This is going to be an activity check also. Applicants may not vote. Now comes the part where I suggest strongly that you reread the applications and you vote for the best qualified candidate for a General Council Position that is also Event leader. Popularity is always a factor but hopefully you consider other things as well. You may want to reread the what we are looking for in a council member: You must be able to work well with the staff and keep an open mind to others ideas. This opening is for General Council and you must host events, along with all the other work that needs done. It will be helpful if you are also able to be a fall-in leader if ever needed. TO VOTE: Send a forum PM to His Lordship entitled "Council Votes" ranking all of the applicants from best to worst. To make it a bit easier, I've cut and paste this from Rob's post on the nominations/applications thread. Thanks Rob. Here is a list of the current applications. Kevcross Kung Man149 Leecable MegaJayson WG Keanu At this stage, Emeritus are not permitted to vote. In the case of a tie, Emeritus will be invited to extend their votes. ![]() Kevcross Application for Council: 1. Have you read and understood the warning? Please comment on why the warning is needed and of what relevance it is to you as an applicant. I have read over the warning multiple times, and I understand every word of it. I use the word “understand” loosely though, as I'm sure I won't truly understand it until I experience the harsh reality that is being a council member. This warning is clearly not just a turn off for people who only want the rank of council for the power it comes with. For every single council member I've worked with during my time in WG, I can see how the responsibility affected them – stress, anxiety, but most importantly, they all had a drive to want to make WG better. I believe I have this same drive, and I believe I can carry the immense weight on my shoulders that is council and be a productive asset to the clan as they all were/are. 2. Why are you applying for the Council? I am applying for council because I have the ability and the passion to do so much more for this clan than just make events. Don't get me wrong, I love being an Event Leader, and I have enjoyed every single moment of my nine month tenure in this role. However, I believe the time has come for me to take the next step in my leadership role for this clan. I realize I am not a veteran of this clan, and for some of you, that may be a turn off. However, I have been a staff member of this clan for nine out the eleventh months I have been in it. I am not saying that just to gloat, but to prove a point. This whole leadership thing just comes naturally to me, and it's basically all I know in this clan. I am sure there will be a learning curve for the Event Leader to council transition, but given my experience, I will be able to handle that curve as well as anybody. 3. What do you perceive to be your current role in WG and in what way do you believe that you have helped WG to prosper? Well, obviously, my current role is being an Event Leader. The role of the Event Leader includes making creative and fun events, doing a lot of forum work, moderating IRC and forums, being very integrated in the community, and getting to know members on a personal level. During my time in this role, I have done all of these things. My work goes unnoticed a lot, but I am fine with that. When I see a bunch of Guardians having fun at an event I am hosting, or even when I see a fully updated Event Recap forum, it gives me pleasure and a sense of accomplishment. I have helped WG to prosper by being a consistent, hard worker, and most importantly, by helping people enjoy themselves. Why would anybody stay in a clan if they're not enjoying it? 4. What qualities place you above other people applying for this position? You're about to read some very personal things about me. These things aren't just made up or tossed out there to make me sound like a good candidate for council, they actually have meaning and relevance. As I stated earlier, I am very familiar and confident in my current leadership role in WG, and that is something that will carry over with me into the role of council. I believe everybody has a spiritual gift, and I have been searching for mine for a couple years now. The more I discover myself, the more I am realizing that, for me, my gift is leadership. One good quality I have is I am not easily angered – not only in WG, but in real life as well; I am actually quite proud of this. There are so many great perks to having a good temper and remaining calm, even when it feels like nothing is going your way. Having a clear line of sight and knowing what you need to do to accomplish goals is essential towards success in life. I overcome negative things that happen in life or anger me so my thought process isn't clouded. That allows me to consistently make good judgments. I will be a council that people can rely on to make fair decisions. I am also very honest. I have no reason to lie, first because lying never leads to anything good, and second because it goes against my moral judgment. I have been hurt by many people in my life that were once close to me, including my own father, all due to their dishonest actions. I have always strived to be the opposite of those people. I will be a council that people can trust and freely come to with any problems or issues they have with the clan. Once again, I hope the above descriptions of myself