does anyone else have some sort of VPS/VPN , meaning you can play rs from your ipod/ipone/ipad, ive found it brilliant for annoyingly long journeys, but i have bad connection problems. i also find it tends to lag alot after 2-3 hours. to the point where you cant play anymore.
any thoughts, post if you dont understand what im talking about and ill explain.

edit: took Damien's advice, sorted, thanks mate.

The only thing you use a VPS for is botting, bud (in RS that is), unless you're trying to VPN into the VPS in which case of course you're going to get lag while using an iPad since the iPad can't handle the graphics of RuneScape....

In fact I find it curious that you're able to use an iPad to play RS at all with iPad not having a good graphics processor. Even if you were using the VPS to relay to your iPad you'd still need the iPad to translate the graphics, which brings back to my original botting argument.

The tech specs of the iPad are a dual core 1Ghz processor, no video rendering chip outside of codec translation (the video renderer is on the order of 64bit graphics), and all SSD memory with a 256 (or 512 if iPad 2) RAM buffer so it's not even statistically possible to play RS on the iPad. If you were playing quake it might work, RS has many more colors than that, and much more gfx translation.

If you want to play RS while travelling you might want to invest in satellite internet and a laptop. It'll be much cheaper than a VPS.

Uh... First off, what you'd be doing is basically a VNC connection to the X-server running on the VPS. So, you're downloading raw data over the network, which indeed will be slow. Over a lan, though, you could easily get 10FPS+, which is /plenty/ for most training.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure the iPad has a DSP for "hardware acceleration", which indeed won't be used. The two 1-ghz cores, however, /are/ enough to run RS(you'd end up with one core exclusively for RS, one being lightly used for the OS), though you'll only be running in Safe mode, and at about 2FPS /MAX/.
And then you come to the other problem: iOS doesn't support (desktop) Java. So, it's impossible... but for Software reasons rather than hardware ones.

Note: For anyone who's curious, my numbers are valid. I successfully got runescape running natively on my Nokia N900, OC'd to 1GHZ(A8, single-core, 256MB ram):

...At 1-2FPS or so. It even played music and sounds! (Howto for those who are curious)
