Hey there,

We've put together a skilling competition made up of different challenges to find the best skillers out there! This is a special invite to you and your clan as we would like you to take part. This competition will be running over two weekends at the end of May. The first week will focus on individual skilling and efficiency while the second week will focus on clans proving their mettle within RuneScape, it isn’t all about combat y'know! Some of the main categories across each weekend will include: the best average XP, total XP, the clan with the largest number of players gaining 99's and more!

You will be able to sign up for as many of the challenges as you like so make sure your clan signs up for the individual challenges too and show off your clan pride. As the challenges will be taking place each weekend you will have time to make any necessary preparations. As well as a Hall of Fame that will list those worthy of going down in RuneScape history, individual winners will be rewarded with some signed RuneScape stash and winning clans will be able to design their very own logo to add to the game. Ooooooh!
All you have to do to take part is post in the sign up threads! For more information check out the main challenge thread: 42-43-295-62728618

Hope to see you there!

Mod Kathy
RuneScape Community Team

I can picture us getting 3 level 98's each and then once it starts, just getting like 5xp to get 99's.
I want us to get our own Logo SO BADLY.

WG is starting to flourish in PvP. Turning your focus towards skilling would be an insult to all the hard work people have put in to get WG back on the PvP scene.

I like skilling, but really think we shouldn't do anything for this. Thanks for offering it out to us though Gene.

No, you are placing publicity and notoriety in front of where the clan is naturally going and should go. I won't take part in it and I'm your best skiller at the moment.

Why is it always a case of one or the other?
We were once the proud clan that could do many types of things.
Now it's all a trade-off.
Mentality in this place went down the shitter.

I just mean, we don't have the skillers we used to at the moment - plus a lot of members are posting inactivity with exams (any British fall in here). Think it would not give positive publicity - as Vephy has pointed out.

I am personally more than happy to see WG competitively compete in more than just combat, but this isn't the right moment to attempt it.

This would be fun if we still had the active skillers that we had a year ago.

Yeah we did both things moderately well. The fact is WG is and never was a top skilling clan of any sort. We have maybe 1 or 2 people who MIGHT be able to compete and that's it. We're just not an intense skilling clan, and there's no way we're going to be able to compete in this. We'll lose to large clans because they have more people/skillers just by the law of averages. Skilling clans will beat us because well they like skilling obviously. The only reason WG wins Skill Olympics is because we have a few dedicated people each year that win it for us/the other clan is worse than us/WG can get off its ass once a year and train for longer than 5 minutes

I'm in too.

Seriously, yes maybe focus should be on PvP but doing things like this would show that we are very active. Maybe we are not the best skillers but we did try and we will be respected for trying.

.. And just because our main focus is PvP I don't see anything negative about doing a little skilling. People won't get bad at fighting because of this. This is why I prefered the sectors..

But meh.. I'm more a skiller than a fighter. I really am in the wrong clan but there is nothing to do about it tongue.gif

Joe's post really sums it up.
WG don't mind training for the Skills Olympics as basically if it is massively hyped up, we have a good chance of winning. Like, when I used to arrange them I wouldn't have bothered scheduling one with RS' #1 skilling clan as it would have been pointless and therefore no fun.

At previous RS skilling competitions, WG has always done really very badly, even in the first Skilling Cup, where we actually hyped it up and trained very hard for it. There are just better clans out there.

I love these competitions myself, but I think WG is finally in a place where we have more of a chance at succeeding in PvP.

I have to agree that it would be really cool to get the logo . . .

Unfortunately, I usually see us go into a decline after a skill war type thing. WG doing this for longer than a few days might not be a great thing for the clan overall. There is a lot to consider before saying yes or no.

Grr as long as its minimal effort and very little focus is paid to it. Maybe 3-4 members max... sleep.gif I don't want it dominating the attention for a week though. That would be bad.

Making a skilling event, making effort to make it work out and then have nothing from it, as I have seen that WG doesn't always come out well in skilling events, is just a waste of time - I'd consider doing something PvP related - Joe said it all. We WILL lose to full-out skilling clans, just like we would lose to RoT in a full-out CWRI.