aren't just seen as useless fluff, because I wrote them with true meaning behind them. They are honest and true evaluations of myself as a person. As for experience I have, I am familiar with the Mod CP and IRC commands, and I am a very quick learner when it comes to computer things. With that being said, I'm sure I will be able to find my way around Admin CP as well as having operator in our IRC channels, and put these powers to the best use I can. One thing I especially want to keep on top of is making sure the Events Tab is consistently up to date. I regularly do forum work, including: event creation, event recaps, updating attendance, skill of the week/combat skill of the week maintenance, and side projects in the past (Big 5, updating Events Catalog, helping with Jagex Cup). Some events, such as my Ultimate RuneScapez event, took a solid three hours to finalize. I had to find resources, balance the amount of points each resource got by seeing how long it took to gather it, etc. 5. What makes you think you can last for a long period in the Council? I can cope with stress very well. This goes along with me not being angered easily. I have taken criticism well while being an Event Leader, and I don't let anybody's opinions of me affect the way I carry on with my ideas and my role with the clan. Of course I take constructive criticism and use it to better myself, though. I don't see myself ever leaving WG, until the time I quit playing RuneScape all together (even then I will be emeritus). But that time will not come for a while; I foresee myself playing RuneScape at least for the rest of high school, but most likely later than that. 6. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a Leader? Well, perhaps the most obvious one to all of you is that I am not a PvP leader. I have never led a raid, held a fall in, or called many piles during fights. I would love to get experience in this area, however, and think I could be relied in to lead raids or be a back-up caller in the future. For now though, I will stick to what I know best, and that would mean being a general, community council (which is what this election is directed towards). One other weakness in my leadership is my inexperience in dealing with problems with members. Luckily, during my time as event leader, I have never had to handle any serious conflicts between WG members. However, I see this as unlucky, because it is good to have experience dealing with such issues. However, even without this experience, I do believe I will make good decisions under pressure when such situations arise. 7. What does WG need most at the moment and what will your main priorities be as a Council Member? What WG needs most at the moment are members that want nothing but to improve the clan in both PvP and the overall community area. My priorities as council member will be to help improve every aspect of our clan. In addition to council duties, I would still make at least one event per week. I love making and hosting events, there's no way I would ever get away from it. Raids: I have seen that the quality of our raids has gone up during the past few months, and this is no doubt a result of our more frequent raiding. Raid leaders have been doing a great job with this, and the most important thing is that members are enjoying themselves more at raids. There are times when our organization is bad, and I believe better organization is best achieved by having more organized fights. Warring: I am not going to be a warlord for WG, but I can still voice my opinion about what kind of wars are in the best interest of WG's growth. PvP practices are a part of this as well, and that is one thing I would make sure we do more regularly. Not crap 10v10 CWA fights either. We need to practice the things we struggle with: locating and staying on a pile and returning are the two biggest things we need work on. Event Activity: There are two groups of people in WG: those who regularly attend non-PvP events, and those who don't. Some people in this clan are only in it for the PvP aspects, and that is completely understandable and okay. At the same time, however, our event attendance seems to be suffering and people are preferring to do their own things instead of attend events. Non-PvP events are an integral part of our community, and I believe certain people are making a mistake by not attending them. One of my major goals as council will be to find a way to get more people involved with the event aspect of our community. Skill of the Week: Participation in skill of the week and combat skill of the week has steadily decreased over time. One of my goals will be to either find a way to make this weekly competition more appealing, or revamp the system all together. Recruitment: This has not been my forte in the past, but it is an area I need to step up in. Recruitment is obviously essential to a clan's success, because without a steady stream of new members, a clan will die. WG has had a steady stream of members, but it's not good enough if we want to achieve our goals of becoming a better PvP clan. One of my goals will be to step up my personal recruitment on RSC (but in game as well), and encourage other clan members to consistently recruit people who would be a good fit for WG. Trial Graduation: At the time of writing this, our memberlist is at 64. Out of these 64 members, 19 are trials. Nineteen. That is nearly one-third of our memberlist. This clearly shows that our trials are having difficulty graduating, or they are not putting in enough effort. Taking two months to graduate in my opinion is absurd – one month of more than enough time to meet all of the graduation requirements. How do we solve this? Unnecessarily kicking them is not the answer. I believe the best way is to individually target these trial members and do our best to get them involved with the community. However it is done, increasing our trial graduation rate and speed will be one of my major goals. 8. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive? Do you plan on serving as WG council for 6 months or longer? I will be taking standardized testing during the spring of 2011, which could possibly cut into my activity. However, nothing serious enough to stop me from fulfilling my council duties. I am sure I will be able to serve council for over 6 months. 9. Do you agree to provide the Council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Yes, of course. 10. Is there anything else you would like to say? I realize my application is quite long and quite detailed, but everything above is relevant towards my views on WG and how I view myself as a leader. I am a very detail-oriented person. If you scrolled through my application, skipped over most of it, etc., I ask you to please go back and read it as fully as you can. Otherwise, good luck to all applicants, and prosperity to WG no matter who is elected our new council! ![]() ![]() ![]() Kung Man149 Application for Council: 1. Have you read and understood the warning? Please comment on why the warning is needed and of what relevance it is to you as an applicant. Yes, I've read the warning and I'm ready to take on such a big task. Without warning there is no pressure and without pressure there is no success. 2. Why are you applying for the Council? (I'm expecting at the very least 100 words.) I want to be able to help the current council and help WG by introducing fresh and new ideas to help us through our current problems. I would also be a great addition to the staff because I am used to being stressed in real life and online, I would also be willing to help all members with any and all problems they have with a clear and solid mindset and a knack for keeping positive. 3. What do you perceive to be your current role in WG and in what way do you believe that you have helped WG to prosper? I believe that I've help WG prosper by being a positive member and a helpful member to our community. 4. What qualities place you above other people applying for this position? I have been in several leadership positions before therefore I strongly believe I would be able to properly pull this off. I also have the determination and the drive I feel WG needs as a whole to be able to pull out of our current problems and get us working as a unit instead of individuals during wars. I also am willing to set aside the time needed to help members with Anything they need regardless of IRL issues or Ingame issues. 5. What makes you think you can last for a long period in the Council? [Please really think about this and give us details.] Throughout my life I have been the target of MANY insults and quite alot of stress, some of it stemming from my friends therefore I fully believe that Due to those real life experiences I could be able to stand getting flamed for no good reason or getting a stressful workload. 6. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a Leader? I have a lot of weaknesses but I have a strong belief that whatever comes my way I can always turn to other council members and ask them for advice on where to improve, but yes, my greatest weakness would have to be the fact that I AM far too nice and lenient. 7. What does WG need most at the moment and what will your main priorities be as a Council Member? WG needs to go back to the basics of warring and overall activity. We need to learn how to act as a unit instead of relying on sheer numbers alone. And my main priority is to do just that by adding guides to proper warring techniques,bi-weekly practices with our allies, and to get our name out there in a positive light. 8. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive? Do you plan on serving as WG council for 6 months or longer? There's nothing really that could make me inactive exept my girlfriends birthday coming up but that's a one off every year. I am extremely devout to WG and will do my very best to serve beyond the 6 month period. 9. Do you agree to provide the Council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Yes, I would also use the 2 weeks to aid the council in whatever they needed before I left the position. 10. Is there anything else you would like to say? Without pressure there is no success, so bring it on. ![]() ![]() Leecable Application for Council: 1. Have you read and understood the warning? Please comment on why the warning is needed and of what relevance it is to you as an applicant. The warning is there todo as it is so rightly named. To warn possible candidates of the problems and issues they will encounter whilst being a council member. 