      IRC Nickname: DG_Keanu Group: Council Posts: 4782 Member No.: 2033 Joined: August 25, 2009 Total Events Attended: 173    | The topic "Read Before You Say Goodbye" was one I wrote for WG, in the hopes that members considering leaving would read it and, if not reconsider their decision, reconsider the method in which they left the clan. When I left recently, I was under suspension and did not have the chance to do so. As I am already an ex-member, there is no way to change that. However, I am still interested in reading the topic for myself. It is one that every member should see prior to their departure, and I can think of no harm in allowing me to read it. It can only be beneficial to myself ensuring I do not make the same mistakes again, and will have no negative effects on the clan whatsoever. Sadly, due to a minority of ex-members who tried to recruit leaving members into their own clans, I cannot see the Goodbyes forum, and I cannot request members to leak the topic to me. However, I feel that my circumstance may be in need of an exception. After speaking to George, he suggested I put this to a democratic vote. Don't you believe that the current council being addressed in a pm would of been better than a poll. There was only about 1.5 hours between end of suspension and your being removed but I am not sure cause I wasn't the one to remove it. I will talk to the other council and make a decision and get back to you. A similar event was Vephyrus's ban after failing to adhere to the two weeks notice. He was unbanned after a democratic vote. The circumstances are similar in my case. Ex-members cannot see goodbyes because they attempted to recruit leaving members to their own clans. I request to be able to view the topic for a completley different and positive purpose. As for being allowed to view the Goodbyes forum entirely... If the original issue was resolved I can see no harm in it. One way would be to remove Ex-members ability to use the forum PM system, and take disciplinary action against them if they tried to recruit publicly.

I see both sides to an ongoing argument that has no need for existence in a suitable reality. Some of you do not wish to let Keanu have his own post in the hopes that you will discourage him from using the information in a new clan. That is completely understandable and acceptable. On the other end Keanu you feel that you are entitled to having a piece of information that you spent your time constructing. This is also reasonable. You feel that you are being wronged by the very people you worked along with for such a long time, and you are outraged that they do not trust you. I must agree with Rachel when she said that this was not the way to go about obtaining the ability to view said thread. However, being that it has become a public matter it must be addressed as such and handled in a way that everyone can be comfortable and feel satisfied. I know that my time in this community has been relatively short but here is how I would handle the situation. Take from if what you will. And know that I post this in the hopes of resolving a needless issue between friends. Though I am strongly against using one clans information to build upon another, it happens daily. That is a simple truth within the clan world. It's nothing that can be helped or stopped, it is a simply a matter that must be accepted. In cases such as these though, measures can be taken to ensure that such things not occur. Keanu, as of now you've only reasoned that you want to read this topic for a good purpose. You've not given a legitimate reason as to why it is necessary to read this topic, and have petitioned to your former clan mates that you would like to read it. Members of Wilderness Guardians, you have reasoned that you do not wish Keanu to read his own work in the event that he may use it to another clans benefit and due to our secrecy policy. Here is my suggestion: If Keanu can produce a legitimate reason, to the Councils, why he needs the ability to read this topic now that he is no longer a member, and agrees with his word not to use the post in question for any other means than to simply read it, then he should be allowed to do so without a fuss. If however, he is not faithful to his word then certain disciplinary actions should be taken. If the Council finds the reason provided to be illegitimate, Keanu, you must accept their decision as the governing body of this community and leave the subject alone without further argument or petition. You cannot continue to point the finger of blame at others, for mistakes that you have made. Each of you must take into consideration both sides of the argument and do your best to understand the reasonings of both sides. I know that for some of you that may be a challenge due to dislike for one another, but I implore that you look at this matter without favoritism and put this issue to rest before it becomes an even bigger drama and gains the rights to its own television series. Last time I checked both George and Jayson were not council. Even if the poll gets 1000 yes and 0 no it's not like you're suddenly going to be granted access. It's 100% the council's decision. -------------------- | ||||||

Exactly ^ Even if the decision reached by the members is democratic the Council + Gene are the leaders of this clan and thus it is their prerogative to give the final decision. They know what is best for all and it's not as if Rach, Kevin, Kyle and Gene are going to refuse you access to that post JUST TO SPITE YOU, they don't do that, so you can have faith in the fact that what they decide will be a good and carefully thought about decision. -------------------- | ||||||
