In the next few weeks, we are going to have the old Wildy back(I'm sure of it). At this time, it would be -very- nice if anyone who doesn't have a mic now gets one.
By now, you will know if you've gotten one for Christmas or not, so those who -still- don't have a mic, read on. Also, for those who can, picking up a spare mic is always a good idea - You never know when it'll fail(mainly due to being stepped on or run over wink.gif).

First, what sort of microphone do you need for TS?
The answer is: A cheap one. In fact, these cheap ones are as good as the most expensive PC microphones I've seen - Perhaps better!
Hopefully all of you can spare $0.99 US(free shipping to US/UK/Aus and more) for a microphone.

Problems:
Is your microphone port on the back of your PC? Get an extender ($0.99).
Need a headset so you don't wake the family? Here's a cheap one for $2.
Don't have a microphone port/sound card(Unlikely)? USB sound card for $1.32.

Now, if you can't spare the money, or if you don't have an online card(no way to order one), let me know. I'm willing to put up a few $ of my own money to make sure you get one; PM me and I'll figure out a way to get one to you.

If anyone's interested in helping me with this project, post here with your country/area and what you can do to help(i.e. provide a few $, physically deliver a microphone to someone who lives nearby, etc.).

Hopefully, if all goes well, we shall all be able to communicate with TS exclusively on our first new-wildy raid!

Thanks,

-Rob

Do realize that the quality is probably pretty poor - It's not going to be as good as any speakers/headphones you have now. The -mic- is OK, the speakers however.
Good enough for TS, but probably not for listening to music.

If you've got the money, get a better one.

Also, I've found that the -mic- I linked will work nicely, even a few feet from your face(i.e. plugged into the front of your PC).

For anyone in Australia, The reject shop sells a Headset in its music/electronics section for $2. The plastic is cheap but the quality of the mic and headphones aren't that bad, good enough for TS3.

Well worth picking one up. Ive got 2 just incase. especially since I stood on one XD

Yer that was what I was expecting, I have decent headphones for listening to music anyway.

I do believe guys Tesco in the UK does some rather cheap ones so i'd look there too.

Personally i didnt get one but i want a decent one. Seeing as i want something durable so i can move it alot. A cheap one just breaks when i move it.

Yeah I plan on buying a headset regardless since I have a roommate and sometimes I like to play SC2 while he's asleep and want the sound and don't want to fuss with getting my earphones.

Good idea Robbie.

Just so you guys know, I'd suggest grabbing a couple of those little $0.99 mics - They have a 4" flexible/stiff cable(which is metal-covered and -very- hard to break), great sound, and in general are nice to have around. Keep one or two spare if you can - Backups are always nice.

The most interesting part is that they are the best sounding mic I've had, and I've had a number of things I've used for a mic - from an xbox-live headset, my mp3 player, a $20 Logitech headset... And for whatever reason, these create the "cleanest" sound... At least on my Audigy 2 sound card.

In the USA there is a store called "Five Below". All items there are $5 or under. I have seen headsets there. Not sure of the quality but might be worth looking into it.