2. Why are you applying for the Council? (I'm expecting at the very least 100 words.) I am applying, simply because I love WG. Why do you think I always end up back here. Because I love it. I love the atmosphere, the friends and most of all the experience. Ask anyone that leaves and trys to stay away. Even those that leave and troll us, why do you think they do it? Because they loved it here, and are trying to make themselves feel better about leaving. I want to make WG the best it can possibly be. I know you will see this in every application that you will read. So why am I any different? Because I have experience. Im an Ex Raid Leader. I know my pking stuff. I know tactics and clans that we can seriously expect to beat and stuff like that. I know my activity hasnt been the greatest. I understand this. But for all the major wars that have been on, since I rejoined......I have attended. I know me applying is gonna cause allllll sorrtts of issues. But meh, oh well. Third time lucky Eh? 3. What do you perceive to be your current role in WG and in what way do you believe that you have helped WG to prosper? My current role, is Trial Guardian. I understand this. I know I havent done my graduation yet. But im on it. I saw this as an oportunity to help WG. And im grabbing it by the balls. 4. What qualities place you above other people applying for this position? Experience, Age, im vocal "your not his lordship, brrrrrrrr - See soundboard" 5. What makes you think you can last for a long period in the Council? [Please really think about this and give us details.] Im not going anywhere. Im settled. I have a house with the misses. I have a cat. Im not going to leave anyone in the lurch. 6. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a Leader? I always speak my mind. Fuck me off, and I will tell you. 7. What does WG need most at the moment and what will your main priorities be as a Council Member? Experience and help. Guiding people to better pkers and people. Tank. 8. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive? Do you plan on serving as WG council for 6 months or longer? May change my job, may not. Puts me innactive for 2 days tops. 9. Do you agree to provide the Council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Of course. 10. Is there anything else you would like to say? Good Luck Keanu. ![]() ![]() MegaJayson Application for Council: 1. Have you read and understood the warning? Yes, I have read the warning. The warning is needed as the rank of council can be a frustrating and annoying rank, where instead of you receiving from a promotion; you are doing more work for no gain. But for me, the gain of the clan’s success is more than enough. 2. Why are you applying for the Council? For quite a long time now, I have sat back, criticizing, commenting, watching, judging all the moves made by council. Never before in all the time I have spent in WG have I been the rank of council. This was always a goal of mine, but not a personal goal, a goal to give back to the clan that has given me so much. When I first joined, I left my old clan with the thoughts of finding a new clan, with Australian members, and a clan that would only war to defend honor, not to gain loot, or to be the best. This is what I found in the Wilderness Guardians. Over the past 6 years of my life, I have been in 3 clans, but have always returned to WG. That is because it has always been a second family to me. So when it comes to me applying for council, it is as if I, the son of the family, is stepping up, working to provide the family, and steer my brothers and sisters to greater things, not only in the clan world, but together, making tighter bonds with existing members and making new bonds. 3. What do you perceive to be your current role in WG and in what way do you believe that you have helped WG to prosper? I feel as though my role in WG at the moment is what I like to call “A person of the People”. Someone everyone can go to and have a chat with, because I am open, speak my mind, and can often give suggestions to tricky situations and/or problems. Over my time in WG, I have been an Event Leader, being only one of two Australian event leaders, thus providing event not only to Australian members, but to all members of the clan. Besides that, I have used my experience from being in WG, as well as being in the clan world over the past 6 years to my advantage to help WG when need. A big event that I helped with was the Jagex Skill Cup. It was the first year that the cup had been run, and I took ahead myself the goal of organising the team (With Gorgemaster) and single handedly organising the guide that would provide the members with a detailed guide of achieving the best experience possible. When it didn’t come with directly helping WG, I have also been a person often approached by many council members asking for advice, and I have humbly offered my opinion on many topics that have provided council members with an insight as to what the average member believes on the topic. 4. What qualities place you above other people applying for this position? - Activity. Having just finished University, I have 4 months away from studies, which means all day, every day I am free to give to the clan. I may occasionally have to work, but the hours I work, is when you Americans and English are sleeping anyway so it does not affect the clan. - Experience. I have had a role on staff before, so I understand that WG comes before my own account, and I understand how to do all the basic staff tasks such as updated attendance, working on forums etc. - Dedication. With over 3 years in WG, I have been around to know how things work and I have been there through the major changes in the clan so I know what has to be done for the better and what can cause things for the worse. - Personality. I said this to the principal when I applied for school captain and he said he was a great line, so I will say it again. I see myself