mean to me? Apart from knowing what time it is in real life when these changes occur, these DST changes will affect the times on WG events, specifically for Eastern Australians and North Americans ... Australia: Until Sunday, October 31, 2010, there will be a 10 hour time difference between GMT and AEST. On Sunday, October 31, 2010, there will be an 11 hour time difference between GMT and AEST. Canada/US: Until Sunday, October 31, 2010, there will be a 5 hour time difference between EST and GMT. On Sunday, October 31, 2010, there will be an 4 hour time difference between EST and GMT. On Sunday, November 7, 2010, there will be an 5 hour time difference between EST and GMT. ______________________________________________ And there you have it. I have checked and double-checked all of my information. I am 99% sure that all of this information is correct. If you have any questions, please ask! I am very confident in my knowledge of timezones and Daylight Savings Time. -------------------- Kcross73 – KevCross – Kevin Proud Trial Guardian: December 24, 2009 – January 10, 2010 Proud Guardian: January 10, 2010 – February 13, 2010 Proud Event Leader: February 13, 2010 – November 27, 2010 Proud Council: November 27, 2010 – July 5, 2011 |