as a "Person of the People", someone who has little things to connect him with every type of social group, whether it be sport, games or music, which makes me a person easily approachable which many common things to talk about. This will help with people feeling free to talk to me, and also listening to me when I would need to lead. 5. What makes you think you can last for a long period in the Council? I have been in WG for so long already, and I have left, and returned. I now realise that instead of wasting time leaving, and then returning, I may as well solve the problems that would cause me to leave in the first place, instead of just taking the easy way out and leaving. I have shown this over the past year I have spent in WG as a member. I made it through many flame wars, trolling and personal vendettas, not only against me, but by me, and came out of it unscathed, ready to represent WG no matter how my personal feelings are. 6. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a Leader? I sometimes expect too much from people. This can be good, as it gives people a goal of what to aim for, but sometimes it is an insult. An example was me encouraging Zooby to train his account, return to WG. This was a big step for Zooby, having to gain 20 combat levels just to join the clan. But for Zooby, he persevered, and gained not only those 20 combat levels, but 15 extra, and he is still training, all because I encouraged him to begin with. 7. What does WG need most at the moment and what will your main priorities be as a Council Member? WG needs to get back into the solid routine of warring that it had two months ago. This is the most important thing I believe WG needs to work on over the next 6 months. Warring is what defines a ‘great’ clan. Awesome skilling clans, or community clans don’t get remembered. It’s the clans that are the best on the battlefield that are recognised, not only by the clan world, but also by Jagex. I have three goals I want to achieve while in council. 1. Get WG back into the top 10 clans (Mainly P2P, but F2P occasionally). 2. Get 240 opts to a pvp war (80 members). 3. Make the final four in the Jagex Cup (Warring). 8. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive? Do you plan on serving as WG council for 6 months or longer? If elected, I will be in council for a lot longer than 6 months. As for inactivity, I just have my usual sport (Football/Basketball, all while GMT/EST sleep) and then University in 4 months time which will take up 10-15 hours a week (Doesn’t affect events) but only for 12 weeks. 9. Do you agree to provide the Council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Of course. 10. Is there anything else you would like to say? ![]()

![]() ![]() WG Keanu Application for Council: 1. Have you read and understood the warning? Please comment on why the warning is needed and of what relevance it is to you as an applicant. Every word. In the simplest of terms, I could simply say that the warning is there to warn applicants such as myself of what exactly is going to happen, and what we can expect from being a member of the council. However, I've been leader and council of clans before. I know what to expect. The warning is there because applicants need a full awareness of what they are going to experience if they get the rank. In my time of WG I've seen two council members who have been banned because they left without 2 weeks notice. I know the risks, and the effects. I've read the warning three times in the past when nominations opened, and each time it has indeed made me consider and rethink whether I am really up to the challenge that is presented. I think that's the real reason it's needed. 2. Why are you applying for the Council? (I'm expecting at the very least 100 words.) I've never been council of WG before. But within just over a year in the clan (almost 2 with the community), I've gotten an understanding of the role's importance which is, I would say, the best that a Guardian can get without actually experiencing it for themselves. I know what needs to be done in order for the rank to serve its purpose. And I feel, with confidence, that I'm able to do what is neccesary to ensure that. To expand, I'll tie this in with #4, as the two are always related in my case. 3. What do you perceive to be your current role in WG and in what way do you believe that you have helped WG to prosper? Well, the obvious answer is that I'm WG's Historian. Before that I was Elite Guardian. How do I believe I've helped... apart from the obvious such as attending events and posting on the forums, I've put effort and dedication in, I've given a contribution to the community (Eg. Summer Awards) and atmosphere (IRC, forums) as best I can (And improved where neccesary), I've hosted events including raids, Megaraids and wars, led when there was need for a leader, done recaps (More than 20), taken screenshots and made videos for us (Turning Tides, Gladz, AA, etc), helped with the website and forums, and some other stuff in relation to the Historian side (Wiki page, histories, MotM list, etc). I've given advice and help to others when they ask or need it, have given consideration and suggestions for events (In particular clans to war)... The list goes on. The point being, since I joined, I've been and done what I felt would be what is/was expected of who I am - Trial, Guardian, Higher Guardian, Elite Guardian, Historian. 4. What qualities place you above other people applying for this position? Tied in with #2.
What's the difference between that and what I've been doing for the past year? I started a clan from scratch called Moratorium and led it on my own for the better part of 2007 (ending ml), and was promoted to High Council of Red Blade Hunters for 2008/2009 until I left for WG. There's my experience. But what sets me aside... I quote Abs:
That's my motivation - my driving force behind EVERYTHING I do. When I made our Wiki page, it took me 2 weeks. I was down in London up into the early hours going through a can of coke an hour working on it. I wasn't even asked to do that. Why did I do it? Because I love WG, and I'll do anything I have the ability to if it helps the clan. Including Council.... if Council is a test, then I'll do everything I physically can to ensure I pass with flying colours. You know the motivation and dedication and effort I have for WG. You can expect nothing less than 110%. 5. What makes you think you can last for a long period in the Council? [Please really think about this and give us details.] I'm in my second year of college, and I'm definitely going back next year for another 2, depending on what course I choose. That guarantees the level of activity you've been seeing from me already to continue until 2013. After that I -MIGHT- go to Uni, but I've also got an offer from my employers to continue my education in Texas, USA. That means my timezone will change but my activity probably won't. And to be fair, this ties in with #4 as well, in terms of dedication and effort. 6. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a Leader? Immaturity. You guys know I'm not the best when it comes to common sense, but if I make a mistake, I learn from it, and I never make the same mistake twice. In fact, WG has been the most influential clan when it comes to bettering myself at when difficulties arrive in the moment. Since I joined I've gained the ability to realise when I'm doing something wrong, stop it, and take action to amend it immediately. I'm not perfect, but I do know how to improve in the areas I'm weak in. 7. What does WG need most at the moment and what will your main priorities be as a Council Member? Well I think WG needs a strong leadership foundation. We're pretty much out of the slump we were in four months ago, and we need someone to keep our rise steady. Much of what needs to be done immediately such as our wars, the anniversary and of course administrative work and whatever else comes into the clear is a start. Whether it's training, wars, raiding, whatever - I'll use what experience and skill I have to put forward to benefit us. My priority would be a council member of WG - meaning that I'd listen to you - the members - and understand what you want, and do my best to cater for that. I'd support and encourage when need be, remain positive (but firm) and open-minded. 8. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you inactive? Do you plan on serving as WG council for 6 months or longer? Nothing within 6 months that I can see... my birthday, driving test, college ensembles... nothing that will be a major hinderance. 6 months? I'd be embarrased to last less than that, otherwise I would not apply for the rank. However, I do agree if the clan sees me unfit to lead, I will understand this and will be willing to resign my position to someone more capable, but that does not mean I will be slacking in my duties. 9. Do you agree to provide the Council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign? Yes, unless I am physically or mentally unable to do so (Eg. dead, comatose, etc) 10. Is there anything else you would like to say? For reference from an outside point of view, I asked for a testimonial from Amir, a member (and previously Lower Council/Elder) for the Red Blade Hunters, of which I was High Council of in 2008/2009.
* - Remember a certain war that turned out to be a war practice back in 09? This was the reason behind the debate I caused. I would not make this mistake again. Other than that, I wish the best of luck to Lee, Jayson, Rick and all other applicants. ![]() -------------------- ![]() Thank you Garrett and Dallar. “The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. Emeritus have not been allowed to vote in council elections because it is a retired rank that means inactive for the most part. The judgment that determines who is right or wrong for the spot should be up to the active members of the clan who are aware of what needs changing etc. Emeritus could easily screw up the elections by just voting for old friends without actually knowing the other applicants who may have won (and been better for the spot). Of course the inactive part doesn't necessarily apply to ALL emeritus but definitely the overwhelming majority. -------------------- ![]() ![]()

Plus, those really inactive people who will just vote for their friends, will most likely not check the forums often enough to vote! Or! Better idea! Let Gene/the Council decide on an individual basis which emeritus are allowed to vote, because there are those who care... -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

Emeritus members, as awesome as they are, are not as affected by changes in council as the active members are.
